If you’re looking to embrace your curiosities while enjoying a next-level beach vacation, here are our recommendations to experience immersion

Where to visit

Centuries ago, the Mayans built Tulum, a walled city overlooking the bright blue Caribbean Sea. Fast forward to today, the Tulum is one of Riviera Maya’s premier attractions and is the perfect destination for history buffs and renowned travelers. The well-preserved lie above the ocean, with the city’s castle El Castillo sitting at its highest point. Below the walled city, you can walk down a path to a picturesque sandy beach, which the Mayans once believed to be the entrance to the underworld.

Across the Caribbean Sea is an island known for its laid-back spirit, reggae music, jerk chicken–the list goes on and on! Jamaica truly embodies the essence of what the Caribbean is all about, and its friendly culture is complimented by lush landscapes and breathtaking beaches begging to be explored.

Montego Bay’s historic Rose Hall Great House gives an inside look at how European colonists impacted Jamaica–it's even rumored to be haunted! But if you don’t want to stay in a haunted house, we understand. Check out Iberostar Rose Hall Beach, a family-friendly oasis situated on an idyllic white sand beach. The resort offers all-inclusive amenities, a sensational on-site spa, and gourmet island gastronomy.

What to do

No trip to Tulum is complete without exploring its ancient remains, but there is plenty to do and see outside the ruins as well. The streets of Tulum’s present-day town center are scattered with local boutiques and quaint cafes, so pick up a handmade souvenir and sample fresh seaside cuisine while you wander through town. If you’re looking for more adventure, plan a day to a local cenote, a natural phenomenon in the Yucatan Peninsula that leaves a picturesque sinkhole cave to swim and explore.

To get an authentic taste of Jamaica, you can never go wrong with finding a local beach bar! You’ll find many great tunes, delicious rum punch, and fresh jerk chicken in Montego Bay’s Hip Strip. Outside the city, you can float on a traditional bamboo raft down the Martha Brae River and experience the island's untouched beauty.
