This was our 4th time a this resort. What we like about Barcelo Ixtapa is the beautiful sunset, beach, pool, food, and the kind workers that serve you with a smile and remember you from the past visits and thank you for coming back! Our favorite lifeguard is Alejandro…he greets everyone by the pool. He helps you when you need assistance. Felipa, our maid, kept our room neat and tidy and left us with towel animals. The pool bar, Oscar and Carlos always had a smile. Claudio and Alex served us at the lounge bar at night and at the entertainment at night. All such great workers. The entertainment team at night put on the best performances….best shows we have seen at the resorts we have been to. One of my only complaints though is the smoking…especially on the patio at night. It’s offensive to smell that. Another thing to beware of is the crowd on the weekends. The pool gets really crowded and multiple people have their boom boxes blaring. Alongside the music that the resort is playing. We felt the food was good at the restaurants…no complaints. We mainly ate at the ala carts. We were premium…and I suggest that if you can swing it. Easy to book the restaurant and the time you like to eat. All in all great trip! Thank you!

Resort was in a great location. You could walk to great restaurants and small shops. Beach and pools were good and great place to relax. Staff was friendly and helpful.

We will definitely go back!
Fabulous location and beach. Resort is easy to get around, not too big. Staff speak very good English. Food was very good. Shout out to some outstanding staff: Christina in the breakfast buffet - excellent service. Young lady who greeted us at the Miramar at breakfast and the snack bar at lunch. I didn't get her name. She wore round glasses and had the prettiest smile. Abril, who cooked our morning eggs was so friendly and made great eggs. Great pool bartenders: Oscar and Luis. Claudio, bartender in the lobby lounge always has a smile on his face. Felipa, our housekeeper did a great job. Lots of personal touches. Downsides: Smoking onsite. Not many activities at the resort (bocce ball, horseshoes, shuffleboard, kayaking, etc. would be great) Grumpy bartender in the lobby bar: Alexis. He ingored us. We often had to chase him down to get a drink.

Overall good but will not return
On the whole the Hotel was good. I feel some information was lacking, Al La carte meals were good but QR codes should be given out at checking, we had to go to the front desk to obtain them.. The hotel has dress codes for the A La carte dinners that are not informed. Information was lacking regarding special lunches and dinners. I was very surprised that smoking was allowed anywhere, people smoking on the beach ( some cigarette buts were found) one person also smoking cannabis, and a special smoking bar was set up . Smoke blew into the Hotel bar through the open doors and up to the balconies above the smoking area, consequently we couldn’t sit outside in the evening. For these reasons we wouldn’t stay at the Hotel again.

Stayed 10 days, rooms are clean, AC is lacking, needs some updating. Staff if friendly and accommodating. Food is average.
