Great but needs improvements
Just had my 2nd visit to El Dorado Royale and this time stayed in a private pool casita. I last visited in 2015 when it was run by Karisma and I do see the hotel seems to have lost its charm. The food in 2015 was so much better and I feel Karisma did run the resort much better I know the family / Lomas are trying but it’s just not quite there yet. It needs a little upgrade in the rooms you can see that they are a little worn I stayed in Casitas 31 and they cost the most they really need to spend the money on an upgrade we had faulty lights and it’s very dark in the rooms. The Bellini bar needs to turn on the ac it’s extremely hot inside this bar and uncomfortable to enjoy drinks please fix this. The golf carts don’t seem to run during the day due to this it was difficult to get to lunch at most places they are 100s at dinner but lunch more or less non existent. The staff are absolutely amazing this is what made me want to come back I did feel some staff could of been having a bad day as the service at night in some restaurants like the Mexican the waiter was so moody and ruined our dinner. But I understand people have a bad day. This is where Karisma did better as that wouldn’t have ever happened. The food isn’t really 5 star anymore maybe 3 star much more room for improvement to get back to how it was as the resort is charging the same price as brand new hotels in the area example Secrets but not delivering the wow factor. Again some restaurants could do with an upgrade also. I did enjoy myself even though I booked thinking it would be like my last trip hopefully my next vacation here things improve. Santa Fe for breakfast is wonderful and if you are lucky to sit in the area that has Ladi or Lady! Not sure how to spell her name she is absolutely amazing. Knew what I wanted for breakfast each day made us cappuccino with cinnamon and the smile every morning from her was a great start to our day! She truly is a wonderful employee! Juan at the pool bar 31 castias! The absolute best bar man on earth! Made us the best drinks and told us about his life where he lives he built a relationship with the guests and that made it just that extra special he was my favorite bar person the whole visit. He would make the best shots for the entire pool and we had the best days! Norma what an absolute delight! I miss her so much! She always got us lunch at 31 area and had the biggest smile and again told us about her favorite foods, what she does on her days off and built a relationship with us I loved her stories! She has a note pad with the cocktails recipes in and she will make you drinks extra special Norma is a true gem to Lomas and I hope they know how lucky they are having her working for you! I cannot wait to see her again in May 2026. The pools were great, the beach was right at the front door of the Castias and it was such a beautiful and romantic place! I’m so looking forward to coming back next year and I hope maybe the resort fixes the small issues which made me fall in love with El Dorado in 2015. Ladi, Norma and Juan thank you for making my vacation one to remember I will see you all soon! Kyle

Do not get married here.
Worst customer service ever. This is in no way a 5 star resort. I had a 37 person wedding & there was zero accommodation on our behalf. We were told they would give us dinner tables for 8 & 10 people, then to only be told absolutely not possible when we showed up for said dinner. We tried to explain two different concierges confirmed it would be possible- be warned it absolutely is not. So do not plan to have dinners with more than 6 people. On our last day, after the wedding, we stayed for our honeymoon, there was construction happening right beside our room/private pool area. Loud construction from 9-5. Couldn’t use the private area, couldn’t take a nap in our room, couldn’t relax on the last day of our wedding/honeymoon in the Casitas which are far pricier than other accommodations on the resort. When we asked about it & explained we were unable to use our private (& more expensive) pool area they did not care at all. They just kept saying that their construction was on permitted time. I’m still flabbergasted at their lack of caring at all. Honestly, as a bride bringing in thousands of $$$ I was shocked at the way we were treated from multiple people on property. The bartenders, servers, house cleaners, all those working to run the resort were fabulous! I have nothing bad to say about them, they were what saved the stay in my opinion. I’m sure you’ve read the beach here is not a pretty one- that is true, 100%. Between the lack of beach & poor treatment from more than one manager, this is not a cheap place to stay. Go else where. Find a true 5 star resort. The property is large & the shuttles to take you to & fro are almost non existence.

