    Very good hotel

Bahia Principe Sian Khan. The staff are brilliant and cannot do enough to help guests. The food in the buffet is a sheer delight plenty of choice freshly cooked and suitable for all tastes. The fine dining is interesting and well worth booking. THe second time we have stayed at this hotel and I have to say it was better the second time round.

Highly unmet expectations with customer service

This was our 4th time travelling to Bahia Principe, 3 times at Siaan Kian and once at Tulum (when bringing kid). This was our go-to location, travelling every 4-5months. We wanted this to continue, however, our most recent stay at SK was less than expected. Since we had been there 3 times before, we thought we knew what to expect, but unfortunately those expectations were not met. There were still a lot of positives; the staff friendly, food was good, a la carte dining was delicious, gym renovations were great. But the negatives made the trip less than ideal. There were obvious cutbacks; quality of towels, quality of room (significantly smaller than all other stays), terrible bed, reduced buffet selections. The two biggest issues, the bed was the worse I’ve ever stayed in. We did mention this numerous times to the front staff, they did offer a mattress topper, which did very little. It would have been nice to have been switched to a more comfortable room, however beyond the topper, nothing was offered. I could barely move most mornings waking up and even had a migraine triggered because of how bad the bed was. Our relaxing 10-day stay was not relaxing because of this. The other major issue was the airport transport. We booked through the resort directly, so they were responsible for our transfer back to the airport. They sent us a confirmation email for the date we were to leave and when that day came, no transfer showed up for us. We spoke to the representative on-site, who tried to blame us for not checking with them the day before we left, even though we had the confirmation email. He told us, too bad you’ll have to get a taxi. The customer relations lady was helpful but ultimately told us to get a taxi. So we had to pay out of pocket for a taxi and was told to take it up with the company when we got home. After multiple frustrating calls and emails, we got an email stating it was a “system error” and they would reimburse us. We still haven’t received it. And were not offered any other compensation or anything for all the stress and hassle this “system error” caused. To say we are disappointed is an understatement. We loved the rewards program and were aiming to get to the next level in the next few months. One of the perks was to be private airport transfer, but how can we trust that system now? It’s no longer a desirable perk. We want to still love this resort. We want it to still be our go-to. But after the lack of customer support and service for a relatively small issue(s), I have zero faith the customer service would come through if something more significant happened. Needless to say, we are searching for our next resort to make our regular 4-5 month get away.

    Lots of potential

This resort has so much potential. It’s beautiful, with good food, friendly staff and lots of beach chairs. Unfortunately there is no one enforcing the rules, so people tend to smoke wherever and whenever they want without a care for the travellers that came to this resort because of the non smoking rules. I have even seen people smoking at the bar or next to security and the staff do nothing about it. The adults only private beach regularly has kids and other guests there. The shuttles that transport you around the resort can be a wait, and often the last people to show up for a shuttle rush to be the first on so be prepared to miss a shuttle opportunity.

Great Staff but not for me

I really wanted to like this place as the staff are lovely and work really hard and the grounds are lovely. Unfortunately that's where it stops. I have never been a fan of All Inc resorts & the BH did nothing to change my mind. Rooms - very spacious but basic, a bit shabby & and dire need of an update - I was on a top floor room and it had a strong smell of damp. Pools - too shallow to swim in - seem to have been designed for people to stand around and drink in. The lovely lady Marisol doing drinks service around the Cenote pool worked really hard to keep everyone's glasses topped up Beach - the beach is lovely however the complex has a motorway running through it so you are forced to queue at a stop for a "wally trolley" to get to the other 3 resorts & beach and take your chances with the inevitable scrum of people fighting to also get on. One particularly aggressive gentlemen almost pushed me down a flight of stairs the the Akumal stop in his determination to get on before anyone else. Food - if you like beige food you will like the buffet - breakfast was ok but lunch and dinner was not for me - nothing was more than luke warm - I like to eat al fresco on holiday and nowhere other that the Cenote snack bar catered to this. The a la Carte restaurants ranged from ok to dire - the service seemed to sky rocket if you paid for the a la carte wine. Overall it did nothing to change my views on AI resorts but we made the most of our week long girls trip.

    Very disappointing

Food very poor, rehash of previous service in some instances. Restaurants are a sham and not the experience they purport to be. Wine is unpalatable, beer is weak. Pools are very loud. Buffet room is like a boarding school refectory, with lighting that is so bright and no sense of relaxed, pleasant dining. It's just fodder.
