Not What I Expected for Price
We booked here to get away from racous party crowds. More into quieter beach experiences. They were doing construstruction on the building next door until late at night. It was noisy. They closed the main pool for a celebration night so all the drunks came to the pool near our room and we're loud until 3 AM. For privacy at the beach we would stay down near the au natural beach so my wife could sunbathe topless without offending other guests. Unfortunately we had a male stalker who moved his lounge down near us. No idea where is wife was all morning. He did this for three days. Forget the swim up bar. Same folks every day hogging it. Went on the sunset cruise, it was ok but the lady serving drinks was not very keen on service and not very friendly. Other than that the food was good and we received very good service. Yes, the water is clear and calm. But we have been to very nice beaches in Mexico so I don't get all the raving about how nice it is. Not to mention there are some places in Mexico where you can walk for miles without hardly coming across anyone. For the customs hassle, the long ride to the resort, and the experience we endured, not to mention the cost double what we pay in Mexico, we won't be going back.

Gorgeous, super clean, relaxing & a few improvements needed
I love an honest review, so here we go. We researched what felt like 1 million resorts before finally choosing Couples Negril. I do not regret it, we had an amazing vacation & you would too, but there are a few things, very few, keeping me from rebooking. First, the property is gorgeous, jungle like, and so well maintained. We laughed a few mornings thinking how clean do you need these sidewalks to be, because there were constantly staff cleaning everywhere you looked. We walked the beach & 7 mile, & I think this view and upkeep of the beach is the best. The red flags provided for when you needed pool or beach drink service was great, and the pool/ocean floats per chair was a really nice touch. The entertainment staff was engaging and very sweet. The beach service staff, and also the staff at the beachside restaurant were great, once you broke through. I agree with previous comments the staff at the buffet, restaurant & pool bar seem put out to serve you, and maybe that’s the case, life is hard and they’re not paid accordingly.?. The tip rules are confusing & staff across the board likely deserve way more than they receive. The rooms are completely clean and spacious with nice balconies. I will say what’s not making us rebook is the extremely dark and outdated restaurants. The property vibe overall is very chill and relaxing, but maybe one sports bar or lively option would be nice. The exceedingly dark and limited restaurants could be fixed with a minimum financial update. Overall, we found staff that we bonded with that ended up to be great. The grounds are gorgeous. We felt completely safe and cared for. We had a wonderful vacation, just not completely sure we would rebook.

Nice resort, but very low energy
This was my first experience with the Couples brand, and unfortunately the resort didn't meet our expectations, so we transferred to Couples Swept Away after one night. This resort felt like a retirement community and not just because of the ages of the guests, but because of the energy in the resort and the demeanors of the staff. Vibe: Everyone was incredibly quiet and unfriendly, and most people were quietly reading. I still rate this as Average, because that's what some people like on vacation, but it's not for us. I see many people call this resort "lively" and this is the opposite of "lively", but is quiet and relaxing. Food and service: were sub-par - staff appeared to be inconvenienced by us and there were flies everywhere at the breakfast buffet. For comparison, when we switched to Swept Away, there were almost no flies or bugs near the food. Grounds: Beach was beautiful, but nothing compared to Swept Away. Pool was nice, but the jacuzzis closed early so as not to bother guests at the open-air and very casual restaurant. Management: Very accommodating when we asked to switch to Couples Swept Away. Rooms: We stayed in the "party room", which was overlooking the beach and was massive. The room was a bit dated and the view was of the watersports equipment.

Lovely and relaxing resort
We spend a quiet, relaxing anniversary week with Couples Negril. The highlights of our stay: 1. The beach. Negril is one of the most beautiful beaches we’ve ever seen. Couples also has floats you can take into the designated swimming area, which was a nice touch. Beach vendors and musicians are abundant, but not excessively persistent. There is plenty of natural shade under the trees. 2. The people. While not overbearing, all Service teams were nice, polite, accommodating and caring. Other guests were also very nice. We met people from all over. The beach party was delightful. No one tried to sell us any time shares. 3. The spa services. Couples massage and facials were very relaxing. 4. The cat cruise was a ton of fun! Amazing cliffs, caves and beautiful water to enjoy. 5. Food and drinks. All the restaurants served great selections, and they showed commitment to food safety with constant cleaning and temperature monitoring. 6. The grounds were clean and well maintained. Resort cats are spayed with tipped ears and are in good physical shape. 7. Entertainment. Beautiful voices and nice resident band. We did not partake in many resort activities. The resort offers a day trip to Swept Away, which we enjoyed. This visit, we did not take advantage of water sports. The transfer vans are air conditioned and have WiFi. It’s a 1.5 hour coastal drive from MoBay to Negril. What can use improvement: the property is pretty dated. They do a nice job maintaining it, but if you’re into crisp modern construction and decor, this property is not it. The check in is in the piano bar which is very dated. Wish that was not our first impression, it gets better from there. They also don’t give you an option on quiet vs entertainment area, please ask as the entertainment will keep a weary traveler up till 10 pm. We ended up upgrading to a suite. Overall a lovely experience, worth the additional drive to Negril.

Disappointed will not recommend
We are staying in an “oceanfront”suite. We have been here for 4 days. We have not had any hot water now we have no water at all to shower. We have stayed at other couples resorts. This is a huge disappointment. The resorts always appear worn however this one seems neglected. Our concerns have gone unaddressed and we were also told by staff that “Jamaicans don’t need hot water to shower that it is an American thing.” They also advertised 24 hour food service which also is untrue. We arrived hours late due to airline/weather delays and were rushed through check in. We were then told we had to hurry we could only get food in the buffet until 930. This is our third visit and will be our last to a Couples Resort . I am very disappointed.
