Great for young children - That's about it unless you want up early and asleep early.

Returned Jan 14th from a family vacation. This is a young children/family resort. If you're a couple without young kids, I do not recommend this resort unless that is what you are looking for. If your youngest child is 8 or 9, and you have older kids, I don't recommend this resort. With that said, for adults traveling with young kids, this resort isn't too bad. Large buffet for easy feeding, mellow pools for kids, what looked like kid friendly activities, clean rooms, and beach is mellow. Resort is dead by 10pm, so you won't feel bad going to bed early and getting up early. What evening events we saw, seemed decent. Gym was smaller but had adequate options for a work out. What we didn't like is the resort is understaffed. They are aware of this, but I'm assuming are trying to get to a less crowded time of the year when it makes sense to have less people working. This mainly affected the ala carte dining. Plan on 2-2.5 hours to dine and there are no reservation systems in place for 3 of the 4 restaurants. The adult-only Galerie requires a same day reservation with concierge at 9am. The other three restaurants can be a long wait if you don't plan accordingly. We solved by arriving at 5pm to get a seat when restaurants opened at 5:30pm. That's a very early dining time, but by the time the food starts arriving it will be closer to 6:30pm. There is a charge for room service of $10 per delivery. We didn't use this service, but others we chatted with said that it takes 1-1.5 hours for delivery and the food is cold. I believe this is also due to being understaffed. Tennis courts closed, basketball closed. Galerie food was fun and different. We didn't like all of it, but some items were good. Rodeo steak house had the best food of ala carte. Also has a mechanical bull if you want to try it out. They do allow kids on at certain times. Mexican restaurant was mediocre. Thought the steak taco appetizer was the best item. Italian restaurant has medium fare. Pizza was a mound of cheese on a tasteless flat crust. Other items were okay. Buffet was only choice for breakfast and had a wide range of food options including vegetarian and childrens food. Some lunches were good others so-so. Dinner was either so-so or decent. Each day varies. Lunch bar by pool was mainly fish tacos or burger/hot dogs. My kids liked the fish tacos, chips/guacamole. Drinks were plenty at all the bars, no top shelf liquor, but the bar tenders weren't stingy and you can get mixed drinks brought to you in buffet. There is a lounge for club members. It was empty with no one serving on the few times we stuck are head in. The alcohol choices were a bit better in there, but with no one to serve, not sure if you want to go help yourself. Bars- Always best to specify what alcohol you want as a base. Lobby bar seemed decent. They serve caffeinated coffees as well. Knight Bar - pool tables, Valentin was a great bar tender, dark wood decor, poker tables, sports TV's on if you want. Pool bar didn't have swim up, but bar tenders were working hard. Night Club- Didn't use as it was empty. Amber lounge - Club member only was empty but booze was mid-shelf stuff. The beach area of the resort was small and I wouldn't say it was Caribbean blue. More a Riviera light green with a muddy feeling bottom. I still went in and enjoyed myself, but don't expect white sandy bottom with blue clear water. Regarding pool and beach chaises, best to mark them early in the morning. They fill up fast. Common courtesy is to remove your towels/belongings if you aren't returning or if you plan on being out later in the day and not in the first 1/2 of day. So with the above review, I'd say if you have young kids it was probably a 7 out of 10. If not, maybe a 6. Miguel Panigua at check in was good as was Valentin in Knight Bar. Our daily cleaning staff did a great job.

A family friendly stay with a spa just for mom!

We came to Sensira with three families. The staff was helpful and lovely. We’ve been to bigger resorts but for our young kids this was the perfect size for them to be a bit more independent without getting lost. The kids loved the trampoline room, mini golf, and the zip line. I had an AMAZING experience at the spa with Adali as my masseuse. An hour massage plus the hydrotherapy pools and saunas - I was gone for 2+ hrs and it was just what I needed. The staff person guided me through the wet and dry saunas, then the hydro pool, cold plunge and hot tub - I didn’t feel rushed and sitting in the hydro pool looking up through the circular skylight reminded me of a cenote. Would definitely stay again!

    A Family Resort

This is a great resort for families with kids as everything is contained in a horseshoe-shaped complex surrounding the pools. If you like buzz, this is a great choice. If you're looking for a quiet spot on the beach to soak up the sun and listen to the waves, you'll need to look elsewhere. The resort is designed with families in mind. There are adult packages available for an additional cost, but they feel like an afterthought. They give you access to adult only areas (several of which had kids in them anyway) that feel somewhat underwhelming. For example, we had a modest adult lounge and patio pretty much to ourselves all week, but there was no bartender to speak of. We were, however, very pleased with the butler service accessible via WhatsApp (special shoutout to Cristian). The food was resort standard, with the usual hit and miss buffet (although selections do change daily) and four decent ala carte restaurants. We found the restaurants somewhat loud, but the wait staff was professional and attentive as one would expect. The gourmet restaurant was very good and if you like it loud and rowdy, try the steakhouse. Things to know: Even with the resort at 50 percent capacity, we had to be out very early to get a Bali bed. There are no real grounds to speak of, just swimming pools with a few islands of shrubbery to break things up. The resort was clean, our room was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable.

    Amazing vacation

Wonderful experience at this resort and is probably one of the only resorts I would say that I would go back to as I prefer trying new places each time. Extremely clean, safe, modern and has excellent staff. Our room was the standard 2 queens and was very nice and they did an amazing job cleaning and stocking it daily. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I was hesitant after some negative reviews but I believe my experience was a 5 star because it wasn’t very busy. No matter what time of day I was able to find chairs at the beach or pool and most afternoons could even get a daybed at the beach. Everything was spotless and service was so quick. Majority of the staff were a pleasure to interact with and went above and beyond to make you happy. I loved the food, we ate a la carte every night without ever pre booking anything. The lunch on the beach was our favourite (amazing fish tacos). Buffet was good and also had good service. Our favourite was the rodeo for dinner. Coffee bar is the true highlight though. Great drinks and of course the ice cream. My 2 and 4 year old had the time of their lives and we used the baby club and kids club almost daily because they loved going so much. They had fun crafts and activities daily in kids club. Trampoline park was used multiple times a day and was a hit. The theatre was also great for my kids to pop in and out of. The kids pool was great for their ages. I also never found any of the pools freezing like previous reviews had complained. The nightly shows we only ever got to watch 20 mins of due to my kids needing to go to bed but they all seemed really great and I would have loved to have watched them all. One day there was a princess who came by the pool and sang Disney songs and my kids really liked watching that. I feel like there was always something going on. We had planned to do an excursion and didn’t end up because there was so much to do at the resort we didn’t want to leave. The beach had great sand and on some days minimal seaweed but they did always clean it up in the morning. One day was particularly bad and by mid to late afternoon the beach had a lot of it again but besides that one day it really wasn’t an issue. Overall amazing trip and I wish we had booked longer than a week and hopefully we will be back in a few years!
