Comfortable Stay with Outstanding Views!
We are friends in our 40s that stayed in an Ocean View room on the 9th floor, on a Thurs - Tues in January. Overall we had a comfortable stay. Here is our experience! Location: easily walkable to restaurants and bars. Uber/Taxi easy to get from morning to late in the evening. Beach: small, yes. Chairs were always laid out/available on the beach. If you want a larger beach, the main condado beach area is a few min walk on the other side of the Vanderbuilt Hotel. The small beach near the Condado Plaza has chairs/umbrellas to rent as well, and has calm water for swimming/wading. The water everywhere else in Condado is not safe for swimming, as many many others have said on TA. A couple times the hotel had a gate up to prevent people going on the beach due to really high winds. It's for safety and if you "really" need to get to the beach, there are many other access points. It's really not a big deal for us. Pool area: small pool, but beautiful. It's for wading around in with drinks or gazing at the ocean. It's not for legit swimming unless you happen to be in there solo. During our stay, we could always get chairs at the pool area. There are limited umbrellas, but that didn't impact us. During this time of year, sun was up late morning-early afternoon. If you need sun other times, walk to another beach. Drinks were crazy expensive, $22 for a pina colada was nuts for us and we only ordered one at the bar during our stay. There were a couple things we didn't care for: 1. Music: from first thing in the morning until at least 11pm (maybe later, not sure), there was music playing in the pool area. Mornings had calmer music and the beat picked up throughout the day. While not horrible, I would have preferred music not start until 1pm, so you could have the option of listening to the waves in the mornings. I wondered if people on the balcony rooms could hear the music with their doors closed? Sunday was a DJ and it did seem to get a little more lively and the drinks were flowing. We weren't really there that day, so this didn't bother us. Check the hotel website for when DJs are there, and if that isn't your thing, do something else that day offsite! 2. Instagrammers: wow. We couldn't believe how many people here were taking rather exotic selfies in the pool area, or had a photographer taking pics. Our beautiful ocean views were sometimes obstructed by thongs and bare bums. Ha. We laughed it off. Not a huge deal and I would rather have this than screaming kids. Food at the Hotel: We did not eat here, so can't comment. Rooms: Clean. Comfortable beds/sheets. The small frig had items for purchase and we just took some of the items out to make room for other drinks we bought down the street when we needed to. Housekeeping came every day and replaced towels and made beds. They also left free bottled water each day, which was nice. Some people have commented about the shower, and how it's a walk-in, so water gets into the main bath floor area. This was sort of true. We just laid out a towel at the entrance of the shower, and it wasn't an issue. Air conditioning was comfortable and quiet. The VIEW was outstanding and we enjoyed every minute of it! I found that the pics of the rooms on the hotel website were accurate. I've read reviews complaining about the lights, lack of hangers or lack of dresser space. The rooms are basic rooms and we found them to be fine for our stay. Other: The fire alarm went off around midnight one night. Rumor was someone was smoking pot in their room. I have read numerous reviews about the fire alarm going off. Just smoke weed somewhere other than the room! All staff we came across were friendly and helpful. Across the street there is day and night kayaking, which we didn't do, but enjoyed watching others! Overall, we had a nice stay. If I were to stay here again, I would make it a long weekend. I feel 2-3 nights is plenty. If I wanted more beach/pool time with ability to listen to waves or swim, I would stay in a different hotel. We had an active trip, so we were not at the hotel a lot. The staff were really great!

Not the best hotel experience
The staff at the hotel are very nice and the bed was comfortable. The location is fine and there are many restaurants in walking distance. Old San Juan is a 3 -mile hike and can be a pleasant walk along the ocean. We booked a balcony room for a quiet getaway from the winter. There are only 6 balcony rooms on the 3rd floor and ours overlooked both the pool and mezzanine. The balcony basically did not receive any sun but it did get noise from the music at the pool making it unpleasant and we were kept awake because of a Saturday wedding on the mezzanine that went until 12:45 AM (even after we complained three times.) The hotel website shows a beach front - but there is no way to use the beach in front of the hotel - since it is all rocky. One needs to leave the hotel and walk around to get to the beach where there are only chairs and an attendant. One must know to bring a towel from the pool. The pool is a moving target for the sun and after 5 it is non existent. The buildings shade the deck as the sun moves. Apparently we were entitled to $60 food and beverage credit but this was not told to us until we checked out. Housekeeping services were inconsistent - some days we were given clean glasses, other days none. Some days we received a full complement of bath towels other days we were missing the bath matt and hand towels. They would wash the floors in the room and leave them wet making them a slipping hazard since they were tile. The TVs are flat screen but not SMART. I would not stay here again nor recommend it.

