Family vacation
Overall a great time and a nice resort. Definitely some things that can be improved. Our beach was very rocky but if you walked down to the other beach it was perfect. They didn’t really have tacos and that’s what you think of when you go to Mexico. The pools were really nice. The buffets had plenty of food options. The cleanliness of the resort was great. The staff was friendly and nice.

AVERAGE STAY - LOTS OF PROS, but also LOTS of CONS
SERVICE - The people who work at the resort are super nice and friendly everywhere you go. The nicest staff I've ever encountered at an all-inclusive. However, the MANAGEMENT & staff at the entertainment place STRIKERS are really rude and could care less about you. If there is an issue, if will not get resolved in a fair way. They are very black and white with how they approach issues and it's not in your favour. ROOM - Super damp and ours smelled strongly of Ammonia/Cleaner the whole time. The beds are SUPER small. Not large enough for two people to comfortably share. I think it's because they are doubles and not queens. Made it a challenge for our family of 3 to share one room. 2 adults + child. The bedsheet felt wet and cold everything we got in. The room was cold/damp and I think they disable the heat in the summer, because we could not turn the heat on. It showed it was working, but didn't actually work. Our friends who stayed also complained of the same issue, so I think it's a thing to consider. FOOD - Mediocre. Not horrible, but far from great. Salad bar had some okay options. Otherwise, it felt overall that the quality of the food wasn't very good. However, we did discover the Maya Caribe Buffet and it was pretty great. Far more options and freshness seemed much better. The quality wasn't bad. You could find some decent things to eat. The restaurants were VERY CLEN and I think they follow very strict health and safety with the food as it was always on ice if it was cold and aways heated on hot plates, if the dish was supposed to be hot. We never had any stomach issues the whole trip. The staff in the restaurants were amazing! They were so kind, helpful and always cleared plates and brought drinks with a smile. Bring lots of tip money if you go here. They deserve it. THE POOL - Water was waaaay to cold to swim. Huge downside. Would never return for this reason. I didn't even go in the water it was so cold. My daughter and her friends went for a little bit, but preffered the beach as the water was warmer. BEACH - Rocky, but there are nice sections. Including sections with fish. Was nice and fun for the kids to swim with the fish and feed them. THE GROUNDS - Really well kept and beautiful. The best part about the resort. You felt like you were in a tropical rainforest with lots of wildlife, we saw lizards, capybaras, birds of different colours, squirrels etc. It's not a lot of walking, despite what many reviewers said. Walks are pleasant.

Will Return!
Beautiful resort! Overwhelmingly large. So much to over in ways of activities, entertainment, shopping and dinning. Definitely need to come back to explore more.

beautiful resort...rude staff
Beautiful beach, good food, awful service at the bars and buffet. Never experienced such rude staff at any all inclusive before which leads me to believe they are not happy and that's a management problem! Being completely ignored and looked over for mostly drunken regulars was weird. Sorry but you're in the hotel/service industry...do better. Great service at al a cartes. Best was Kyote! Best food and service we had at an al a carte. Had to get up at 6:30 am to grab a beach chair. Very chaotic. We enjoyed the piano bar I the colonial, and the mall was very impressive! Even won at the casino. My sister got ill on the trip and we went to the 24 hour dr. She was amazing! kind, caring and very knowledgeable. She diagnosed my sister and was given meds and 24 hours later she was feeling a lot better. Thank you to the dr, she's an asset to the resort! Rooms are very humid even with the air conditioning, our clothes were always damp. Definite mold problem. Smelled very strange. Rooms in need of an update. Lots and lots of families with small kids and lots for them to do... I think had the staff been better trained and happy that would have made a huge difference in my rating. Its hard to fully enjoy your holiday when you wonder what you did to get this treatment from all staff Also no eating anywhere except sitting in the restaurants which was disappointing. Who doesn't love fries on the beach? I would go back to Barcelo but probably Beach, Caribe or adults only, which was always very quiet, but beautiful resort on the best part of the beach (same with Beach and Caribe) We did enjoy our holiday as it was a trip with my sisters for my birthday so nothing could dampen how much fun we had! (oh, birthday champagne and strawberries ordered by my fiancé for me was delivered to the wrong room)
