The room and bathroom needs to be upgraded. This is my second time visiting and the room drape was falling apart. The paint is peeling off the wall. The bathroom is a mess to it self. Mold in the shower and the shower door filled with soap scum. I will be looking into other resort for my next vacation.

11 nights at Bahia Principe
Honest review. Returned home Tuesday 12th Nov after 11 nights at the Bahia on the Grand Side booked through Tui UK in January for a friends wedding. Flight out very good. Upgraded to premium (well worth it as you get the lounge at LGW and fast track). Surprisingly impressed with the onboard service and food/drink quality. I work for BA at Heathrow so had many options but did not want to risk staff travel into Kingston or via Miami. Tui were excellent and well worth the £150 upgrade each ! Arrival; I emailed ahead requesting a newly decorated room on the 4/5th floor. We were given an amazing newly refreshed room 18511 with beautiful views. Food; We had breakfast at the round house every morning at 0800. We love sitting outside to eat (something that is a rarity here in the UK especially at this time of year !!). Staff here were fab. Mimosas every morning nice touch too. Only negative…….. keep the food hot please 😉 ! Lunch was usually a takeaway at the jerk shack. Superb chicken, burgers, fries, rice n beans etc etc. Evening meals mostly at the Al La Cartes. Best were Don Pablo and Dolce Vita. No issues booking as quiet not busy as rainy season. Drinks; we love a rum cocktail and they were plentiful and strong. Spent most days at the pool and the drinks flowed well. We tried everything ! Red Stripe on draught good too. Top tip, take a beaker. Keeps it nice n cool for ages 👌🏻🍹. Grounds; they were so well looked after🌴. Everywhere was very clean. Room clean. Public toilets clean. No issues. Staff; a couple of special mentions. Ricky from maintenance. He came to fix our balcony door on arrival as it didn’t lock. He diagnosed the issue and came back 30 minutes later with a new lock. Superb quick service. Tanisha at the pool bar near to the luxury side was so so lovely. Always bringing us drinks and chatting/smiling. Alrlfred at Don Pablo. Always topping up our glasses with wine. All 3 are a credit to the hotel. All staff were very kind and always got a nice greeting. Beach; stunning clear waters especially at the far end. Very well kept and clean. This was our first time to the Caribbean for over 25 years. We were pleasantly surprised as after reading the negative reviews we were a bit concerned but do not read into them. It was nice and quiet there as rainy season. No problem getting a lounger even if you came down at 9-10 am. I think 4* is about right. Just need to up there game on the food side of things but other than that has a very chilled break. Yeah mon 👌🏻🇯🇲🍹🌴☀️

Average
I stayed at the family side of Bahia Principe which was very average. If you're looking for a clean place to sleep and the sense of feeling secured, then this is your hotel. Anything else, pay for the luxury side. I was constantly reminded by the front desk staff that I was not in the luxury part of the hotel. So I guess mediocre is my best description of this hotel. Also, the buffet was unimpressive.

Great hotel with fantastic staff
Fantastic hotel overall. Usual couple of niggles but nothing that detracted from the holiday. Room was a little tired BUT spotlessly clean and very comfortable. You can't always except to to be in a newly decorated room, it's the luck of the draw. A la carte restaurants were all good, some better than others but think that's down to personal preference rather than anything else. Majority of staff were amazing, really grateful you have chosen their hotel and very appreciative of any tips. There were a couple of older barmen who appeared to find it all a chore, especially if you asked for cocktails, unless you happened to have the tip in your hand before ordering. Amoy on guest services was fantastic, really helpful, many thanks to her. Good selection in buffet restaurants, something for everyone. Entertainment was all of a professional standard, unlike some other resorts we have been to where Karaoke is considered as the main entertainment. Only downside is that they run on a weekly programme so the same shows were on twice in our fortnights holiday. That said there is an alternative with live music on the terrace which was also very good. The only thing lacking is a quieter bar in addition to the sports bar which tended to get quite noisy when busy. This didn't however spoil the holiday in any way but would have been nice. Overall a great hotel. Previous reviews call out lots of issues but if you read between the lines they are mainly very nit picking. If that's you then suggest you don't visit the Caribbean at all as every hotel we have ever stayed in have these very minor issues.

Simply amazing!
This place is simply outstanding from the service to the food to the people you want for nothing. You’re taking care of all the time and I almost feel guilty about all the things they did for us. Going back to the food the French kiss is the jerk centre from the jerk, chicken jerk, pork, or Flame grilled burgers and all the little access co ories on the side to go with them. Just delicious. They had a few buffets. They had a little bit of everything for everyone all the other carts we went to never missed felt like you were fine dining. My only issue was with the beaches. The first beach we went to near the waterslides we found were too shallow and they put the line too short, so you really couldn’t go out too far but other than that, the water on that area was crystal clear and the sand was pretty much like sugar sand Now if we go to the other beach near the gazebo, different story grab your water shoes lots of pebbles and in the water itself always crystal clear but lots of rocks so be careful. Which in my mind would make sense now when you look at their pool, their pool is enormous and wraps are halfway around the resort and the entertainment at the pool is amazing, the animators we’re funny, engaging and always make sure you had a good time. I spent a little bit more time there just because of them! The rooms are very nice if you get an updated one it is an older resort and they are updating so I’m not mad at it. I simply say this because my son had an older room and we had a newer one, but I mean first world problems. We went to get married there, and Tasheka and her team from the beginning to the end were just simply amazing the cat trust took care of us and we wanted for nothing. They have two gazebos on the resort one on the family side one on the adult side both provided spectacular views and options for pictures. We were not disappointed. Lastly, for us, we think the sweet spot is 10 days minimum. Seven days is too short lots to do and you’re never bored. .
