Feb 05, 2025Wonderful stay as we watched the whales!
The food and exceptionally friendly staff at the resort were 2nd to none. Everyone we dealt with was amazing. We loved the buffet at breakfast and dinners at the amazing restaurants with such friendly and accommodating servers. The constant reply of "my pleasure" to our thank you was amazing. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend the resort, but will point out a couple negatives. One thing that I would say was a negative was the awful smell at the amphitheater and the water slide pools. The smell was hard to stomach and was a factor in us not going to more than one show or to the waterslide pool area more than once. I am not sure if is a sewer problem or comes from a lagoon area behind the hotel. We also were disappointed with the pushing of the Hyatt Membership Program. Right after we checked in and told that we could visit the Secrets restaurants and amenities for $150 per day, we were passed on to a gentleman that was to give us the rundown on the resort and amenities and to take us to our room. He was amazing and very friendly. He explained that because we were Dreams guests we could visit the more exceptional Secrets restaurants for only $100 for our entire stay if we would like to go to a 90 minute no pressure no expectation presentation. Of course we thought sure, why not! And of course the pressure was much more than we would have liked. The presenters were friendly but not willing to take no thank you for an answer. After each no thank you another sales person was brought in to offer a better option, and give reasons as to why we should join. It was much more of a pressured sales pitch than we would have wanted, but I guess we have learned that the "discount" card or the presented prize comes with some discomfort. Live and learn! I understand that is their job and that is how things work, but it seemed to be top priority to get guests to purchase memberships as we were asked at least 2 more times during our stay as well as when we checked out. We had also talked to other guests who had the same experience. Just want potential guests to be aware that this is common practice here and to expect it. Besides this we had an fantastic stay. The highlight was the kayak tour where we were able to see whales up close as they surfaces about 200 yards away from us and were easy to spot from the resort many times daily during our stay.

This newer resort is a very nice, large property with many pools and restaurants to choose from. Rooms are comfortable. Small Beach area is visually good, whale watching in January and February is possible from the beach. Staff is friendly.

Very Nice Resort
Newer resort with facilities still in very good shape. We stayed on Dreams side, but with preferred club upgrade. This was important as it gave us access to Portofino and Himitsu restaurants on the Adult-only side in Secrets. Staff were very friendly, and food was very good overall. Beach is a bit rough on the feet when the tide is out in the afternoon - bring water shoes to enter the surf. Whale watching, from the beach, was a highlight!

Fun for the whole family!
Excellent service, good food, and so many great activities and amenities for all ages. (Our group spanned three generations.) My daughter loved the water park. Daniel at El Patio is an absolute gem! And we saw SO many whales, so if you're looking for a great whale-watching spot in season, this is it! Preferred Club is worth the little bit of extra money.

Went for a wedding and now going back for an actual vacation….It was that good.
From the moment my car dropped me off and I was greeted with a glass of champagne, I was smitten. The professional staff, outstanding room perfectly decorated and appointed with every conceivable convenience and even a jacuzzi on my balcony. I’m definitely going back.
