A fine stay but we will not be back.

I will echo some of the more recent reviews with a couple of additions: Pluses: Lovely manicured grounds. In general, the staff is great and the food at the Grill, and the breakfast buffet are also good. We had a good a la carte dinner at Arii Vahine. I had a wonderful Lumi Lumi massage with Elodie (would highly recommend if you like a deep deep tissue massage). The rooms are comfortable and the lagoon is really quite lovely to snorkel in. We have stayed in Bora Bora twice and there isn't much snorkeling around the hotels so this was a nice treat. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms in the rooms are smartly designed so that you can wash/drip dry without having getting the bathroom floor wet or taking up space in the shower. Minuses: While the rooms and resort buildings are not in terrible shape, there is obvious wear and tear and some real need for TLC. Our toilet needed to be flushed twice for it to work properly. There was a patch on the stone of the bathroom wall where maybe an old accessory/rack/toilet roll holder had been. The floors were scratched. There was a hole in one side of the roof in Arii Vahine. Fixtures in resort bathrooms were falling apart. Two cardio machines in the fitness room did not work, and so on. I thought the food for the Polynesian show was terrible and very expensive, including raw oysters that tasted bad (I ate one, realized it was bad, but happily did not get sick). The front desk staff need training. There seemed to be mixed messages about getting/ordering a breakfast box before the restaurant opened as we were scuba diving early as well as about when it was ok to inquire about late check-out. I had booked a "Panoramic" overwater bungalow which definitely was not panoramic. We had a view of the break/ocean but the side views were of other bungalows. The other resorts we have stayed in called these "ocean" or "lagoon" views. The bungalows are also close so you can hear the conversations of your neighbors if they are on their deck. Additionally, we had 2 rounds of loud neighbors and you could hear them even if we were in the room and they were outside. Finally and probably my biggest complaint is that I do not understand how a hotel cannot provide filtered water and relies instead on individual plastic bottled water to support their guests! We brought our own water bottles to refill (given to us from another resort that had filtered water stands around the premises and potable water in the rooms) but there was only one place to get water from a cooler (by the pool), and we were otherwise going through 5-8 plastic bottles/day. It seems hypocritical to ask guests to not wash sheets every day, use recyclable forks/spoons, etc., but still rely on environmentally unfriendly plastic water bottles to provide drinkable water to guests in such a hot climate whose economy also relies on its natural unsoiled beauty. It was a fine stay overall, but we will not come back to this resort.

    Enjoyable visit. But…..

Firstly the good. The resort is immaculately manicured with lovely gardens and a well kept beach. Our garden bungalow was clean, well equipped and very well serviced. A plumbing problem was sorted in minutes. The Rotui Grill and bar offered excellent casual dining as did the crepe cafe. By vast the majority of staff are friendly and courteous adding to the Polynesian experience. Now the not so good. The main restaurant ( The Vahine restaurant) is overpriced and of inconsistent quality. It is however is excellent for breakfasts and on buffet/ entertainment evenings. The arrangements regarding the pool/ beach attendants need attention. Firstly some of the staff need to be trained in customer service and one in particular can be rude bordering on agressive. Towels need to be obtained by an archaic system of cards, the beach canoes, boards etc need to be returned by 5 pm when most guests want a sunset experience. One final point. We stayed for eight nights but at no time was there any management visibility !! Would we re visit this resort-yes. Mostly a positive experience.

Bonjour, Aroha Mai - Just Right

AI and travelers reviews focus on furniture and service at Hilton Moorea. However, it’s about the cultivated aquarium that opens to the seas. It’s the amazing sunrise from your bungalow bed, spotting manta rays at sunset, and the countless stars looking up from your dock landing. Further, Tahitian staff are attentive and gracious hosts. This Hilton attracts diverse guests and mostly from USA. Mostly couples, some kids, some single friends. At the stairs of Bungalow 81, you’ll find one of the most active coral formations. I especially loved the tiny blue fish and baby angelfish. Beware of the Picasso fish—they nibble and will humble you. The property should eliminated plastic bottles, perhaps switching to reusable glass containers like those used at Canopy properties. Mauruuru

One of the best vacations in my adult life.

