We partnered with Toronto-based content creator Joe Polito, known as @JourneyByJoe on Instagram, to plan his warm-weather getaway from the Canadian cold, and what better place to escape to than the happiest island in the Caribbean? Aruba has coined itself as "One Happy Island,” and based on Joe’s experience, we believe it truly does live up to the name. Here are three things to do in Aruba to experience the island in all its glory.
Enjoy Aruba’s beaches
Aruba sits in the southern Caribbean Sea, away from the seasonal rainfall of the hurricane belt. Its location makes for year-round sunshine and perfect conditions for beach days. Joe set out to explore Aruba’s beaches, taking beautiful drone shots of the white sands and piercing blue waters outside of Palm Beach. Joe stayed at Hyatt Regency Aruba Resort & Casino, which granted him direct access to Palm Beach, an 8,000-square-foot pool, a world-class spa, and a full-service casino.
Visit the infamous flamingos
On the other side of the island (which is approximately a 15-minute drive) is Renaissance Island, a private island home to the famous Flamingo Beach. Joe took a short water taxi out to the island where he was able to get up close and personal with the flamingos and enjoy the island’s secluded beaches, overwater cabanas, and access to the chic beach bar, Papagayo Bar & Grill. Spending a day here is an absolute must-do while in Aruba because although the flamingo has become a symbol of Aruba, they can only be found on the sands of Flamingo Beach.
Set sail at sunset
To end his time in Aruba, we booked Joe our favorite kind of night, a night spent on the water! His sunset cruise was with our destination management partner, Amstar DMC. The crew on board served tropical cocktails, playing music as the sky transformed from the bright colors of the day into the bold tones of the night.
