New resort with kinks to work out, but overall a good experience
The resort was at very low capacity, which some people like. But because of this, some of the emenities weren’t available. We went with our two kids, they got bored just because there was really not that many people there. The swim up bar wasn’t open, and they didn’t play music at the pool. The vibe was just a lot more mellow than we prefer. Our butler, Yesenia was really helpful. She answered all our questions and arranged all our activities. I have nothing but good things to say about her and the staff there.

Poorly staffed, not family friendly
If you are expecting a resort that’s good for a family vacation, do not come here. I am part of the vacation club with this brand, so I know how wonderful a Dreams resort can be. But let’s jump in: 1. when we got there the crib I requested in advance was not in the room and my air conditioning wasn’t working. Resort was quick to send folks to fix it, but didn’t offer to move my room; it took 2-3 hours, the whole time my 18-month old couldn’t nap (kept falling asleep and being woken up by the noise). I was basically trapped for hours taking away my first day of vacation. 2. we went to dinner at Portifino. After 2 hours and no main course I left, without dinner, to put my kid to sleep. Air conditioning was not working when I returned to the room 3. no hot water in the shower, couldn’t bathe my kid. They fixed it the next day. 4. giant shower with the tiniest anti skid mat and a very slippery floor. I almost fell several times and my kid did fall on the last day. 5. toilet paper holder broke and fell to the floor. This is all just the first night 6. The food was meh. Desserts were very good. 7. there are no towels in the child area. To get towels you need to go over two steep stair bridges 8. no lifeguard at the the shallow pool (and it’s not labeled as being the shallow the shallow pool, which would have been helpful 9. They were doing construction the entire time we were there, outside of our room. There were tiny scraps of metal from the drilling everywhere! 10. The closet door wouldn’t close all the way, so the light wouldn’t turn off 11. Although the pool bar was supposedly open, never saw a bartender there. Waited for 20 mins for water as then had to go to a different bar 12. No bartender at the lobby bar: asked someone, told bartender is on the way. No one came. Another customer went behind the bar and made the drinks and no one showed up still. 13. Paid for a spa treatment. Got a hydro treatment and the water was FREEZING. Really hard to relax even you’re so cold. Nice lady employee told me they had just changed the water. It was a pre booked appointment, I don’t understand the timing… 14. The buffet closes at 4:30 (opens back at7) and the restaurants open at 6:30pm. If you have kids, this is not timing that works well. 15. Lots of places with wiring sticking out of the ground (I assume where lights will go?). Honestly, I can go on, but you get the gist. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY and honestly, even if I didn’t have kids I wouldn’t recommend it. Hopefully this isn’t the future of the brand now that they’ve merged with Hyatt. I expect better.

Can’t wait to go back!
As for the resort, Dreams resort golf and spa….This has to be the best all inclusive in Mazatlan! Brand new facilities, great food, amazing service and a fantastic room. Great beds and pillows! We had a swim out room which the kids loved. There is lots to do for kids. Lazy River, water slides, and splash park. The service at the pool was excellent. We had Josue and Hector throughout the week and they were a blast! At night there is various entertainment. Five restaurants to choose from plus the buffet at night. Portofino (Italian) was by far our favourite! Would highly recommend to friends and family…we plan to be back! Thank you for the great experience Dreams!

Best private birthday dinner ever!
Our travel group of 12 enjoyed an amazing 7 course meal in a private room at the Portofino restaurant at Dreams Estrella Del Mar. Served by Arturo and Genaro, we experienced Michelin star level cuisine that was only exceeded by the wonderful presentation, sensory experience, and visual delight that was further enhanced by the varietal wine selection. Never had any of us tasted appetizers, soups, surf and turf, followed by a dessert that can only be described as a work of art. We were blown away by every element of the meal, right down to the cutlery, glasswear and serving plates. If you haven’t experienced a private meal at this resort, I cannot recommend highly enough!

Relaxing Getaway with Exceptional Service and Stunning Views
My husband and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Dreams Estrella Del Mar, and while there were a few minor challenges, my overall experience was wonderful. Located a bit off the beaten path, this resort offers a peaceful, private retreat that is just a short 10-minute ride from the airport. While getting into town can require a bit more planning the resort offers a serene escape, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. Accommodations: The rooms at Dreams Estrella Del Mar are spacious and bright, offering a good amount of privacy. While there are a few signs of rushed construction such as missing tiles, loose wires or some chipped flooring—the overall ambiance is relaxing and comfortable. The swim-out rooms at this resort were not the best option in my opinion as building 3 and 4 you look right into the water slides or splash park and they are tiny, do not connect to a main pool and only have a bistro set no loungers or umbrellas, but if you're looking for peace and quiet, the adults-only building offers a more tranquil experience. Just keep in mind that to secure a room in that building, you’ll need to book the Preferred Premium package. Food & Drinks: The food here is a standout! Every meal we had was delicious, and the resort definitely excels in the all-inclusive dining experience. As part of the Preferred Club, we enjoyed top-shelf drinks that were perfectly balanced—not too weak or overpowering. Whether you’re lounging by the pool or having a more formal dinner, you’re in for a treat when it comes to dining. Pool & Beach: The pool area is relaxing and never crowded, with attentive staff ensuring quick service. The beach, while stunning, isn’t swimmable due to riptides and jelly fish warnings, but it’s perfect for peaceful walks. We were lucky enough to spot dolphins and whales off the coast, making for some truly unforgettable moments. Activities & Entertainment: While the entertainment options are more laid-back, they offer a variety of kid-friendly activities and the occasional adult options, like volleyball and water aerobics. The turtle sanctuary next door is a lovely addition—though the communication barrier with the staff there was a small challenge, it was worth the effort to experience the turtle releases. Service: The service at this resort truly shines. The staff is incredibly attentive and went out of their way to accommodate us, even with the language barrier. Despite many staff members not speaking fluent English, we had no trouble communicating thanks to Google Translate. The low occupancy made for an exceptional guest-to-staff ratio, and we were treated like VIPs the entire time. One of the standout members of the team was Hector, a gentleman working at the pool. He was absolutely stellar and truly made our vacation unforgettable. Without a doubt, had we not interacted with him daily during our stay, it wouldn't have been nearly as memorable. Hector is exceptional at his job, and it's clear that he genuinely loves what he does. I have no doubt that he will quickly move up the ranks, and he should be in a leadership position, whether overseeing the pool area or holding a higher role at the resort. His passion for service and connection makes him the perfect example of excellent customer care. He’s the kind of staff member who should be teaching others what outstanding customer service is all about. Overall Experience: Dreams Estrella Del Mar is still evolving as a resort, with some areas under construction and a few maintenance updates needed. However, the quality of food, impeccable service, and the stunning natural surroundings more than made up for any minor inconveniences. If you’re looking for a relaxing, quieter getaway where you can unwind and enjoy great food and service, this resort is definitely worth considering. Perfect for families, those seeking a tranquil vacation, or anyone who enjoys a slower pace of life and the absolute best sunsets you can imagine!
