Gross top to bottom. We ran out of the place in 20 min
Dumpster fire of a hotel! From the moment we arrived we knew it was going to be a nightmare. The greeting was terrible as we were shuffled around. They walked us to what was supposed to be an ocean front room with balcony. There was no balcony or ocean review. They have tried to keep my money and Amex is not backing me. This place is gross! Do not book here. run, run run

Literally dangerous !!!!!
So my husband and I just got back on Sunday. When I tell you this place is literally dangerous, I’m not being dramatic at all. First I go to sit in the chair to breast pump and the chair completely breaks. But this is when we first arrived so I don’t even say anything about it. The trip goes on, broken board walk pieces, chairs, slippery steps. But, then we get to the last night. Our literal balcony overhang completely collapsed. You could literally see the black mold. It’s insane! There was wires hanging down everywhere, the light fixture about to fall on top of us, completely ruined anything we had out there. And the worst part is not one person cared. No one called us back, they downgraded our room after telling them we were nervous to stay with all the wires and fire hazard. This is a serious and dangerous event. I wouldn’t be able to rest if I didn’t warn others to BE SAFE here. Imagine my children were out there. Honestly anyone hit with that would be dead. And no follow up, no one answering our calls, no one cares. They want to forget it happened and let it happen to someone else. I will NOT let that happen. Do NOT book here. You will literally regret it

Not a 5 star.
I’d like to start this off by saying I’m not by any means a fussy traveller, I don’t pick apart the small stuff, don’t criticize the silly stuff; just here to enjoy my time. In saying that, this is the first time I have ever felt disappointed in travelling. This is my first time in Jamaica, and I was so let down. Let’s start with the bad and get it out of the way. Upon arrival we walked over to the desk to check in, a guy came and collected us all and took us to the breakfast Buffett area- where he asked for our passports and took them, ( I have never had to give my passport to anyone ever) he came back than we was asked to go to the front desk and provide a $200 US deposit on the credit card. In all my years of traveling, we have never had to do this. So just a heads up for those who don’t travel with credit cards. The resort is layed out very poorly. The supper buffet is at the very end of the resort and it is the smallest buffet I have ever seen. It has a salad/fruit side, ONE pasta station in the middle, and the other side was a selection of meats. That’s it… 3 sides and very small. There was always something you could find don’t get me wrong there but very repetitive, and very small. You can’t just walk in, there was often wait times, as it is small. The “speciality” restaurants did not need reservations, again first coke first serve and you had to be there by 530 To get in; I’d much prefer booking, as I enjoy watching the sun set and enjoying my day. Also the main buffet area should be much closer than it is! The pools are not set up like most places I have travelled there is a main pool as soon as you walk in, it’s open and hardly has any One in it at all, there is nothing here in this area except a lunch grill. All the pools are between the buildings so those who book swim up rooms, your pool has the bars on it ( everyone of them) and those are the main pools everyone use. We was in building 1 and we used the poolBetween 1-2 this is an adult only section. We just used it as our room was there BUT the bartender was not the greatest in the afternoon when it rained he refused to get drinks he said and I quote “ I don’t get paid to get wet”, while I agree with this, it was a covered area, and we was all still in the pool sitting and he got up and stood behind the bar ( again the bar area was covered). Others we travelled with was at the pools between 3-4 and had excellent service and wonderful waiters, they even expressed how they made the trip for them. This is not a resort I would go To if I was in a wheelchair or had a can or walker, the deck areas are very soft, boards often bend and stick out, no shelter from the sun and like stated above, You have to walk a good 7 minutes to get to the Buffett. The pool between 1-2, the bartender who I won’t name acted like he hated his job, getting a drink was a bother. I will not forget the day it was raining ( shelter over the bar but the rain was kinda sideways) many of us stayed in the pool, he straight up refused to serve a gentleman who came for a beer, he said and I quote “ I don’t get paid enough to get wet”. Now I’m not expecting a man or women to stand in the rain, but at most he would of got a few drops on his arm as it was a covered area. It rained a lot during the afternoon and we can’t control the weather, so we made the most of it BUT tying to get an umbrella was near impossible, many rooms had them but we didn’t, the 7 min walk to supper in the rain was not fun. The good. Hands down the cleanest resort I have ever been to. No trash, no stink, nothing laying around garbage wise, cigarette wise etc… Honestly a very clean resort. Rooms was large, upgraded, and very clean, decks was beautiful. They had their own heat pumps and the ac was amazing! Our room was always the perfect temp. The west end grill ( lunch only) Had the best food! The best salads, burgers, and frys :) so yummy! The beach was amazing- the seas calm, the sand absolutely beautiful, one of the best beaches and calmest oceans I have ever seen down south. Lots of water activity’s, free and than there was always other doing tours right off the beach, wonderful bunch :) The locals didn’t hound you, If you said no- they’d respect that and move along. The 7 mile beach walk was very nice, lots of Options. The breakfast was yummy. Many of Options, consistent. We usually used the one by the main lobby both had the same things to offer and shout out to kaydene who greeted us every morning, she was one of the best staff members we had the pleasure to meet! The coffee bar had great drinks, the iced coffee with caramel was a hit to our group great snacks & yummy ice cream :) Overall i would say this resort is a 3 at best, 100% not a 5 star, I could go to Cuba and have the same as here. I’m disappointed for what I paid and what we had. Very huge let down and the people was not as helpful or friendly as Cuba. There is tons of room for growth and I’m positive that if they listen to the reviews that they’ll achieve that. If things improved I’d come back if not I’d visit Jamaica at a different location, I would not return here for the price, I have travelled a lot and could have got a lot more in Cuba for the price I paid. I’d love for them to take the feed back and make this resort great because it has all the potential to be just that!

