The Colombian Caribbean is anchored by the colorful metropolis of Cartagena. This vibrant city is known for many things, but for the purpose of this article, we’ll be focusing on two of our favorites–the beaches and the food.
We partnered with content creator @EastCoastContessa, aka Alexandra Booze, and planned a luxury all-inclusive getaway to Dreams Karibana Cartagena Beach & Golf Resort. This all-inclusive resort opened its door to guests in 2022, featuring six on-site restaurants, four themed bars, 24-hour room service, multiple pools, and spacious-style accommodations.
Alexandra brought her mom to the resort with her, where they’d begin their mornings ordering luxe room service and dining by their private plunge pool outside their room. Room service includes all the classic breakfast staples as well as standout menu items like caramelized banana pancakes and guava pastries.
The main pools and private beach areas offer all-inclusive lounge chair service. For lunches, they would head to the beach and indulge in fresh, local seafood paired with tropical sides like coconut rice and grilled vegetables. The nearby buffet also had an assortment of ceviche which, to a seafood lover like Alexandra, was absolutely heavenly.
The resort’s a la carte restaurants had fantastic dinner menus with selections of international cuisines. Portofino’s Italian fares stole the show with a five-course tasting menu and wine pairing. Some of Alexandra’s favorites included the oyster au gratin and the pasta alla routa–hand-tossed tableside in a cheese wheel!
