  Blowing Hot & Cold

  This review is mostly good, one bad issue and a few minor ones. On the whole a very good week. The room was great with a lovely view. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the World Café & Oisha were excellent. There are a few areas that could use a little attention: on the third day we had to ask for the tea bags to be topped up; we asked at Preferred reception to take up the offer of a price reduction for a welcome massage but never heard back about it; the mini bar top-up was a bit sketchy. On the poor side, we had to learn a lot about temperature control. On the first day we could not get warm so complained. On the second day we were too hot so complained again. We were offered another room but resolved the situation by simply turning the air-con off after which everything was fine. See below for more details and what happened when the manager got involved. The maintenance team came and explained that they had switched the air supply to the whole block we were staying in from cold to warm. Apparently this is quite common in hotels but normally the fan will stop when the room has reached the set temperature. Not here – the fan just kept going. The controls offer all sorts of options with sun & snowflake symbols, temp setting etc none of which do anything. Fan speed was the only thing that worked with a random letter A appearing which we took to mean Automatic. But then the manager, Angel, got involved as he had heard we had a problem. He insisted that he had spoken to the supplier’s engineer and that the system would heat and cool the room according to the set temperature. Nothing I said made any difference so I offered him a challenge. He would set the controls and we would go out for an hour and then we would re-check the room temp which was then 22deg. He set the target temp to 17 and was adamant that the room would be cold. When we returned the room was 23deg. He agreed that this was not right and would we let reception know if we went out the following day so it could be further investigated. We did this but when we saw him later that day nothing had been done. We discovered when we asked for a late check-out that this was not possible as the room was required for other guests – so air-con was not about to be fixed. On a good note, we did finally get a late check-out.

  Excellent stay

  Everything about this hotel is excellent. We had a club suite which was spacious and overlooked the sea. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. We had the option of alternative pillows if the ones already on the bed weren't adequate. The stand out for this hotel is it's wonderful location. However, there isn't anything around it at all, no quaint little village to wonder to for instance. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to funchal, but if this is fully booked then the local bus stop is across from the hotel entrance. There is no bus stop sign, you just wait near the carpark and stick your arm out to flag down the bus. The cost of a ticket one way is 2 eruos 60. The journey takes about 90 minutes, but you do get a good tour. The food was varied and to suit all tastes. The all inclusive drinks were of a good standard including some well known brands. The staff are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. They are courteous and attentive and it is highly important to them you are having the best experience at the hotel. The hotel was very quiet, but I suspect this was the time of year. This suited us as in our view there is nothing worse than lots of noise when all you want to do is relax in peaceful surroundings.

  A dream resort set in a sea and countryside location

  Theresa and I went for a one week winter break we enjoyed every moment enjoying well delivered all inclusive resort Excellent food many choices of restaurants for evening,and pool and marina lunches. Very good coffee room with cakes and snack Staff all of them first rate and friendly and the activity staff real fun and interesting Visit here now a great value refurbished resort , go again tomorrow if I could.   Amazing vacation at this resort

  We discovered this resort from the Hyatt website and came here to celebrate our anniversary. It has been a great experience. The place is like a little village on its own at the north end of the Madeira island. The ocean is beautiful and the hotel is beautiful. This stay has far exceed my expectations that I wanted to go back the following week! I will definitely go back there again this year. We have the all inclusive package and there were many restaurants you can try and eat at. Since I enjoy trying food at restaurants, staying here is a lot of fun doing that and trying different Portuguese wines. The hotel upgraded me to an amazing oceanfront suite that feels like an apartment recognizing my Hyatt global status. They emailed me before the trip to arrange things for me and sent a driver to pick us up from the airport. Other hotels do email you but this is one of the rare times I felt the person actually cared to arrange things and answer your questions. Generally all staff I encountered here are extremely friendly, competent, helpful and pleasant. I stay in many hotels all over the world, and this Dreams has trained their staff really well or hired the right people to join the hotel. The Guest Experience Manager Angel was very helpful. The World Cafe restaurant staff Eduardo is the most pleasant and friendly wait staff you will find anywhere. The hotel also had complimentary personal training sessions, and the trainer we had Juan Carlos was also great in pushing you to get a good work out! Some reviews mentioned that because the hotel is only a couple of months old, that not everything is open. It is true. The most notable is the spa is not open yet but there are so plenty of facilities that are open and well run for us to enjoy every moment of our 3-day stay. I would highly recommend this resort! The hotel is also next to one of the most beautiful hikes I have done. The scenic views on the path are dramatic and spectacular.

  WOW -Such a beautiful Resort

  From the moment we entered this resort it felt like pure luxury. We had a private check in, where they give you a refresh cloth that totally rejuvenates your skin after the plane journey. We were then taken by buggy around the resort and then taken to our room. We payed for the preferred club which gave you access to the lounge where your drinks were all branded. Thank you Miguel for ordering us extra Grey Goose for our stay -outstanding 👏. The suites and all spotless with luxury toiletries along with dressing gown and slippers. This resort is such a beautiful scenic place. The food is the highest quality that I have experienced on an AL. We travel a lot and this place is my favourite. The staff have been trained to such a high standard and cannot do enough to make your stay perfect. I will be returning without a doubt 😀
