I give it 3 stars
My second stay a year apart and it's gone down hill..bar staff isn't friendly but I feel bad as they work so hard. The beer at bars on tap was flat and terrible..the pop was flat and was most upset seeing that they only rinsed the cups not washed them especially with the turnover of people using them. First trip in all our years of traveling we became pretty sick with our stomachs..food was delicious and lots of variety..staff at restaurants were amazing and so was housekeeping..rooms could use updating and beds were really hard..beach was wonderful and wish people wouldn't litter and pick up after themselves as the staff are way too busy and work very hard. Overall I've been twice but probably wouldn't return

Not bad but not great
The beach and pools are great. There are not enough dining options during the day, your only choice is a buffet or a super basic sandwich at the lobby bar. Other all inclusives have more and better food options during the day. For dinner there are 4 restaurants that you are required to make a reservation and a dress code for men is enforced. I was not able to locate this policy anywhere on the website. The alcohol options were very limited with only 2 draft beers and lower end alcohol. All in all I would choose another all inclusive.

Barcelo Maya Beach Hotel
The rooms are a bit dated and need a refresh. They are however quite clean and comfortable. I found the food at the buffets to be fresh and a large selection. The staff at this resort supply excellent service and are very friendly and accommodating. There are many bars and all have cold bottled water. The beach is very large with soft sand. The only shade at the beach is from the palm trees. This resort is big! You will find yourself walking a lot, so bring comfortable shoes. I have been to the Mayan Rivera 14 times. This is my first time at this resort. Based on my experience here, I wouldnt hesitate to book this hotel again. There will always be something, like no face cloth. we bring our own as well as a towel for the beach. The hotel towels all look the same. Suntan lotion is expensive 910 mxn pesos about 65 canadian dollars. Bring your own.

Great time as usual at BARCELÓ MAYA
Love the beach. Very clean no sea weed on the beach or in water. We’ve stayed in the Cribe and the Tropical before but always end up using the beach in front of the Barceló Beach so we just thought we’d stay at this one this time. Wasn’t disappointed as you can still use the accommodations on the other resorts. Love the pools and the buffet. Service was very good. We will be back! Mainly because of the amazing beach!!

Staff excellent! Julio the Beach Manager is exceptional! Selena at the Beach Buffet is the best server we have ever experienced while travelling. Irene at the pool is always welcoming and attentive. Clean, beautiful grounds, beach and the food is fantastic! Hom away from home!
