Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen
Great hotel and great location. Had nice beach days most days and just a few days with algae on the ocean. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Attentive staff. Close to 5th avenue if you want to walk around town. Will definitely repeat in the future.

Santos Jimenez was tops. Service was excellent. Always a happy welcoming disposition. A real pleasure to be served by and a real gentleman all around who made our family feel very comfortable and welcomed. Always with a smile and no ask too much for Santos to cater to - thank you Santos!!!

Excellent !
Spectacular hotel setting. The design creates a wind tunnel down the middle of the hotel which is amazing! We had the entry level suite with an ocean view which was beatiful. Staff and service was excellent! We look forward to returning to this hotel.

Okay stay in Playa del Carmen
Positives: * Great location in PdC (right on the main tourist drag) * Very nice pool areas * Right on the beach * Nice grounds. We liked the downward sweep from the lobby to the ocean. * Good and varied dining options (although expensive) * The staff was very helpful, especially when it came to switching rooms (see below) Negatives: * Our first room was so damp and musty that water was dripping down the walls and pooling on the floor. Apparently a lot of rooms have this problem. We were able to switch to a better room after the first night, but clearly the rooms are in need of updating. * Noisy every night we stayed there. Like, until after midnight. They don't seem to enforce quiet hours. The had a special event one night that didn't start until after 10pm. Bring earplugs if you are not a deep sleeper. * The facilities generally seems run down and in need of some TLC. We got a great deal and would probably go back for the same price, but I think otherwise there are probably better options in PdC.

Very average We will not go back.
The configuration of the hotel is "weird". It is built on a hill overlooking a beach. So, you spend time going up and down stairs or a pathway. After a week spent in our room, we have not been able to turn down the A/C (too cold). Same goes with the electrical system that is somewhat automatic, and it is difficult to have the right light in the right place. The restaurants, there are three: Mexican. The grill and Sushis. The food is average (we ate in two restaurants) and like some other guests at the hotel, we decided to eat out. The beach... There are still some seaweeds in the water. It is not as bad as few years ago in Playa del Carmen but still, the presence of seaweeds in the water is not ideal. The swimming pools are full of young kids... Not ideal for swimming... We will NOT go back to the Grand Hyatt in Playa del Carmen
