Super break to celebrate an 80th birthday!
Lovely hotel. We know Nerja well but have always been in an apartment. This was a quick week to celebrate my husband's 80th birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed the Riu Monica Hotel. It is a very nice hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, the whole hotel was spotlessly clean and the food and entertainment excellent. Lovely room with sea view and close to the elevator. We will certainly return.

fabulous
From checking in to checking out everythig was perfect. Brilliant staff who cant do enough for you, nothing too much trouble. Cleanest and most comfortable hotel I have stayed in. The choice and quality of the food was very enjoyable and plentiful. Outside space was spotless and cleaned everyday, gardens were beutiful. This hotel seems to have got it right in every aspect and the staff were amazing. Will be returning soon I hope.

A little bit of paradise
We stayed at the Monica for 2 weeks from 24/11 and were blessed with beautiful weather . The staff at the hotel were nearly all familiar, as this was our 4th visit , and as usual they were all efficient and friendly . The hotel is in a great spot , just far enough from the centre for a nice walk after dinner and near to local transport . We can’t wait to go back .

Top class hotel
Stayed for a week as part of a TUI package hotel is spotless only issue is the charge for the room safe think this is a bit unnecessary as in reality every traveller needs to have one to safeguard belongings, passport cash etc... The dining room for breakfast and dinner was very good with ample choice and good quality.

Nice pre Christmas break
This is my last day at the hotel, which we booked about a week before arrival, we weren’t expecting miracles as far as the room was concerned, but unfortunately the basement rooms which must be pleasantly shady in the height of summer are quite cold in winter, this was further exacerbated by the very bad smell in the bathroom, which I reported to reception but didn’t improve during the week we have been here. Cleaning absolutely spot on. Entertainment mixed, but don’t miss the Rock and Roll Bros if they are appearing during your stay, they are brilliant. Food as expected, some hotels cook you a breakfast omelette some don’t, some have smoothies some don’t, I thought the food was good value but not outstanding. The restaurant staff again outstanding service, special shout out to Harriet, I hope she stays the course. Drinks are very competitively priced, bottles of wine at dinner 10-15 euros, very reasonable. We were put off the menu in the downstairs restaurant because two out of three main courses contained cooked cheese a particular allergy of mine I expect they might have served it without the sauce, I spoke to people to did use it but they weren’t overly impressed. There are more than 50 steps down to the pool area, to avoid this you need to take the lift to -1 floor the walk along the corridor to the next lift which will take you to -3 The surrounding area outside the hotel has lots of bars within a short walk, also worth mentioning are the charity shops, my other half left his belt at airport security and bought one there for a euro, also a good source of cheap books, 3 for 2 euros. Overall despite no English TV which would have been useful on the rainy days, I really enjoyed this pre Christmas break and wouldn’t hesitate to return, albeit in a different room.
