The Coral Reef Lab at Iberostar Selection Bavaro has helped restore ocean coral in the area, and the Mangrove Restoration Program in the Dominican Republic has helped offset carbon dioxide emissions and mitigate climate change.

Why is sustainable seafood so important? Overfishing is not only threatening the biodiversity of our oceans, but it is harming local communities that depend on seafood for their livelihoods. The cultural heritage around the gastronomy of seafood is a treasured component of coastal cultures, so Iberostar wants to preserve it for generations to come through sustainable seafood practices. By 2025, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts aims to work solely with local and sustainably rated fisheries and promote 100% responsible seafood consumption!
