Truly Amazing Experience at Fairmont Mayakoba!
We had an incredible stay at Fairmont Mayakoba! The service was top-notch, and the experience at Tauro restaurant was unforgettable. The atmosphere, food, and attention to detail made it truly special. We also loved participating in the artisan activities, such a unique experience! A big thank you to Enzo for informing us about these activities and making our stay even more memorable. Highly recommend!

Great property, amazing spa, lousy food
I will echo some of the positives on here. The property is beautiful. Shout out to the landscaping team who keep everything lush and perfect. We definitely felt like we were in a special place. Also pleasantly surprised that even with all the canals, water, and vegetation, we never had a mosquito problem. Do not miss the complimentary boat tour. Our guide Miguel was one of our favorite people from this whole trip. Knowledgeable, funny, just the perfect tone to start our day. A tip: reserve the 7:30 AM tour. We saw so many animals and birds. And it was so peaceful. Shout out to Gabriel at the reservation desk who told us we could order room service the night before to deliver pastries and coffee to the dock for our morning boat ride. Highly recommend. This was an absolutely perfect experience. I would go back for the spa alone. I love spas. I have visited some of the best in the world at some of the best hotels. Whoever designed the spa, should win awards. The layout, the serenity, the spaciousness, it’s all so well planned. I had a transcendent local copal experience and a massage by the amazing Monnserrat, that was the best spa experience I have ever had. She is magical. Afterwards, bring a bathing suit to enjoy the spa pool and Jacuzzi that feels like such a special respite from the busy pools elsewhere on the property. I felt truly pampered. This is a destination spa. La Cantina has a tequila tasting at 5 PM. Kevin was wonderful. His knowledge about the agave was clear and his passion for the drink turned me into a Mezcal lover. Now for the negatives. The food. We stayed for a week and I cannot recall a strong contender for a worthwhile food experience. They say to make reservations in advance. And we tried all of the restaurants. At every single one, even though we had a reservation, the tables were half empty, and yet there was always a wait. They shut food and beverage down at the pools at 5 PM. There are no casual dining options if you’ve got a teenager who just wants to grab a burger at 4 PM. Your only option is to order from one of the pool servers, who are hard to find. A couple of times we did order lunch from the pool. It works. But one day it didn’t come at all. I get that it’s March, Lots of families. But the hotel is clearly understaffed. The absolute worst part about the food situation, is that the menus are so repetitive. Good food should stand on its own. But here everything comes over sauced and wet. Gaia has a beautiful presentation and serves fish and clams, but order a nice fish fillet, and it comes in a giant puddle of sauce. Order the heirloom salad at Tauro, expecting some nice tomatoes, and it comes in a soupy puddle. At La Laguna, I ordered snapper tacos, thinking that at least wouldn’t be saucy, and I got overcooked snapper that was so dry it tasted like eating cotton balls. The execution on the food just isn’t where it should be for a Fairmont. We hated how structured the reservations were and there is no flexibility for casual food after 5 PM. If you’re a healthy eater, options are limited. If you’re here for a week, and your body can’t handle heavy dinners every night, you have to go into Playa Del Carmen or resort to Uber eats. Which we did one night, and it worked seamlessly. The food situation was the worst part of our stay. More flexibility and options for grabbing a salad or something less heavy would be so welcome. Early in our stay, there was a hot water problem and the pools and the hot tub were cold. And we did not have hot water in our room one night. They were able to rectify this though, and we were thankful that everything was back to normal the next day. Overall, because of the spa and the great staff mentioned above, I’d give this hotel another try. We will make more plans to go off property for dinners.

Wonderful family stay - can't wait to return!
We visited the Fairmont Mayakoba for the second time as a family in March 2025 with our two boys aged 5 and 9. It's one of our favourite resorts. The food is excellent, the property itself is beautiful and the service is top notch. It was a bit busy when we went which at times made it difficult to get chairs at the pool and dinner reservations, but the first time we went we did not experience this issue. A special shout out to the wonderful team at the kids club: Montse, Kadi, Tania - and to our waiter Alexis at La Laguna - and to our waiter (cannot remember his name but he had a seafood allergy!) at Fuego for above and beyond service. We'll definitely be back again next year and look forward to this little slice of paradise.

Heritage at Fairmont was perfect!
The Heritage at Fairmont was the perfect accommodations for our group of eight. It was spacious and the kitchen was wonderful to have to store drinks, fruit and snacks. Our butlers, Daniel and Alejandro, made our trip extra special with their attention to detail and quick attention to anything we needed whether it was a ride to a restaurant or the beach or finding dice so we could play a game at night. They made every dining reservation for us and when Saffron showed our reservation for the following evening, Daniel was able to quickly show email confirmations from them and get us in. We had a lovely time at all the restaurants, hanging at the beach or the pool, and just enjoying our time in this gorgeous location. I would highly recommend the complementary boat cruise to see the entire property. Lovely and get to see a lot of the wildlife. We will definitely be back!

Great hotel…not enough dinner slots
Beautiful property…it’s too bad the restaurant situation is such a disaster over spring break because there just aren’t enough dinner slots for the number of people on property. Unless you have reservations long before you get there you will be left scrambling for food choices. Luckily we didn’t have the all inclusive package so were able to go use the Rosewood restaurants when the Fairmont couldn’t accommodate us but even that is 50% more expensive than what you would think expensive would be.
