Loved our stay at Dreams Onyx
Perfect week at Dreams Onyx! Staff were so helpful and very friendly. Francisco went out of his way to make sure all our needs were met. And Jenny found us wherever we were around the pool with a smile, cocktails and water. The resort is huge, so much to do. Especially enjoyed the sports bar, nightly shows were great, lazy river and water slides, and the casino at Breathless. Rooms were clean, well stocked, and beds very comfortable. Restaurants were all very good with great service.

Memorable vacation
We stayed at Dreams onyx for 6 days and enjoyed it. This was a perfect selection and we had a wonderful time. Food was amazing and the stay was excellent. Have activities inside and outside the resort. Beach was easily accessible and was great. I recommend this place .

a big surprise
The property is well maintained. The service was excellent. The beach was great with waves. The room was huge ,quiet at night The buffet had many choices. The Americano coffees were fantastic. Towels and chairs were plentiful with no hassle getting them I would go back

Exceeded expectations.
What a pleasant surprise it was to arrive at Dreams Onyx resort. The grounds are spectacular and while the resort caters to families, the preferred club option was fantastic for adult only vacationers. The beach was so well maintained and was fantastic to swim in and you could walk for many kilometres safely. All resort staff members went above and beyond to make our experience memorable. Nelis was our server by the pool and she was so fun and friendly and she went above and beyond to make us interesting cocktails. Aris our Butler went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. He was extremely helpful arranging for dinners at both our resort and Breathless and he personally escorted us each night to our restaurant of choice ensuring we were seated in the restaurant. I highly recommend the preferred club for adult travellers and the resort and our experience exceeded expectations. I will be back.

Not the best, not the worst
Stayed at the Onyx for 11 nights with my girlfriend in one of the swim-up rooms. Firstly, this is a big hotel, with lots of rooms and lot of people. If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday, this is not the place to come. There is constant noise especially at the weekends when the hotel seems to get busier and busier. Our room was in building 5, room 5150. The room is a nice size with plenty of room, however the swim-up pool is very open to anybody walking by and a couple of times we had random people jumping in the pool. Not cool. I would’ve moved room but my partner didn’t want the hassle. My advice, ask to be situated in one of the rooms that face the interior of the hotel. Room 5150 is very noisy as it is closest to the main entertainment area so you get everybody walking past your door. Thankfully the noise seems to abate at about 23:30. The selection of restaurants is good and the main buffet is ok. Not brilliant, but reasonable. Breakfast time is absolutely chaotic, with too many people in one area. Also this hotel is family friendly so is full of kids, hence the constant racket. Our mistake as a couple was booking here as kids rule the roost. The sister hotel of the Onyx, the Breathless Spa and Resort, is situated right next door and is adult only. As a guest of the Onyx you can use all the facilities at Breathless. This was a saving grace as we could escape the kids everyday and evening. In terms of staff, it was a very mixed bag. The majority are very surly, but there are some diamonds in the rough who make the effort to speak to you and even just say hello. In hindsight, as a couple without kids, we wish we would’ve booked the Breathless as it’s much more relaxing. At both hotels, the majority of the guests are American, with only a few English and other nationalities. This is both a plus and a negative. Oh and on checking in, one of the first things that happened was we were force fed a sales pitch to upgrade to a Preferred club room. The price started off at $800 for 11 nights and very quickly went down to $560 by us just saying thanks but no thanks. It was slightly distasteful after spending £5k on a holiday for someone then to recommend we spend another $800. The only other gripe is the constant phone calls everyday from reception asking us to complete a customer survey. It never stopped. Also the hotel constantly badgered us to clean the room everyday even though we were happy for it to be done every other day. A do not disturb sign means nothing in this hotel. Overall, a bit of a hit and a miss. Great hotel if you have kids and like sharing your space and holiday with loads of people, but not great if you like privacy and relaxing. Score 6/10.
