Great Experience!
The activities were amazing at the Barcy club. Sarai, Zia, Susie and Lulu were the best. We had our best vacation ever. Barceló has everything, nice beaches, a lot of amenities and the best food. You don’t need to be out of the property. There is everything in there.

Pleasant Vacation
Our second visit at Barcelo Maya Colonial first one was back in 2011. It was a good experience with Pros and Cons. Cons:Slow service at pool bar due to not enough bartenders Service in the buffet is a hit or miss.Either you have prompt service or either being totally ignored(I think that depends servers have a good or bad day maybe) Pros:A la carte restaurants and night Shows. Here is where Barcelo really shines. We ate at Kyoto ,Capri and Santa Fe and I can tell Food, service, ambience was nothing but perfection.Well done Barcelo. Night entertainment musical shows at Palenque Theater are the best shows Las Vegas style we have ever seen at a resort in 20 years. Musicians and Dancers are top class.Their female lead singer I wish I knew her name is not only an amazing singer but a great dancer too and a gifted pianist I had the pleasure to listen to her performances at Colonial Lobby bar. Would like to mention few of the staff who really outperformed on their duties and deserve gratitude Sara Lopez our maid Natividad food stations Colonial Tropical Buffets Elisa bartender Tropical Margarita waitress Colonial Lobby Bar It is a beautiful resort well kept grounds nice clean facilities , a resort with great potential. All in all we had a great vacation and yes we would recommend this resort to anybody who wants to have a nice relaxing vacation. Thank you Barcelo

Awesome week
Stayed at Colonial with my son, his wife and 2 grandkids ages 10 and 12 December 1st till 9th. Check in was quick. Only one group in front of us. The bellman walked us to our rooms with all our luggage. From touch down at the airport till arrival in our rooms was just over 2 hours. Grounds: beautiful with gorgeous mix of plants. We loved the walk from our room to lobby checking out the foliage. Gardeners were busy planting and keeping everything well watered and tidy. Rooms: we stayed in Jalisco rooms 6359 and 6346. Close enough to each other. Rooms were spotless and kept clean all week. I would leave at 830 for breakfast and come back to my room all made up. I had the wifi router in my room so internet was great but non existent in my son's room. The coffee maker was ok if you only put 3 or 4 cups of water in. Took a couple of nights to find the sweet spot with the AC and get used to the humidity. The bed sheets felt damp but the king bed was very confortable and pillows great. Pools: the pools were colder than the ocean but once you get in it was fine. We hung out at the Colonial pool by the Barcy club. Lots of chairs available and did not see and chair hogs at all. We did not have to play the chair game at all. Beach: we wandered down a few days to Beach as it was less rocky there. We parked ourselves by the pool bar and washrooms. Due to the retreat going on the beach was empty all day. It was perfect. Only a 10 to 15 minute relaxing walk which was perfect after the huge breakfasts. Food: we were able to book 5 a la cartes as soon as we arrived. The only late one was Kyoto at 930. But the tempanyaki was worth it. The kids loved the show. I had the surf and turf and it was perfect. We also did Maranorstrom, food was really good though some in our group did not like what they ordered. Santa Fe, the tenderloin was the best out of all our orders. It was loud and felt crowded. Mexico Lindo was beautiful, quiet and we had a huge table. Service was great food was really good. We all love Mexican food. Breakfast buffets had lots of variety. No complaints at all. The beach restaurants varied for lunch. Captain Morgan's was our favorite. The one at Beach our least favorite. We skipped Capri and instead went to Beach buffet. Dinner buffets had lots of variety. Kids loved the candy buffet on our last night. My son and grandson did a day at surf rider and had a blast. No lessons but they seemed to master it by the end if the day. The family enjoyed Strikers. Kids had fun with the games and hockey tables. The Mexican market was fun. We picked up some souvenirs there. The prices are jacked up in the evening so definitely negotiate. Seemed that it was easier to barter with pesos. We only checked out one show. Way too loud for us. So we bailed. Lobby bar made some great espresso and chocolate martinis and the boys loved the virgin mango tangos. The drinks are slightly different at each bar but all good. Enjoyed the Margaritas, Palomas and Sangrias. Other than that we spent a day at xel ha and my son and oldest grandson did deep sea fishing. Overall a great vacation!
