Beautiful experience
Just returned February 13th 2025 from this resort. Check in did take a bit longer then I would have liked. The rooms were very big the bathroom and shower was huge and very clean. Loved the app to book your dinners, didn't eat at the buffet for dinner. One thing about food they won't let you take it out of the restaurant even from the snack bar. I'm a sun worshiper and don't want to leave my chair! They wouldn't let my partner take me a snack! Then in the morning at the buffet I couldn't take out a coffee cup and the bar didn't get "plastic cups" until 0730 hours although they were there at 0700!!!! Was not happy with this. The dinners were excellent no issues. The dinner/show was just ok. The entertainment was lacking. The beach towels were awesome and didn't have to fight to get them changed. There was a pile out or they came at night to exchange it. We did not do B Loved because we weren't privileged which was totally fine. What was weird was there was no 24 hour bar. Not that we stayed up late but you go to Cuba you can still get a drink/coffee at any time. Not here! What was amazing was the staff! Everyone said hello. Everyone was so friendly it was amazing. Everyone was so accommodating it made you smile. The BIGGEST CON was the pick up at the airport. We walked around, back and forth the van almost left without us. There is no sign that says the hotel name or West jet or anything!!!! That was very frustrating. Then we waited over an hour to get the transfer back to the hotel. They really need to work on this. The set up scenery was such an experience. Although the first morning I had plastic crinkling in my hand and the jungle animals came out almost jumping on me there had to be 25 I screamed no idea what they were or what was going on but I figure they thought I had food. Otherwise I didn't do this again and they were fine. The rooms are set in the jungle you walk through the jungle down the lit up bridge to the pool and beach. YES a lot of walking which was great if your ok with walking. If your not this isn't the place for you. I will go again and recommend.

Lovely holiday but lacked the wow factor
The CRT website indicates that this is a 5 star hotel - we had a really enjoyable holiday but, in our opinion, the hotel is definitely not 5 star standard. The staff are lovely, the location of the hotel is great and we loved seeing the cute animals while walking to the beach. The beach is amazing with fine, white powdery sand and beautiful turquoise sea. However, no parasols are available and the only shade available is from the palm trees - consequently the sun loungers are crammed next to one another at the back of the beach with very little space between them (almost touching elbows with your neighbour). As the sun moves during the day the amount of sun/shade obviously changes but there is no room to move your lounger to get sun or shade as required (unless there are enough free loungers so that you can ‘bed-hop’). If you move your lounger closer to the sea to get a bit of space you end up with no shade whatsoever. The pool and pool area looked nice but there is definitely a rowdy ‘club’ atmosphere - on the whole this didn’t bother us as we are definitely beach people, but sometimes the music from the pool could be heard booming out on the beach. We booked the Privileged Deluxe package directly with the hotel 5 months in advance - the website states that Privileged Deluxe rooms are renovated rooms with double sinks in the bathroom and evening turndown service; the hotel map on the app indicates that Privileged rooms are in block 2. Our room was in block 3 and wasn’t to the standard we were expecting - although the daily cleaning of the room was to a good standard the room was badly in need of some TLC, e.g. the covers on the sofa needed washing and the door to the bathroom needed repainting as did the white painted headboard - over all our room just looked a bit ‘tired’. The bathroom had only sink and we only had turndown service three times during our eleven night stay (two of those after we’d spoken with reception) - no big deal as the main reason we’d booked Privileged was so that we could use the BLoved restaurant, however, it’s the principle that matters, if a hotel advertises these ‘extras’ then they should be provided. When we enquired at reception if we were actually in a Privileged room we were told that that we were but that block 2 had recently been renovated with double sinks and better lighting whereas the Privileged rooms in the other blocks had been renovated some time ago. Surely everyone paying for the Privileged package should get exactly the same standard of room and the same benefits …… we felt a little less ‘privileged’ than others. Due to the ‘jungle’ setting the rooms get very little natural light (this might not be the case for the top floor rooms, but definitely the case for our room on the first floor) and swimwear that we’d washed took two or three days to dry. Other reviewers have mentioned musty damp smells in their room; whilst our room didn’t smell, after about 5 days our clothes started to feel damp and when we arrived back home and opened our luggage everything did smell musty. BLoved restaurant was excellent and, for us, well worth paying the extra for the Privileged package. The standard and presentation of the food was top notch and the setting overlooking the beach is to die for. We are so glad that we were able to useBLoved as we weren’t overly impressed with the other dining options (we didn’t try them all as we were disappointed with the ones that we did try): Steaksville - the food was quite good but the atmosphere in the restaurant was non-existent, it felt like a school refectory with awful lighting; Tao Cat - the atmosphere here was better, nice setting and lovely staff, but the food was very poor and all of the dishes we ordered lacked flavour; Mexican buffet at La Palapa - quite a narrow selection of dishes to chose from when we arrived just after 8.30pm and none of them anything special; Sorrento snack bar - the food was ok. Despite not having the wow factor that we’d hoped for we did have a great time, however we will not be returning.

Amazing Experience at Catalonia Royal Tulum!
Our stay at Catalonia Royal Tulum was simply perfect! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and kindness by the incredible staff, who went above and beyond to make our vacation unforgettable. A special mention goes to the animation team, who truly made our days even more enjoyable. Diego kept us entertained with his great sense of humor, Paolina was always so sweet and caring, and Abraham was a true professional in every aspect—we absolutely adored him! We also want to give a huge shoutout to Nico and Leo. Being Italian like us, they made us feel right at home, grazie ragazzi! If you're looking for a place with outstanding service, a fun and welcoming atmosphere, and a team that treats you like family, Catalonia Royal Tulum is the perfect choice. We can't wait to come back!

The staff and surroundings were fantastic!
We had a wonderful time at Catalonia Royal Tulum. Lucky we had perfect weather and the beach was very clean both water and sand. Use palm trees as shade. Many loungers. Mainly a couples resort, so if you are looking for a party resort this is not it. It is small so you don’t get the massive crowds and very easy to navigate. Rooms are clean and spacious. The walkway is idyllic with many sightings of local small animals. Restaurants are many as there is no buffet for dinner. Would say that the buffet had many options and fresh. The restaurants need a little help. Both in ambience and food taste. The steakhouse was very good. Dinner/show Rauxa was an experience with great acrobatic show but the food was again around a 6/10. If you are into pool activities the staff keeps you busy. They also have yoga but the gym was small. Had a massage which was very good. Although no disco they have fun evening events around the pool. The staff is outstanding (although the front desk comparatively could learn from the other staff). Thank you to Aracely our beach waitress, Ricardo and Fernando at the beach bar and Paula our chambermaid. Would I go back, yes!