This is unbelievable. I have never stayed at a Hilton Resort before. The friendliest staff, so kind, helpful and gracious. As I have found all the inhabitants of this magical island to be. The food is incredible at the 3 restaurants. The crepe restaurant was my number 3. Learned how to make a lei, at one of the daily activity classes. Gorgeous grounds, a different type of swimming pool. The lagoon is right here for sun bathing, swilling, free snoring, paddle boarding and kayaking. I have not been returning to vacation spots, but hope to do so in 2 years. God has really out shined himself with the natural beauty of this island paradise. What a way to begin 2025!

    The best hotel on Moorea!

For a luxury stay on the island of Moorea it really comes down to either the Hilton or the Sofitel. After our stay on this incredibly beautiful island we are so happy with our choice of the Hilton. We had just finished a week on Bora Bora in the lap of luxury and the Hilton Moorea was such a nice blend of luxury and authenticity. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Hilton Moorea. The resort itself is gorgeous. It feels very much like you would imagine Polynesia to feel like with beautiful, verdant green mountains, thatched roof huts and sublime crystal clear azure waters. We were here to celebrate a milestone birthday. Check in was relatively smooth. The only minor snafu was that we did not get the room we were hoping for. However, once we settled into our premier ocean view bungalow, # 83, we were delighted. It may not have been the best room or location at the resort, but it was pretty spectacular. First, let me just say that if you’re traveling to this island, you really should spend the money on an overwater bungalow. It makes the experience so much better than you can even imagine! The room consists of a fairly large bathroom and a king size bed with approximately 2 x 4’ glass panel on the floor for viewing. However, the whole reason why you spend the money for an overwater bungalow is the outdoor deck and view. The deck consists of two levels, one sitting area primarily undercover, and then a small platform with access to the water via a ladder. One thing that we enjoyed so very much at this resort was the massive amounts of coral surrounding the bungalows. This resort felt very mature. Yes, it probably needs a little bit of attention and some updating but that didn’t really take away from any of our experience. The resort felt like it’s been there for a while and that was very comforting. The coral had, obviously, a lot of time to grow. There were tons of fish. It was really, really pleasurable. After our daily excursions and exploring this beautiful island we were so delighted to come back to the room and simply hang out and read, listen to music and snorkel. One fabulous thing this resort does is provide you free access to kayaks and paddle boards. Each evening after our day and before dinner, we would grab one of these and spend an hour or so cruising around the resorts waters. We highly recommend doing this. Now for the food, the breakfast buffet was included in our rate and we really enjoyed it every morning. The food was fresh and delicious and had pretty much everything and more that you could possibly want. The lady making the eggs each morning did a masterful job and was so friendly. The only complaint I would have is if you’re going to make hashbrowns don’t put them in a pot with a lid over them. They get soggy instantaneously! But we’re pulling threads at this point! We did attend their Polynesian dinner and show twice. We really enjoyed the food from their buffet and the show was very entertaining. We ate several times for lunch by the pool and the restaurant was terrific. We do encourage anyone who visits this beautiful island to get out and explore and try some of the many restaurants nearby - especially Rudys! Throughout our stay, we interacted with a variety of the staff of which every one of them was cordial and helpful. I would say it wasn’t quite the level of service we experienced in Bora Bora, but it was completely satisfactory. However, the true gem of this resort and highlight of our time here, was the spa. The hostess Julie was such an absolute pleasure. She would spend time with you getting to know exactly what you desired in a massage. She was so unbelievably good at her job and such a pleasure to speak with. We had three massages while we were on property. Two of them were with the masseuse Juliette. She was simply divine. Some of the best massages we’ve ever experienced! Sure wish she lived closer to home! Overall, our experience with this hotel and resort was tremendous. I certainly hope we make it back to the island of Moorea and we would without a doubt stay here again. We have already recommended this resort to all of our friends and family. We certainly hope you enjoy your time here as much as we did ours!
