The Hawaiian Canoe Experience teaches guests Hawaiian traditions while offering a fun adventure. Participants learn the basics of paddling, as well as the history of the canoe and its importance to Hawaiian heritage. Used by native Hawaiians to cross the rough channels between the islands, the outrigger canoe was built out of koa and other hard native woods. Not only an instrument of fishing and sustenance gathering, the outrigger became the long distance means by which Hawaiians, and the greater Polynesian society projected both settlements and conquests. The Hawaiian Canoe Experience fills up quickly and advanced reservations are required.
However you choose to spend your time, be sure to open your mind and your heart to the Hawaiian culture. Hawaiians believe that we need to be conscious and grateful of all the things around us: our health, our family, and nature. The incredible culture is based on the fundamental principles of love, support, hospitality, and giving without the expectation of receiving.

WOW!
A drop-dead gorgeous lobby with soaring ceilings and beautiful architecture. All open and really gives you the sense of being in a grand, majestic place. Rooms have been renovated and are spacious and beautifully decorated. Bathroom is gorgeous and huge. Deck was a great size, but our “partial ocean view” room and minor view of ocean, and good view of the dumpster in the alleyway which was certainly annoying. Spring instead for the ocean or garden view rooms. Grounds are beautiful and spacious. Beautiful walkways with wonderful gas tiki torches lit at night that make it magical. Had a drink at the bar in Pilina and it was wonderful—completely open to the beautiul grounds and buildings. Although this is a large hotel, the buildings are of gorgeous architecture and are spaced so they’re not crowded. Ate at Nick’s Fishmarket and it was perfect. Beautiful outdoor seating, terrific food and service. A perfect place to stay in Maui.

Love the suites and beach
We stayed here for the first time recently. Absolutely love the suite design, tons of storage space, a bathroom that can be accessed two ways, walk-in shower, entryway area with closet and buffet, large lanai with table and chairs and lounge chair. Super comfortable mattress, bedside USB and power plug-ins. Liked the dining options, loved the beach in front of the hotel and the staff that sets up the chairs and umbrellas for you.

Very noisy people on the beach and you're right next door to them
The hotel room was lovely, clean and very nice. The hotel manager was very helpful Nice. The guy that checked me in it was horrible. I had asked for a garden room and upgraded through the hotel. And got a room with a wall. The manager allowed me to upgrade for a fee to an ocean view Room. The beach rules were terrible. You had to be there at 8 AM to sign in. They put you literally right on top of your neighbor and if you had to leave to go to lunch, you'd have to start all over again with the chairs you heard everybody's conversation and heard the kid screaming in your ear. Was not relaxing like most other hotels

Beautiful resort, definitely needs some updating but enjoyed our stay!!!
Beautiful resort. Pool bar was being remolded and we didn’t know this so it was closed down entire trip. Pool area needs an update. Uncomfortable/ outdated lounge chairs compared to other resorts. Beautiful rooms, beautiful restaurants and bars. Love this resort but be prepared to pay $45 for 3 fish tacos at the pool😬😬. Spa was ok, Grand Wailea spa was outrageously gorgeous so we went there. Overall great stay!!!!

Fantastic
What a magnificent property. Our family (4 adults 2 small children) chose a beachfront villa. It far exceeded our expectations. No criticisms
