Good stay with a few hiccups
-Rented a privileged family suite in building 10 (8201) from March 15-29 and were quite happy with the accommodation. -Room service was ok, although they did refuse to clean our suite because one of my kids left the iPad out playing music. This was strange as it was out the entire time with no issue, only on day 12. -No coffee shop at this resort. -Beach on the regular side was almost always unusable due to seaweed. Our side was fine. -Not enough lounge chairs, and the towel game here is insane with chairs booked at 6am without being used all day. -Steak at Beloved was terrible, deserts were good. -Buffet is repetitive but quite good, even after two weeks -Easy walk to the dolphins area, and we did rent a golf cart twice, which the kids loved. -Privilege swimming pool is TINY -Lineups at bars can be lengthy, including privileged area -'Holiday Taxi Services/All The Way Taxi' is a HUGE SCAM!! I paid months in advance, they didn't wait at the airport for me to finish going through customs, and they didn't pick us up or communicate at the end of the trip. "Mechanical failure" was their excuse, and i have yet to be reimbursed for the services. Taxis are the airport tried charging me $5000 pecos for one way to the hotel, which is a complete rip off. I ended up still getting ripped off, but 3900 was better than 5000. The hotel taxi in comparison charged $1400 pecos for the return trip. Very unfortunate such corruptions are tolerated with the entire area revolving around tourism. -Be mindful of letting kids feeding the animals on site. My youngest was bitten quite badly, although I warned all my kids to stop feeding them. Lesson learned the hard way. -Sports activities and entertainment team deserve a pat on the back. We were beyond entertained the entire trip. Beach volleyball was a hit too -Ice cream shop at the other catalonia was excellent, and my kids looked forward to it daily -Sun is INTENSE, so remember to apply lots of sunscreen throughout the day -Bring snorkeling equipment if possible. We spent several hours each day watching the many tropical.fish, eels, barracuda etc.

Awesome resort!!!
We just checked out today and will 100% be back!! The resort, the people, the service and the food were second to none!!!! Our room was clean and very up to date! We had coffee, water, pop and beer stocked daily! The buffets were delicious with lots of choices. The food was repetitive but so is par for the course. The a la cartes were all amazing. We were Privileged so we also had access to B Loved which was delicious no matter what meal you had there. The pools were amazing, the privileged pool was quiet and low key, which is how we like it. The other pools had lots of entertainment to enjoy!! We didn’t spend much time at the beach because we prefer the pool but it seemed nice, especially by the lagoon. We also enjoyed the short walk to the marina daily to see the dolphins, shops and restaurants!! 100% recommend!!

Amazing place and staff
We stayed at catalonia Riveria Maya for a week in Mar 2025. The resort was awesome, location was perfect, huge swimming pools, fantastic staff, amazing entertainment by the Animation group. Cecilia is amazing at Aquagym, and a great performer too. Irwin, Marlene, Guaduleupe are amazing at entertaining. Food was good, we were able to book in all the restaurants in the morning on the app, dont miss your booked time at the restaurant as they hold booking only for 15 mins.George/Horge, Joe and Captain Antonio were great at the Diving centre. The servers in all the restaurants are very nice. Food was awesome at the breakfast and lunch buffets. Snack bars specially the creperie we loved. Entertainment would end at 10.30 (live show in the bar family lounge by9.30, followed by live show at the theatre for 45 mins) Dont miss any of their live shows as they are well choreographed.

Tired rooms and poor food
This hotel should be a gem but is let down by a few things. The rooms are generally tired, don’t be fooled by the glossy photos. Having stayed at this hotel now twice I can tell you that the rooms do not look like the photos. The food in the buffet restaurants isn’t bad and the service is generally good. The food in the Beloved restaurant is generally good and the service is excellent. The other restaurants that generally need to be prebooked are an issue. The food just isn’t that good and the service is poor. One of major challenges in this hotel outside of the buffet restaurants isn’t the side dishes. More often than not your entree doesn’t really come with any sides and if it does they are poor, a smear of cold mashed potato is pretty typical of the quality. This is a real pity as these side dishes cost next to nothing but their poor quality or absence leaves an impression of a hotel desperate to save money and this couple with the tired and dated rooms leaves an impression of neglect and poor quality.
