Fantastic for the family
Just finished a short stay at the Fiji Intercontinental. A real gem of a hotel - as long as you know what to expect from Fijian hospitality. The hotel is about an hour's drive away from the airport, so anticipate a long drive after a long flight. Once there, you'll be immediately impressed by the size and scale of the resort. A welcome rum cocktail drink on arrival makes for a nice touch. Check-in pretty easy and a buggy will drive you to your room with all of your luggage. The room, although a little old, is excellent and in particular the pool view rooms are fantastic. It's worth nothing that this hotel is absolutely a family resort, so you may hear children playing from very early in the morning, so if you're a light sleeper keep that in mind. I also didn't realise that the balcony had a curtain and the side windows had blinds, so as we checked in late we didn't see that these could be closed - might be good to ask staff to direct guests to this as it was rather dark in the room. The bed was very comfortable. Bathroom really good; no issues. Breakfast was good, a decent selection of food on offer that changed each day. Had to ask a few times to get coffees and staff members are slow, but I think that is ordinary. There's lots going on around the pool - great for the kids! There's a coffee shop and ice cream shop right next to the pool area, such a great touch. Also worth pointing out that guests won't need to go out of the resort to pick up snacks, water, sun cream etc., as there are shops inside of the hotel that cater for this. We didn't feel any need to leave the resort for the duration of our stay. Dinner options all really good. Ate at all three places and have to say nothing wrong at all. The bar is awesome - great cocktails and polite staff. The gym is small (and often very busy) but has plenty of equipment. I thought this was a great value place to take the family. Definitely worth a visit!

Intercontinental Fiji
Our third trip to Fiji but our first at the Intercontinental. Hands down the best resort we have stayed at in Fiji. Fantastic location, spa, golf course and facilities. Food at all of the restaurants and dining areas was excellent, especially the Tabo Bar and Grill. It is a cashless resort, however the shops do take Fiji cash currency. My husband caught a stomach bug at the start of our trip and was sick for several days. The staff were very caring and frequently checked in and the medical staff member, Henry, was extremely professional and thorough. The only downside of our trip is we were ripped off by one of the boat men who linger on the lagoon side of the resort, selling boat services to the village, etc. It is a public beach so totally our fault for trusting the locals, however there was a staff member present who was familiar with the boat man when we booked the trip to the other side of the island and the village. Would have been nice to have had a warning. Buyer beware I guess. Apart from that we had an amazing holiday and will definitely be going back to the Intercontinental Resort.

Great service
We love the nice architecture and interior designs and their attentive service. Generous buffet portions. Btw, my wife and I lost our kids’ spectacles at the beach. The staff found them and returned to us on the same day. Phew! What a relief.

10/10!! We want to be back
We loved it! We can’t recommend this place enough! We went as a family of 4 from Australia. Our kids are 6&7 years old. It was easy to travel to as it was just an hour from the airport. The moment we step foot in the resort and was greeted with cocktails and soft toys for the kids - it set the mood! It is on Natadola Beach which is a white sandy beautiful beach (unlike denaru which has black sand, or coral coast which has shelly rough sand). We had a beach access room (not beach front) just beach access and we loved its position. We were able to go for a snorkel and swim on the beach and the kids can have a bath in the garden (bath is outdoors) before coming into the room. There is a big pool for the kids and while you can get floaters, and bring pool toys (which we did) the kids really didn’t want them, and they end up finding friends and playing imaginary games in the pool and also just on the lawn every night as the adults have a drink and watch the nightly little entertainment- the kids will just run around the lawn with other kids. Kids club was a big hit for my kids. I have heard that this resort isn’t amazing in this but my kids loved it anyway. The staff is just super kid friendly so the kids ain’t scared and my kids wanted to go everyday. Food wise it’s not amazing, but i think it depends on what kind of food expectations you have. This is the 3rd time I have been to Fiji and it isn’t known for its food. But it was tasty enough, with enough variety. We stayed for 7 nights, but it isn’t enough, really should have made it 10! While you are there I highly recommend booking Ecotrax as a tour, we also did tours from locals that are on the beach right outside the resort to go to one of the close by islands and snorkel. Got our hair braided by local on the right side of beach from Rachel- Blue cabana. Got a massage with her while the kids got their hair braided. 10/10!

Stunning room and so friendly
We arrived for only a few days. And we met at the airport for a private transfer, this was a brilliant as we had expected to be with everyone else but just us two. Our room was upgraded and the beach was beautiful. Huge praise to Kirti and to esp to William who was so friendly on our transfer back to the airport on our last day.
