    Average resort. Definitely upgrade!

Pros; ✔️ Clean property overall ✔️ Housekeeping kept our room very clean ✔️ Buffet had a lot of choices ✔️ Crepes and Bikini sandwich huts by the pool were great for eating poolside ✔️ Japanese restaurant was great ✔️ Close to the marina and fun to walk around the gated community of Puerta Adventuras ✔️ Good entertainment ✔️ Overall friendly staff Cons ✔️ Check in was a nightmare. We waited probably 30 minutes in mine then when we asked if we could pay to upgrade our room they said none available. But offered us an ocean view room in their sister property next door for one night then said we could get upgraded to a better room the next day with privilege bands. We agreed. Don't do it! The "ocean view" room was in the neighboring property which was in dire need of repair/updating. Our room was old and dated and the view looked out to a side view of the ocean where the stinky seaweed was and dumpsters full of the stinky seaweed they were trying to keep up with. Immediately went to the desk and said this was unacceptable and I wanted our original regular rooms back (we had 3 rooms with our adult children there as well). Had to wait in line AGAIN then a manager came out and tried to still convince us to stay in the Oceanside room and I said no. Seems they were overbooked and were trying to get people to fall for this to get them to occupy the old property. Eventually after 3 hours we got to our room. While it was not a premium room it was clean. Definitely outdated but right near the pool which was nice. Our view was 10 times better as we still could see the water but not dumpsters. My advice...upgrade when you book. They seem to pay for attention to you if you have the privilege bands. ✔️ Pool bars needs more help. 1 bartender most of the time and it takes forever to get a drink and if you don't have a tip in your hand they ignore you. ✔️ You can't take any food from the poolside buffet out with you. Just wanted to grab a slice of pizza and they make you get a table ✔️ My husband got violently ill on Day 3 Had to be the salad at the Italian restaurant as it was the only thing I didn't eat. ✔️ Need more air moving in the lobby and lobby bar. It's so hot. Keep in mind while we were there the seaweed was awful but not the hotels fault There was no accessible beach at all. Overall this is a budget hotel. Definitely upgrade if you want any attention or access to better drinks/food. We had a nice time but won't go back.

BUDGET Resort only if you UPGRADE to Privilege.. Otherwise, TERRIBLE - AVOID.