A very loud, party hotel - not classy, with safety issues
In a nutshell: this is a loud, classless, party hotel with rooms that are not well thought out, inconsiderate and uncaring staff, and safety issues - we had to call the police regarding a screaming woman on our hall in the middle of the night. The long story: First off the rooms. Beautiful on the surface but not well thought out. No lamps by the bed so you have to cross the room at bedtime to turn the light off. Knob falling off one of the lights. Cheap furniture. The fridge is filled with drinks so there’s no room for your leftovers etc. No dresser to unpack clothes in, and just five hangers in the closet. Bathroom is tiny, at least in the double queen rooms. View is beautiful, at least from 807, I will grant you that, but there’s no balcony so you are closed in. Maid service is lacking, often delayed til late in the day, not returning your smiles or “holas” as you pass, turning our AC down from 70 to 62 so we returned to a freezing room, moving things around in our room, leaving a spray bottle in our room, not vacuuming the halls, not bothering with “excuse me” or “perdón” as they barge down the hall with carts, and once, coming up in the elevator with a huge cart while we waited to go down… not bothering to hold the elevator for us so it took off without us and the room cleaning staff did not even apologize or say anything at all. As far as other issues… We arrived on a Saturday late afternoon in January to ridiculously loud music at the pool, carrying up to our 8th floor room. Went to check out the pool, screaming women hanging around the bar chugging alcohol. Went to dinner, came back and the pool music was somewhat quieter. The partiers seemed to have left for the evening and we were able to enjoy some quiet time around the pool, enjoying the proximity to and sound of the waves. Next day, a Sunday, the music was even louder. I heard a staff member say to a woman as she walked through the door to the pool, “¿Qué tal, la Call Girl?” which is roughly, “How’s it going, Call Girl?” Not sure if she was an actual Call Girl (doubtful - at least I hope so!) or if that was just an icky compliment to a beautiful woman. Gave me the willies either way. When we asked about the loud music, since we were considering finding a higher class, quieter hotel, we were told it’s a pool party on weekends and were assured it would quiet down at 6:00 and be quieter the rest of the week. Spent the day walking around Condado, went to dinner, came back and music was still crazy loud even well after 6. Asked manager to turn music down and he did. Shortly thereafter, on the Sunday evening, a couple starts YELLING and fighting at the pool. I was getting worried about safety. She is yelling the F word every other word, and after ten minutes we call the manager to alert him. He says he will wait to talk to her, I tell him it has already been going on for ten minutes so he finally asks them to leave. We enjoyed the rest of our evening. We had a nice evening Monday at the pool. Monday in the middle of the night - so actually very early Tuesday morning - a woman starts screaming HELP ME on our hall. Men go out in the hall. I call the desk but no answer (!) so I call 911. It was weird, the woman claimed a man was in her room hitting her and would come out in the hall begging someone to come in the room with her. My husband was like, no, stay out in the hall, get out of the room. But she kept going back in the room trying to get someone to go in the room. So something was up, like they were trying to lure someone into their room. Police did arrive and took over the situation but I have not felt real safe here since. Now it’s Tuesday and we have been out all day. Returned hoping to spend a quiet evening by the pool overlooking the ocean. Music is pretty loud again, and yelling drunk woman has returned. I recognize the voice. My husband stops by the front desk to ask them to ask her to quiet down. She does not quiet down - I am not even sure if anyone came out to ask. I gave it a bit and asked her myself and, naturally, being a classless person in a classless place, she gets louder. I call the front desk and ask for the manager. I am put on hold for ten minutes before getting him. I tell him the situation and, again, nothing seems to be done. We head upstairs by 8pm, disgusted with this place, wishing we had chosen somewhere else to stay. Sadly we have two more nights here. The Condado Vanderbilt or Marriott will be on our list to try next year, and we will certainly never stay at Condado Ocean Club again. Their priorities are clear: maintain the party atmosphere at all costs, with no attention to safety or good manners.

Anniversary Stay
We recently stayed at the Condado Ocean Club to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly, accepting, and accommodating. I had pre-arranged for our room to be decorated before check-in, and they made sure everything was beautifully set up. Although the décor noted “30 years” instead of 10, it was still romantic and added a fun, lighthearted touch to our celebration. The club itself is a fantastic place, but what truly made our stay exceptional were Marc and Carlos. They went above and beyond to cater to our needs and made our trip truly memorable. Marc, your dedication and long hours do not go unnoticed—your passion and the relationships you build with customers are evident and deeply appreciated. To Marc, Carlos, and the entire Condado Ocean Club team, thank you for making our anniversary so special. We will definitely recommend this wonderful hotel to anyone visiting the San Juan/Condado area! The price was perfect. I would ask one thing , maybe explain room charges and Tarrifs better upon check out. I didn’t understand my final bill at all.

Great location, NO KIDS, sexy people, perfect view and impeccable service
What a beautiful location! This hotel is so close to the beach it’s literally in the surf. We had the oceanfront balcony room. Sitting on the deck looking over the surf, beach, and pool was a great way to spend hours. The mini bar is huge! It holds a drink cooler NOT a refrigerator. The bed was a plush soft cloud. It is pretty low to the ground though. That was my only negative and it’s definitely a personal preference. The hotel sits directly across from a parking area that offers kayak tours of the lagoon. Plenty of scooters are available just outside the door for you to ride into the town. If you would rather have a driver, the front desk is happy to help you with a ride. We saw them setting up for a wedding and I must say that bride will have the most spectacular photos from the spot they have for weddings. After staying here I will always be looking for an over 21 hotel. Not just because everyone was sexy. I think that’s a PR thing!!! Pack your cutest swim suits to come here! Also, the restaurant was very nice and we went several times.
