Disappointing
Unfortunately, our stay at this resort was a major disappointment. After just two nights, we decided to check out early, fully aware that getting our money back would be a battle. However, the hassle and frustration of staying there wasn’t worth it. We knew the resort was rated 3.5 stars (closer to 3 than 4), and we were okay with that. While some of the bartenders and buffet staff could clearly use more training in hospitality, and the food was decent, we weren't expecting luxury. The resort itself is outdated, which we anticipated. None of that was the real issue. The problems started on day two, when we were locked out of our room. When we went to the front desk, they told us we had been informed at check-in that we needed to move rooms due to our late check-in. We were told we checked in too late, but we checked in at 2 pm, well before the typical check-in time. We asked for clarification, but instead of a reasonable explanation, we were repeatedly told it was our fault. Here’s how a reputable establishment would have handled the situation: “We had a booking error, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We overbooked, and the room you were given was not intended for guests. We will assist you in moving, and we’d like to offer a spa voucher for the trouble.” But that’s not what happened. Instead, we were gaslighted. Three different staff members insisted we had been informed and blamed us for arriving late. When I pointed out the staff member who checked us in, the manager completely ignored me and refused to address the situation with them. At that moment, we realized the level of professionalism we were dealing with. We were then shown the new room, but it wasn’t clean and contained someone else’s belongings. We returned to the desk, once again, to sort things out (this was our fifth or sixth time at the desk that day). At that point, we asked about compensation, and they offered an upgraded room, which was surprising given their earlier claims of being at full capacity. However, they required us to transport our luggage to the desk at 11 am and pick it up at 3 pm, with no offer of assistance. When we finally got into the new room, we encountered more problems. The door handle was broken, and the toilet didn’t work. We had to use the lobby bathroom. We notified them about the toilet at 8 pm, and by noon the next day, it still hadn't been fixed. At that point, we decided to check out and find another resort. Over the course of two days, we spent between 2 and 3 hours each day trying to resolve these issues, which made for a far from relaxing vacation. When I sent a detailed, two-page complaint requesting a refund, the gaslighting continued. One of their claims was that the toilet had been fixed, which was simply false. They also have a strict no-refund policy, so even after everything we went through, they refused to offer any compensation. If you decide to stay here, be prepared for poor service and a frustrating experience. Best of luck.

Will never return to bluebay villas...very disgusting
Would NOT recommend this resort. Rooms nasty, gaps under the doors, shower clogged, plumber came twice and didn't have tools to properly unplug it, shower head broken, they did fix that Iron only worked on low setting. Windows would NOT lock. Bugs crawled under door. NEVER AGAIN

Dirty and Dingy
If you’ve never been anywhere before you’ll probably be fine here but if you’ve ever stayed anywhere else this place will be at the bottom of your vacation experiences. Travelled here with several family members and their spouses and couldn’t wait to go home. Resort was dated and dingy. Feels like someone is milking the last $ out of the place without any improvements or up-keep until they turn it into condos or flip it. Smoking and vaping everywhere. Chairs were broken and stained and lacking in number. If you wanted to be by the pool expect to go “save one” by 7am. Good luck getting a clean beach towel everyday. Spa and fitness centre disappointing; massage ok but for the price you’d expect a nicer atmosphere, not having to listen to an air conditioner that’s overdue for maintenance chug loudly. Food was greasy, over salted and bland. Drinks ok but margaritas are made with vodka. Staff seemed annoyed and attitudes were generally cold except a few. Beach ok, lots of vendors constantly looking for sales. Water tougher, don’t expect any visibility. Rooms cold and dated- only a sheet and small blanket available; safe extra $ which we were fine to pay for but they didn’t get it open and said they’d send someone later who never showed up. Got a “clean”face cloth that the previous user used to blow their nose with leftover bio material that the washing machine clearly didn’t clean properly.

Great week away!
We absolutely loved our stay! We met amazing new friends and enjoyed every minute that we were there. The staff were all great and went out of their way to make sure we were having a wonderful time. The chinese and italian a la cartes were fantastic, it would be hard to choose which was our favourite! The beach bar has the best fried chicken, I would return just for that lol. Special mention to Junior, Jose, Antonio, Yuliana, Carlos, Armando and Franklin. Hopefully we will return soon!