I would rate this an overall "OK" experience.. some things are awful, and some things are pretty good.. but to sum up - I'd never come back here again. I think most of the time, these reviews dont mean anything. I think true reviews would be for us to simply NOT VISIT this resort... Reading my comments below, please keep in mind, we paid extra to be privileged guests when booking our package (thru apple vacations/ travel agent) and stayed Friday thru Friday. (1 week) in addition, we tipped regularly.. in the 7 days, we spent approx. $120 in cash tips. bars/ restaurants/ housekeeping. to SUM up, I'd classify this as a BUDGET resort ONLY if you upgrade to privilege. if you're not upgrading, please do not waste your hard earned money. RESORT: pretty clean, and beautiful grounds. the MAJOR problem, is that its PACKED! not only is the staff not able to keep up, but they let in LOCALS daily. and locals appear to be all privilege.. so you don't really get the privilege experience or any feeling of an upgrade, aside from the more modern room. SERVICE: TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE! as mentioned above, not enough staff to keep the guests happy. Privileged check-in area DOES NOT EXIST! we waited in line for nearly 30 mins to check in.. 1 of our 2 rooms was not year ready (it was 2pm) so they said to come back at 3pm.. when i came back, there was a huge line again.. i asked if i should stand in line again, and they said yes.. those are the rules... so another 15 min wait, to check in to the 2nd room. all in all.. there is ALWAYS a wait at the front desk. - Our room door closer/stopper was missing, and door was not working properly. the door was also rubbing on the floor (room 319) and I called them.. waited 5-10 mins, then after speaking with someone, they hung up on me, or call was disconnected. I went to the front desk (yes, i had to wait again) notified them of the door problem, and they said they made a ticket and will send someone.. this someone NEVER came, and the door was broken our entire trip. - we received ONE turn down service. we don't care, but this was a "privilege perk" - beach towels in room.. NOPE.. again, we don't care, but this was a "privilege perk" - Privilege lounge/ coffee.. NOPE.. - Privilege concierge.. NOPE - "privilege" is basically a nicer room.. we couldn't compare to the reg room, but met some people in the resort, that said the regular rooms were TERRIBLE, and were actually calling their agent to transfer to a different resort bc of the "service and dungeon style room".. we told them about the privilege rooms and they ended up paying to "upgrade" to privilege to get a decent room. - POOLs are all pretty small.. again, expect locals in the pools and using loungers. even though there are signs that you cant reserve loungers, unless you're up before 730AM, you will NOT find a shaded lounger. :/ - Pool was cleaned around 10am.. with a guy using some cleaner and had a glove on.. i'm not sure why this cant be done earlier so people are not sitting there in the pool exposed to whatever cleaner it is that they use to clean the pools.. - BAR service was ok. again, for being privilege, this should not be ok-it needs to be outstanding. there is a privilege bar (only for privilege folks) but they still used bottom shelf, cheap liquor to make mixed drinks, unless you specifically ask.. to which they seemed to be annoyed.. - Bar service was always 1 bartender.. again, its PACKED.. expect to ALWAYS wait. - the Margaritaville pool bar is NASTY! i think this is the only bar with 2 bartenders, but this is the smallest pool in the resort, and EVERYONE and their MOTHER was in this pool.. the water was matte, and dingy.. NASTY!!!! FOOD: highlight of the trip. Very good food overall. everything seemed fresh, warm, and delicious.. no complaints here. BEACH: I wont include this as a rating for the hotel.. Its not really the hotels fault if its seaweed season.. they did have some staff cleaning the seaweed, but it was always for part of the morning.. in the week we were there, they probably cleaned 50-60% of the seaweed from the shoreline. the beach NOT useable from the sand beach.. you had to go on the rock and stumble into the water, and you can then seek out some cleaner spots where you can actually swim in the ocean a bit.. - It actually has potential to be a REALLY nice beach.. they have netting, and wave barriers, so the beach has potential when not in seaweed season.

    A great holiday

Returned home last week from this wonderful holiday. We are a couple in our early sixties and the age range was across the board from tiny babies to a couple in their eighties. We travelled with TUI and we upgraded to the privilege package and this was brilliant for us. We have been to this hotel before - 18 years ago and not has changed structurally apart from the addition of the spa which we visited once to have the free hydrotherapy session which was part of our package. We were happy with our room which was in block 2, it looked modern and was immaculate. We stayed mostly within the resort, walked to the nearby Marina twice to see the dolphins and do a bit of shopping We mostly sat by the lagoon during the day, no problem getting a sunbed, near to the beach bar and the quieter pool We loved to see the animals that roam around freely, they are completely harmless . We has been there for about a week when the sargassum (seaweed) arrived and the hotel worked very hard to move it, truck loads every day but the beach directly in front of the Yucatan side of the hotel which is the main beach, is unusable! And it started to smell ! But apparently , although it’s normal for this time of year, it’s a lot worse this year. The food was very good , we ate in all the specialty restaurants, the Japenese was our favourite, Mariella was our server and she was very good. we had no problem booking everything on the app that you set up from the QR code at reception. We also liked the Beloved restaurant but the menu stays the same so we felt we had exhausted the choice! The staff are amazing and the hotel management should be proud of every one of them , everyone was friendly and you felt you could ask them for anything! We really enjoyed the buffet the choice was very good, especially the fresh fruit. The staff in La Brisa , the buffet on the Riviera Maya were especially helpful and friendly to us and they deserve a mention, Arturo, Wilbert and Gabriela , who always called my husband superman! We had the most relaxing, much needed holiday and we will certainly be back
