Alexander is the Greatest
We dined at the Agave Restaurant. The food was outstanding. The mariachi band played for us and they were amazing. But, our experience was perfect because our servers, Alexander Hernandez and Omar pimionta did such wonderful job. Alexander and Omar were friendly, professional and took care of all our needs. Management is lucky to have such great employees.

There’s potential but totally misses the mark!
My list of cons outweighs my pros for this resort as follows: Pros: 1) large infinity pools 2) close beach access- lots of chairs 3) clean resort 4) gift shop open late Cons: 1) Food is just ok, not 5 star resort quality. Only 4 restaurants that are adults only to choose from and they’re just ok. Big problem for me was there was only 1 buffet for breakfast and lunch. Just not enough options. Food at the buffet gets old and boring very quick. Nothing is fresh it’s all precooked and cold by the time it gets put out. Latte machines never worked, service was slow, but enough waiters at the buffet. Ask for a drink and it’ll take 15 minutes to get one, by then you’re finished with your food. No condiments in tables and again have to wait 15 minutes for it to get to you. 2) Wine is not included at any restaurant you have to pay extra 3) Room service is not included- ridiculous! What does all inclusive mean to this company? 4) Hotel has no app to use- no idea what’s going on, can’t book any reservations, you have to go to guest relations to book dinner and they require you to get a freaking piece of paper to take to the restaurant- it’s 2024 and we’re using paper tickets?? You cannot change a reservation without the paper ticket either. Reservations are either 6-6:30 or 8:30-9 nothing in between. The system is ridiculous and a waste of time! 5) Only 1 bar in the lobby 6) Room mini bar is soda and corona beer only- no wine, no liquor 7) Hotel has extremely limited entertainment and it’s not good. 1 kind of entertainment each night; jazz, saxophone, mariachis, etc… and it’s in the main lobby area that you can hear through the entire resort. Only starts at 10 pm. Bring a sound machine of you’d like to sleep 8) No clubs or any shows besides the main entertainment- there is a “club” at one of the other resorts but it’s on the side with kids. Not adults only. Also have to take a bus to get over there that runs maybe every 20 minutes. 9) Towels at the pool have to be “checked out”- they are using a notebook that you have to write down your name and you’re only allowed 1 towel per person- are we children?? Then when you return them they want you to look through pages of paper to mark your name off! It’s absolutely ridiculous! Again it’s 2024 and we’re writing on paper? And you’re monitoring towels??? This is an adults resort, can we just have the towels we need??!!! 10) Room AC - you’re not allowed to lower it past 20 degrees Celsius. Our room was hot and sticky and we just wanted it a few deferred cooler to sleep comfortably. Asked the front desk who said they’d send maintenance up to “fix” it, guy only brought in a ladder and stood on it for 10 minutes and then said oh yeah it will only go to 20. So that was pointless- finally they told us that they can change it to go less than 20 by remote access only through them. So they finally allowed it to go less than 20 which made our room much more comfortable- again are we children?? Can I not just adjust my thermostat!! 11) Room has Zero washcloths- super weird- only hand towels and big towels available. This resort puts incredible limitations on adults who have paid thousands of dollars to stay here for a relaxing vacation. Management needs to reevaluate their determination to satisfy their clientele. The level of service is just not there, no one gives a crap about your stay they are probably getting paid terribly so they just don’t care. I will not be back and I will not visit other Barcelo resorts either.

BARCELO ADULTS ONLY
Good amenities for a large property. Hard to accommodate group bookings and disconnect between 6 hotels. Beautiful rooms and pool area. Buffet was plentiful but room for more seafood options. Nice a la cart restaurants with fancy options. Far from airport, consider private shuttle.
