El Cid, Moro, Mazatlan
This is our third visit to El Moro. The staff are very friendly. We have elite club this year, which is worth the upgrade. In the elite lounge, Alejandra is amazing. She is engaging and always ready to assist with our requests and needs. The La Concha restaurant has good food and if the buffet gets monotonous, we order off the menu. The poolside menu also has a delicious chicken wrap. We eat outside for breakfast with Gabriella, Martin and Karen serving us each day. They anticipate our requests, orange juice, coffee, cinnamon rolls, bacon and bananas, and have it on our table minutes after we sit down. This is a safe environment for families. We had our daughter and her 4 small children. The 8 and 9 year old made friends with other children and spent a lot of time playing in the pool. They also enjoyed LA Pergola restaurant with a buffet and show each night. The favorite was kid's night with Disney characters performing. We like the variety of pools and locations to eat. We will definitely return with our family again!

Pool service
Francisco Renteria Vallejo at the bar by the Moro pool is a fantastic waiter. He is quick, courteous and very pleasant. We have been coming to the El CID for years and he is our favorite waiter. We love coming to Mazatlan. The people are very friendly and helpful. The beach is clean and pleasant to walk on. The ocean is good for swimming and wake boarding.

Pool Chair Hogs
I’m a long time El Cid owner, Millionaire status and my husband and I stay about 6-8 weeks a year, mostly at Marina El Cid in Mazatlan but we’re at El Moro now. We also spend time in Puerto Morelos every other year. We’re mostly happy with our membership although we feel that El Cid could do more to reward owners for their loyalty, such as room upgrades that seem to be a thing of the past because they get sold off to Expedia and Costco ect guests. My main complaint is the lack of enforcement of saving pool chairs. Every day, at every El Cid resort, people ignore the rules and put out their towels in the early morning to save their spot and disappear for hours. I’ve seen people walk around the pools looking for a spot to sit and all of the chairs have been saved. It’s so selfish of the guests who do this and El Cid needs to do something to enforce the rules! I watch the bracelet colors and the chair hogs aren’t owners! Please monitor the pools.

Fantastic time at El CID El Moro
I must say all the employees at El Cid Moro are the best. Always going out of their way to make you comfortable and meeting your needs with a heartfelt smile. MARCOS at La Concha Restaurant was the best he was always on top of our requests , had our drinks ready as soon as we sat down with a big smile on his face and very efficient. The only issues with our stay was our rooms had no garbage containers, no paper towels, no dish soap, no complementary coffee as the other guest had in their rooms. And the worst part was not having hot water to take showers that was very inconsistent. We found the best time to take a shower was early in the morning if you wanted to take a hot shower, otherwise the water was very lukewarm and cold. but despite these issues, we still had a fantastic time. We heard that there was going to be updating in all the rooms at the El Moro which I think is well needed.

If you are a “Foodie” this resort is not for you
My first ever experience at all inclusive …… never again! The restaurants at this hotel are poor. Food quality not good at all. Lots of staff to make things work, lots of Supervisors around, what do they do? The buffet needs total review of holding times, temperatures etc. Overloaded and full of food, pans sit for too long before being replaced. I have been in the restaurant business for nearly 50 years and it concerns me that food waste must be high, but not for the right reasons. Staff productivity must be low and Supervision is poor. The hotel front desk staff were excellent, reactive and aware. The housekeeping staff were friendly and efficient. Room was good but in need of renovations. Shuttle service excellent. Bottom line is the poor food will keep me from coming back.