Ristorazione ci siamo sempre trovati molto bene in tutti i vari ristoranti.

We enjoyed it!
I was really concerned about my stay at the Azul as I read far too many reviews! My main concerns were: Lack of sun beds - there are enough but not enough parasols on the beach. Yes, you do have to get up early to get both but that didn’t bother us as we are early risers - and why drink your morning coffee in a hotel room when you can be gazing at the Caribbean Sea?! Many people did tip the guys on the beach to reserve beds (us included once). It was very annoying that some beds were reserved but not being used till gone lunchtime. Ive read reviews about a lot of marine life - only starfish. I saw about three (boring) fish and my husband saw a sting ray and that was it. Disappointed but not the hotels fault!! We’re not pool people but if you are take note that there are NO parasols at all around the pool. Both the main pool and the swim up pools didn’t look very clean. Food - I liked the food. There are two separate buffet restaurants - one for breakfast and another for lunch and dinner. Both had good, tasty choices, however at lunch the restaurant did have a number of flies. There was a grill beside the pool that served jerk and another in the middle of the resort that did toasties etc. We only tried the Italian speciality restaurant which was fine (we were advised by other guests not to have anything Italian!). There’s also a Jamaican and oriental (closed on the night we wanted to go) restaurant that we didn’t try but didn’t hear bad comments about them. There is no reservation service and we heard others did have problems getting in but we didn’t. There’s also a very nice looking restaurant that I believe is for premier guests only but it was only opened once whilst we were there! There are no savoury snacks available apart from the Jamaican patties (really tasty) delivered about 11am but don’t last very long. These are found at the coffee bar which also serves ice cream and cakes throughout the day. The gift shop does sell crisps but we refused to pay $13US for a pack! Staff attitude - I cannot understand the negative comments! Maybe the odd one or two were having off days but everyone was polite and friendly. State of resort - the resort is generally in need of quite a bit of TLC - decking is dangerous in places, furniture worn etc, fabric chairs in buffet restaurant stained, but I can honestly say there was nothing that upset me. Beach sellers - daily selling stuff plus weed. Polite and no bother if you say no thank you, Transfer - 2hrs and bumpy! General - there was quite a lot of tipping - we took $200 US for 9 nights which was enough. Lots of loud Canadians. We walked along the beach in both directions- to the right you can buy lobster - very expensive. There’s also some gift shops (usual stuff!). Beware - if you walk to the end you’ll find yourself at the nudist hotel!! In the other direction there’s a bar/food. Free watersports are only the non motorised. Trips - we went snorkelling - not a lot of marine life to be fair, and to Rick’s cafe - not really for us. Note - snacks provided meant a packet of cheese puffs so be prepared. We also went swimming with the dolphins - really good BUT although the dolphins are in a large cove they cannot get out, so not for everyone. All excursions seemed expensive. All in all, we loved Jamaica and would recommend this resort if you’re not looking for a 5* - it’s now been downgraded to 4, which I would give if I was being very kind, on a good day!! Would I return - no but only because there’s more places I need to see!!
