Good option for break from winter
Booked this hotel as last minute for week in December before Christmas. Sunwing flight to Panama was on time. Ride to the hotel from the airport was very short. The check in at the hotel was super SLOW. The rooms were so dated and in dire need for renovations. I am usually not picky because at beach destination, if the room is ok, I am ok but not this one. The room kept clean however, towels weren't always available when we returned to room from the beach. Two times we had to call the front desk for towels and had to wait in our wet bathing suits till we received them. The weather really cooperated during our visit; it rained on two separate days but lasted only less than 30 minutes. The huge plus of Panama weather is the steady temperature from day to night, no big fluctuation. The beach was ok, mainly rough waves but we really liked was there were always enough beach lounge chairs and shade, no reserving lounges like other resorts. The resort itself is vast, and it can be challenging if a person does not like to walk uphill or climb stairs. I, however, noticed there are rooms that are accessible. There were few pools and water slides that can be fun for the families with children. The main pool gets busy and loud. Again, we were able to find lounge chairs around the pool irrespective of the time of the day. Food, the good thing, the a-la- cart dinning is not limited to a number of reservation and the reservation process when I called in the morning was pretty simple, you can only book dinners at two consecutive days at a time and you can book the same restaurant more than once. That was a huge plus on this hotel . The quality of the food varied by the restaurant. The seafood and the med cafe stood out to us as the best. I didn't eat lunch at the buffet so I can't comment on the quality, and I only had juice and fruit for breakfast. In summary , you won't go hungry at the hotel. I don't drink alcohol so I can't comment on that either. The staff is friendly and very helpful. I plan to visit Panama again, perhaps Panama city next time.

Plus section is really nice
Plus is worth the upgrade. Feb 2025 will be our 3rd year in a row, we always pay for Plus. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean, resort and beach is beautiful. Built on a hill you get your exercise which I like, so be prepared, they do have vans running if you need a lift. I wish they indicated what foods have gluten in or are gluten free. I have an allergy and can avoid the obvious things easily enough, but they put it in things I would not expect. I did mention it last year when I check in, and they noted it on the computer, but the message never made it to the buffet or restaurant managers.

Not Senior Friendly
We stayed in Grand Decameron property. We stayed for 12 days. The weather was warm and sunny. Its located about 2 1/2 hours from the Panama City airport. The one issues that struck is that me that it is not senior Friendly. The property is located on the side of a hill. We stayed on top the hill and the dining, pools, entertainment, and the beach were at the bottom. That meant climbing 52 steps up and down about 5 or 6 times a day. Thier were too many tripping hazards to count. if you go be careful. doug

Worst stay ever!
Worst beach hotel in Panama! They don’t respect check in time. The room is give 1.5 hours later and at check out time we went to puck up our bags at noon time and keys had been disconnected, we had to wait 40 min for someone to come and open the door for us to pick up the bags and leave the hotel. Worth mentioning the ladies at the reception desk are super rube and not helpful at all. During this trip another incident happened in the main pool were someone was injured because of a broken glass in the pool. Also a pool basketball game had to be stopped because of a fight in the pool.

Do not reccomend
We went from dec 19-26,2024. Overall I would rate this resort poorly. Our room had mold in the shower, on the ceiling, and even on the painting on the wall. I mean it's probably inevitable in a place that naturally has high humidity. I always felt our room was dirty even after it was cleaned. It just never felt clean. The food selection wasn't the best and some didn't taste well at all. Of all the all inclusives resorts I have been to (this is #6 for me) this was by far the worst. The staff only speak Spanish. Some speak English like reception but that's pretty much it. A la carte reservations were a nightmare. We were a very large group and I tried to add 2 kids to one reservation and they told us it was full. When we went to the a la carte there were many empty tables. The food at the a carte tasted awful. But you get what you pay for. On our way back home, some one at the panama airport (airport close to thr resort) went through our baggage and stole a fit bit and cigars. Evidence is all out items were flipped out of there containers. If you go to this resort or use air transant through the airport close to this resort, I suggest you lock your bags. Overall we enjoyed our trip because of who we went with. Service was bad, food bad, room moldy, and we had couple items stolen from us.
