Pricey but beautiful sea side resort
It is a beautiful property overall. I was worried the room might be a bit small for our family of 4 but it was ok, standard hotel room size. It is great that the rooms have balconies. The staff are all very friendly and kind (except the one that checked us in). Breakfast staff were always cheerful and went out of their way to help. The sea right out front is pretty rough, we walked the beach a bit and our teens could "swim" / play in the water. The teen club was a disappointment - one Xbox (all in Spanish) and one fuseball table). You do have to drive to anything, it is remote with nothing else near it (other than other big hotels). The biggest downside is everything was extremely, extremely expensive - food and drinks! Drinks were a minimum $15. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, all other meals we ate out (although the Cabo area is also just very expensive in general). The one disappointment was when we checked in as Platinum Elite members we had to ask about a room upgrade, they said they could upgrade us from a resort view to an ocean view. It turned out it was a tree view. Huge palm trees blocked any view, of the resort or ocean.

Beautiful Resort tucked away in a quiet place.
Got to enjoy this resort a few months ago on a business trip to Los Cabos. Like some of the other reviews have said Resort is tucked away which makes it unique. It’s quiet and peaceful where it’s at. It seems like it’s far from many of the attractions, but really depends on which you’re talking about. It is a short drive from the plaza and many other restaurants like Acre. It has an adult pool, which I loved with views to the ocean. The service here is amazing and they go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. I highly recommend this resort if you’re looking for a little bit of quiet and privacy.

Amazing hotel - kids club a lifesaver !
Amazing hotel. We heavily used the kids club. They were so friendly, had great activities, our kids loved going there and we had no remorse dropping them off :) Food was reasonably priced relative to some other resorts, rooms were comfortable. Every part of this hotel leaves you feeling wowed !

Thanksgiving to Remember: Raving About JW Marriott San José del Cabo
What began as a stressful travel nightmare turned into one of the most unexpectedly beautiful experiences, all thanks to the incredible team at JW Marriott San José del Cabo. We were in San José del Cabo for a dear friend’s wedding bride (otherwise, traveling so close to Thanksgiving wouldn’t have been on the agenda). Our flight ✈️ , originally scheduled for Wednesday evening, 11/27, at 6:35 PM, was delayed endlessly. After hours of waiting, the airline finally admitted defeat and suggested we either sleep at the airport or return at 4 AM. Neither option felt viable, especially with Thanksgiving looming. In a moment of desperation, I texted our amazing driver from Incredible Los Cabos Locations at 10:30 PM. Despite the late hour, he graciously came to the rescue and picked us up. With few choices, I booked a last-minute reservation at the JW Marriott San José del Cabo, 40 minutes from the airport. Even though we planned to leave at 3 AM to catch the rescheduled flight, I asked the staff if they could provide a larger room for our party of three, given the long day we’d endured. Here’s where the magic began. We arrived at the stunning property close to midnight, and the staff went above and beyond. Knowing JW Marriott properties are often known for being “stingy with room upgrades,” I didn’t expect much, especially since I booked the lowest rate & room type available. But they surprised us with an ocean view room featuring a wraparound balcony! Even though it was too dark to see the ocean, the soothing sound of waves crashing made us feel instantly at ease. As I stayed up trying to sort out our flight situation, it became clear we wouldn’t be leaving at 4 AM—a blessing in disguise, as that flight was ultimately canceled. I rebooked us on a different airline for Friday instead. Though it was bittersweet to miss Thanksgiving with my son for the first time in 26 years, I focused on making the best of our unexpected delay. When I extended our stay for an additional night, I knew there was no guarantee we’d be able to keep the upgraded room—especially since the suite was seven times more expensive than what we originally paid. Yet, the JW Marriott team made it happen, cementing their commitment to exceptional guest service and turning this into a truly special experience. From that moment on, we embraced our “extended vacation.” The resort itself is breathtaking, immaculate, with delicious dining options and a variety of pools to explore. Lounging on the balcony, listening to the waves, and even spotting whales 🐳 swimming in the distance was magical. The property also has a gated entrance with guards, so every driver has to check in at the gate before entering. We also ventured out to the Thursday night Art Walk in downtown San José del Cabo, which was an enchanting experience. Our impromptu Thanksgiving dinner of tamales, street 🌽 and churros might not have been traditional, but it was unforgettable. What truly stood out was the staff. Their attentiveness and genuine kindness weren’t just about Bonvoy status; they embody top-notch hospitality. Every interaction felt warm and thoughtful, turning what could have been a travel disaster into a luxurious, relaxing escape. Thank you, JW Marriott San José del Cabo, for going above and beyond and transforming a chaotic situation into a Thanksgiving we’ll cherish forever. We couldn’t have been “stuck” in a better place!

Another great stay at the JW Marriott Los Cabos
Somewhat new pickleball courts are a great addition. A sign up sheet for pickleball open play would generate more awareness. JW staff is always helpful and friendly. Julia in housekeeping is a gem. She knows I like bottled water and put a couple of extra bottles in the room, after I requested more the first morning. She also left fun towel art on the bed, and the room was spotless. There is also complimentary bottled water in the fitness center. A 15 minute walk on the beach and you’ll be at the Ritz Carlton Zadun. Enjoy a cocktail or sandwich at their beachside bar. La Comer is a large upscale grocery store on the way from the airport to the JW. The store has a large pharmacy, liquor department, gourmet sandwiches and snacks. There is also a Starbucks across from the main entrance. Uber from the JW to La Comer is about $7 USD each way. Taxi is $20 each way.
