Beautiful family-friendly resort
Beautiful location and hospitable staff! I’d say this resort is a 4.5, but those two factors bump it up to 5. I had a very hard time choosing an AI for my family (parents, 14 yo, 6 yo). Even though this property is smaller than the mega resorts (and thus has appropriately scaled options for food and activities), we all agreed it was the right choice. We chose a swim-out room, which means (I believe) you have to be in the preferred club. It was more expensive, but for my pool-loving children, it was great. The pool and patio area were very comfy and protected by a hedge. We shared the pool with two other rooms. Our room had two real beds (rather than a pull-out sofa) which were comfortable. The room (middle of the resort) felt a little old and had some quirks, but it was very clean and visited twice daily by housekeeping. We also appreciated our concierge, Gustavo, who helped with all our needs. The pools and grounds are beautiful and well maintained, and there is even a hot tub. But of course the star of the show is the beach! The sand is so soft and the water is gorgeous. Three of our four days it was as clear as a pool, and the last day it was a bit wavy but still green flag (safe to swim) and lovely. If you want to swim in the sea, this is your spot. Some reviews complain about the scarcity of loungers. I agree that some people abuse the towel-on-chair approach. But even on a busy week in March, we were always able to find a place to sit. If we wanted a chair for all four of us it would have been difficult, but the kids were always swimming or playing so we would grab 2-3 if necessary. You have to be a little bit patient and flexible. Sometimes the staff would notice us looking for chairs and help us out. Speaking of staff, I have to rave about the warmth and professionalism of the people working at Dreams. With a few rare exceptions, they greeted us with a smiling ¡hóla! and they accommodated—or anticipated— our every need. The Hyatt app was also very helpful when we needed to ask for maintenance, room service, or housekeeping requests. Overall I would say that if the aesthetic and location of this resort looks appealing to you, you’ll probably enjoy your stay!

An excellent stay at an excellent resort
Our group of 2 families (4 adults and 3 youth) had a wonderful stay here for 9 days in mid-March. I have a lot of positive things to say about this resort, beginning with the Entertainment Staff. A big reason why we enjoyed this resort was Jerry. Jerry is an absolute delight and one of the highlights of our stay. He involved my 12- and 15-year-old boys in the games and activities throughout our entire stay. Always friendly and welcoming, smiling, dancing and entertaining! He even got my 15-year-old son to dance! In addition to Jerry, other entertainers - Champion, Chicken Boy, El Baby added to the fun. Champion’s auction at the beach was another highlight! The staff all around was great – from housekeeping to pool/lobby bar, dining and towel staff. A shoutout to Marcelo at the pool bar for his positive and fun energy! Room was one of the nicest we have had at a resort, spacious and clean. Towel service was also excellent. No need for towel cards and the towels were always fresh and clean. A La Carte restaurants were excellent – no reservations was a huge bonus, and we never waited more than a few minutes for a table. Coco Café was great to have on resort – my husband and I went here for our morning coffees every day. Barefoot Grille at the beach was also great – pizzas were excellent for a midday snack. The shows were entertaining – especially the Water and Circus shows. Beach is beautiful – turquoise water and white sand. While not a challenge to get chairs at the beach, lack of shade was a bit of an issue. One of my only complaints is that those who pay for Preferred Club get better access to shade. My only other complaint was the lack of activity post-11pm. And that’s saying something for someone who normally goes to sleep at 10pm! Some musical entertainment until midnight would be a nice addition. And while there is a sports bar and disco across from the a la carte restaurants, these were not well-publicized and therefore nobody seemed to go to them. The same holds true for the teen club (which my kids used but they were the only ones there). All in all, an excellent stay at an excellent resort, thanks to Jerry and the rest of the entertainment staff.

Stunning resort! Ignore bad reviews
Ignore all the bad reviews this place is stunning! The staff can’t do enough for you and the preferred is definitely worth the upgrade! Our butler Edwin was amazing he couldn’t do enough for us! He was a superstar to help me sort out my partners 40th while here! The food and restaurants were beautiful! The beach is unreal - carribean sea! We travelled with two young children and the staff were sooo accommodating! And more than enough shade for them! Only bad point if your travelling from UK. There are a lot of Canadians and unfortunately we experienced two lots of rude/entitled groups from Toronto! One who took the mickey out of our children crying! And the second group stole our children’s umbrella shade while we were at lunch and when asked nicely we got told ‘too bad’! (Albeit her husband asking us for corona on the morning! Ha!) We did meet some really nice however they are also very rude to staff not needed! But back to positives this hotel is amazing and would definitely return!
