    My stay

My stay at this hotel was one of the best I have ever had when I was there I felt loved and cared for by the very well trained staff. One problem was that the beach chairs there wasn't enough of them.

    nice enough resort

This was a nice enough resort, but i would say to big as the food and drink suffers. The food at buffet was usually barely warm and the drinks seemed to very watered down. When 6 shots of tequila in a hour barely gets a buzz something is wrong!!

    Good resort

First time trying this resort and we would go back. We've had better food at other resorts in the Mayan Riviera, however we always found something we liked. We already knew about the chair game, so decided to bring a large beach towel and we just parked our stuff on it every day instead of looking for chairs (it didn't bother us and wasn't an issue we're on vacation!). Activities and music everyday at the Tropical pool. One day we visited the cenotes (Cristalino) across the highway. HIGHLY recommend. Swam with the turtles and fishes off the Palace beach (amazing experience). We loved the layout of this resort compare to the other ones we've been at. We would return just for the layout and all the added things this resort has (mini putt, arcade, snorkling at the beach, proximity of cenotes, etc).

Scammed by Barceló – Lied and Downgraded My Room Without Consent

I booked a stay at Barceló Maya Tropical, but when I arrived, they switched me to Barceló Maya Beach without any explanation or warning. I showed them my original booking confirmation, but they didn’t care. No apology, no compensation — just a quiet downgrade. The room wasn’t what I paid for, and they refused to fix it. I had proof — emails, confirmation details, everything — but they acted like it didn’t matter. This wasn’t a mistake, it was intentional. Barceló clearly plays games with room assignments and hides behind vague policies. If you’re thinking about staying here — don’t. They don’t respect your booking, and they won’t make it right when they mess up. Total scam behavior.
