Dreams resort is great and Erick is the MAN

Great service overall at dreams aventuras riviera maya - it is a smaller but very nice resort with a non crowded beach front and great restaurants. Erick at the Coco Cafe is our favourite! always friendly and the best espresso martini service you can find in Mexico!

Had a good time, but not 5 star.

Bring your expectations down to a 4 star. This isn’t a 5 star resort. Beach is a dream for kids. Easy walk to the town/marina. Pools are nice. Preferred pool access is a must, as it is a calmer vibe, has a working hot tub, and gives you an opportunity to escape the crowds. Chair access at both pools and beach was not an issue. Drinks are ok. The juices used taste very artificial so anything fruity is of poor quality. Beer/wine/bubbly is better. The pours are light - 1/2 oz of liquor used so you have to ask for stronger. Food overall was okay. Some great, most decent, some poor. Service ranged to amazing (portofino) and awful (el patio). Lunch tacos in the buffet were great. Beach food was ok. Breakfast was ok but lines for the omelette station were long. Evening lacked entertainment. The theatre, lobby, and nightclub have no ambiance. There’s really nowhere to go. Shows varied from poor to good, but the theatre is so loud. I wouldn’t come back based on lack of evening gathering spaces/live music. They have open space about seaside grill which would be amazing, but lights are off and it’s not used. Kids club water park was ok. We took our younger kids in to the water park, but the massive bucket dumping water every 5 minutes scared them. Plus it smelled of sewage around there. We dropped our older child off there a couple times for certain activities, but it seemed like the activities only lasted a couple minutes because both times he told me he played video games/watched a movie. They had a variety of activities throughout the day - bracelets, art - which our kids enjoyed. The bike tour is questionable - they don’t provide helmets. Staff overall helpful throughout the resort. Service at the pool varied, but most of the time it was available. If you can’t have fun here, that’s on you, but there’s better options. I do think a large amount of the reviews on TA are done from management (1 review only, 5/5 for this resort), which speaks volumes.

      It was okay vacation

It was a okay stay. The staff are great and friendly. The hotel is ran down and needs to be updated or taken care of better. In the rooms I was in, there is a mold mildew smell coming from them. You can hear everything through your walls. The check in for the preferred guest is kind of a joke. They don’t let you check in downstairs with everyone else but make you go to the 7th floor. We waited another 35 mins to check in after a day of flying for 7 hours and then another hour and half of driving to the place. Then we had another person in our party that had to stay at another hotel down the street from them. They wouldn’t at all even let come up the stairs to wait for us to check in unless they pay for a $100 day pass every time they wanted to come onto the property. I do get that but it was just for us to check in and then we were headed back to drop them off…… the food choices are pretty limited in the restaurants, but the food is good besides the nachos which they use a cheese soup base, so they’re pretty running and bland.

      Bike ride

Sebastian was great showing us the town and taking pictures of us. We got to explore the town on our own and watch dolphins. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the town as well as showing us the fish and cool spots around the town. All around we were very happy with our morning bike ride.
