Feb 19, 2025Pool Chair Saving was ridiculous
The biggest drawback of this resort is the absurd saving of chairs at pool and beach. We went to the pool at 5:45am and there were literally 2 chairs remaining at the pool. And we would sit all day watching people walk by looking for chairs all while many of the “saved” chairs were empty till well past noon or later. That is ridiculous. The resort was lovely. Our swim up room was very nice. Our maid was terrific. The staff were friendly. The food was good. And we had lots of fun. There were some language issues, but most were overcome by slowly speaking and looking at a translator.

Scratchy. Sheets, threadbare towels, single ply TP, indifferent staff and so crowded you had to fight for everything. The beach area was a disaster - way too many people for too few chairs and space. And ravenous mosquitoes even deep woods off can’t fight. Also the constant upsell, from arrival to spend hundreds more for ‘Privelege’ and relentless on the beach- unlike other resorts Bahia doesn’t prohibit beach trinket sellers. Cleanliness around the resort was sub par, especially in the washrooms. No one told us anything, at all. We were encouraged to scan a QR code to find our way around. When we walked around and through the various resort lobbies just to take a look around we were actually asked to leave - shocking and embarrassing. The music was all day and relentless, despite requesting a quiet room we never got one. And when the door lock malfunctioned staff were angry to have to respond to our call for help. That was not my first but was indeed my very last trip to the Dominican Republic.

Bahia Príncipe is incredible. I came here with my family, as a young man aged 22 years old and it was perfect. There is a lot of entertainment for all ages, the staff is incredible. Ismael is the greatest. They do games everyday, action all around the day. It’s the perfect place for solo travelers and family. I recommended a lot. Again, shoutout Ismael, you made our week better!

Dolphin Island Rep on Resort
I’m not sure if this is allowed or not but I want to inform others. The resort has Dolphin Island representatives in the resort who follow you around the pool and lobby who are very persistent. We asked the man to let us swim with our kids and we would come back after we’re done but he circled back numerous times interrupting us with the kids 3 times. $360 USD for a family of 4 (our youngest was “free”) was the price he gave us for the Dolphin Swim. We told him that we were interested but we wanted to know if we could take our own pics, or get a price for the photos so we know our costs in total. From there the rep (Jamie) told us all lies. Saying he can’t get us a quote on the pics they’re done by a 3rd party (Not true) he assured us the pics were really inexpensive 20-40 but he can’t remember (bs). He said I can stand off to the side and take pictures from the platform if I don’t swim (Impossible) So we switched our excursion to the Dolphin Island after hearing the lies and after paying the 360$ USD to do the swim, they wanted 120$ USD for a bunch of unprofessional pictures. They had maybe 2 or 3 good ones out of 30 shots of chaos and there wasn’t one good photo of the 4 of us. There are no options to buy one or two photos, a flat rate for the size of your group. It was really frustrating to be perused and lied to so vigorously in our own resort.

Lovely experience
I have not done all inclusive in a long time, i was a bit apprehensive. I thought it was excellent value for money. I thought the hotel was lovely. I thought the food was good and I am a picky eater. The staff were fabulous. I had a problem and one of the managers Jesus, dealt with it personally, nothing was a problem to him, really professional guy. The entertainment team does some amount of work, those guys are trying to entertain all the time and they deserve massive credit for the effort they put in. Great experience.