El Dorado Casitas Presidential Swim Up
First time visiting Casitas and enjoyed being in area 31. Loved having a swim out here. Alfredo was our day Butler and he was fantastic! Our PM butler was as well a great addition ! The grounds, the food and the resort was lovely and we enjoyed our week there very much. The cons were the bartenders never checked guests for room numbers and there was two couples who were from Royale side coming to the pool and taking seats away; the beach butler never really helped us in anyway he was to engaged in a guest who had the big room on the end of our Casitas area; we would prefer the Mexican Fiesta to be outside like Maroma ( inside we found way to crowded , too loud, not as much options and very smoky); lastly we would of appreciated when we checked in that we would have been escorted to our room- not just told where to go . We for sure will be back as the few cons didn’t deter us from enjoying our stay!

Another fabulous trip to the casitas
Our recent trip to the Casitas was great! We have stayed multiple times and the experience did not disappoint. We stayed at a swim up at pool 31. Our room was comfortable and clean. We decided to expand out a bit for meals and ate twice at the far side of El Dorado Royale at Rincón and a lunch at Kick. But were great. Worth the walk. We also had two dinners at Generations in The Wine Bar and at Jade. Both were fabulous. We had our normal meals at the D’Italian and Santa Fe. The number at Fuentes was as always the highlight of the week. Music by Pablo the Guitarman is the best. I am a huge fan of his and will likely appear to him as a crazy person. Still, he makes the evening for us. We had several exemplary employees we dealt with. Having been there approaching 15 times this was the Best service to date. We had great help from both of our Butlers Jorge & Alfredo. As members we also had a concierge and Adrian was the best we have had on property. Finally as people who hang on the beach beds all day Alberto was consistently there, friendly, and helpful. The resort, with the same owners but some new upper management is making great strides in Service as well as property changes. While some restaurants changed menus, which was a negative for me, I expect most people will be very pleased. They have a lot of options so I still had a new place to go every lunch and dinner. We only ate the lunch at 31 once an Friday. That was a mistake as it was the best of the week. Would have eaten there three times had I started earlier. Norma was my waiter and she was helpful with everything including my Spanish practice! Love the Casitas and will be back next May

Good trip to El Dorado Casitas - Experience was improved from a year ago
Another good stay at El Dorado Casitas Royale. We were there a year ago, and the overall experience has improved. We have been members for 9+ years, and the property seems to be moving forward after the ownership changes from a couple of years ago. We pay a lot for our room and expect great service, and the property delivered this year despite a few opportunities. Negatives: - Despite the check in taking place in the Exotic Lounge, we couldn't get a shuttle to our room. The check in agent indicated that it would be a while, and we should just walk. With what we paid for the Presidential 1-bedroom, a shuttle should not be an issue. Not to mention that the check in is supposed to take place in our room. -Still cannot make dining reservations in advance of the stay. Luckily the hotel wasn't that crowded, and we were able to get reservations. -Member gala dinner was completely booked for the location we wanted to attend. Why couldn't this be coordinated in advance of the stay? -Our room was in section 30. Just isn't the same experience as being in section 31 or 32. -Communication with the prearrival group was spotty. I had to call multiple times, and finally talked to someone who was able to ensure our prearrival selections were received. We never received confirmation of our airport transfers, but these were handled as expected. A Lomas rep had a sign this year with our name when exiting the airport, and this is a step forward from past trips. Positives: - Butler service was terrific. Alvaro is our favorite and is always so attentive. This was our first time with Alondra and Ruben. Both were also very good and always quick to respond. Luis handled our in suite dinner and did a great job. Fernando was the check for the in room dinner which was terrific. - Liquor selection for the swim up bars has improved dramatically. Had a decent selection of bourbon and whiskey, which was an opportunity last year. Still could not get these brands in the restaurants, but at least these were available in the swim up bars. -Overall food quality was good. Really the same level as we have come to expect. Portions were a little less than in prior years, but quality hasn't changed. Already booked another stay next year, and hope the property continues to move forward with improvements to the member experience.
