Not what we expected.
We traveled to Belize with two other couples November 2024. One booked the rooms here for us. Since we did not book the room I wanted to leave my impression of this resort. We were the additional guest in 230D. Our initial impression was that of a lovely place for a vacation get-a-way. It quickly led to several surprising disappointing moments. Staff were lovely and kind with one exception with one negative experience with a less than courteous coffee house staff. The beach club, which we were only able to utilize for the first half of our trip due to tropical storm Sara, began as a wonderful impression. Quickly went south when we discovered there was a 10% gratuity added without our knowledge. Not only did we tip on our bill but we also tipped with cash. We also felt the pinch of the overly priced menu $10.00 American for a soda and overly priced beverages is outrageous. The Paddle boards were sub-par, missing components and had taped together paddles. The cabana we reserved had black mold on the cushions. The bar tried to double bill us and another couple we were with. Overcharging for things we did not order. This felt like we were being taken advantage of. Not the quality I expected from a fine establishment. The following times we visited the beach club we did not tip so generously as we felt we had more than compensated, we discovered service started to lack after that. Tropical storm Sara hit later in our trip. The hotel never offered compensation for the loss of use due to the storm for the private beach which was an added fee on our bill. A dinner or bar credit would have been nice. When they opened the pool when the beach club was closed, it was filled with debri which did not get cleaned until the next day. We also experienced no water a couple times as our water was shut off. The other two had flooding from rain coming through the window and another had a water heater go bad and flooed their bathroom. They also had not cable or phone for most of the trip. Although there was a little refrigerator, there was no ice machine or ice trays, no coffee or tea in the rooms (something we are accustomed to and would highly suggest). I drink de-calf and cannot have dairy and none were offered in the lobby. Paper towels would also have been nice. We had to ask the staff for them. When told there was a care package coming at 5:00PM during the shutdown from the tropical storm we had to call twice as it was getting quite late. Surprisingly we were given rotten bananas, a couple of apples, skim milk, potato chips and an old, crushed sandwich of some sort. Not the quality we expected from a Hilton resort. We did appreciate the offer of a refund for one of the nights as we toiled with leaving the island a day early due to the storm, unfortunately we had to stay as all flights were cancelled. They were able to accommodate us. Our friend that booked the rooms asked for the bill to be ready for us early as we were flying on the 7AM. The person they had working the desk, did not have the appropriate training to do this and we barely made our flight because of this. I also found mouse droppings on the counters, which was disturbing. Overall, we loved the comfort of the rooms but were less impressed with the overall quality of the experience. We have stayed in many Hilton's and resorts of similar comparisons. This was not up to the standards we expected and were accustomed to. I would highly recommend an evaluation of management practices.

Fun times with our mastermind group and tropical storm Sara
Great people! The whole staff is amazing. Special shout out to Miguel in the dining room for great service and to Steve at the bar for an amazing run tasting! Thanks for sharing your smiles and stories with us. Being a short golf cart drive from town made it a very convenient spot. Fun times even with tropical storm Sara.

Pretty unbelievable
Totally lost faith in Trip Advisor after this stay. Mahogany Bay is a hoodwink. The pictures are very old or doctored. The “resort” is surrounded by construction, big equipment has to go in and out via the resort road, and it does so all day. The dirt, dust, and noise level is unacceptable. They do not have enough staff to keep this property nice…litter everywhere. The rooms do not have windows…just screens with slated shutters. The sound of saws and construction go all day and the barking dogs (that must roam) go all night. The rooms and pool and dock area look old/tired/run down. The resort sits on the water, but it’s actually more swamp…so they send you out to their private island that is also on a swamp and very run down. Do your homework and find something on the ocean/reef side and not in the mangrove/swamp…because we messed up and depended on the Hilton Curio name. And this was a huge mistake we will not make again. I, also, will not be basing my stays on Trip Advisor reviews.

Family vacation in San Pedro
We spent 8 nights 🌙 in San Pedro at Mahogany Bay Resort & Beach Club. We trust the Hilton brand in general, especially its higher end resorts, and having read good reviews 👍, the choice to stay here was an easy one. We were 2 couples: my wife & myself, and my sister-in-law & her boyfriend. Our accommodations were a 2 Queen Keeper Suite (the downstairs ground level of the bungalow) and my wife's sister and bo above us on the 2nd level King Keeper Suite. Both were spacious throughout, including the bathrooms, and afforded a good level of privacy. The resort is a sprawling array of free standing bungalows with of various sizes and ammenities with ceiling fans and air conditioning. We had a mini fridge, screened in front porch with its own ceiling fan, furniture, and room for visitors, plenty of closet space, a backyard of sorts with blooming 🌺 hibiscus, a kitchen sink, and plenty of counter space. Anything needed, like fresh towel delivery, was just a phone call away, to the front desk (located in the main building with the restaurant & pool). The suite would benefit from the addition of a full length mirror, but other than that minute detail nothing critical comes to mind. Cynthia in reservations was my first point if contact with the resort and she saw to it that our family group of 2 couples had accommodations we'd be happy to call home for a little over a week located together as requested, one above the other. As I said the resort is sprawling, and we rented a 4 seater golf cart for our entire stay, not only to get around the resort, but also to drive into San Pedro town many times and clear across the Caye to the not so secret Secret Beach. We went far and wide, and all on one 5 gallon tank of gas. The hotel's restaurant in the main building offers indoor air conditioned dining and outdoor al fresco dining on their porch. We had dinner and breakfast here several times throughout our stay (and also ate offsite in San Pedro town and equal amount). The breakfasts here were hearty & delicious and we loved the service Miguel & Kimberly provided. (Buen Provecho Kimberly!) The dining room affords a pleasant ambiance to enjoy evening meals. Ivira waited on our table most nights and has a classy pleasent way about her that goes beyond proficiency as a server. The entire nighttime restaurant staff went out of their way to make us feel special. There are also a couple other private restaurants on property and a pool club (in addition to the resort's pool area that is also very nice). We enjoyed the pool club one evening, and the entire next day as well. Very yummy craft cocktails there where they make all their own infusions. The resort has its own private beach ⛱️ that they speedboat you over and back to at various times in the morning and throughout the day. There are beach chairs with umbrellas, tables and chairs, palapas, over the water hammocks, and several very reasonably priced over the water cabanas to rent where the waiters are happy to wade out to you to bring you your food and drinks. There are only a limited number of those, so if you have your heart 💙 set on one, get there early & claim it. Every day at the beach club is like a little chillaxing party and the seawater is very warm and shallow. You can walk out forever and not be over your head. All & all, Mahogany Bay Resort & Beach Club lends itself to being a more than adequate home base to have an Unbelizable time on Ambergris Caye & do it up in style. Hope you have as good a time there as we did. CHEERS!

Why Ever Go Elsewhere?
We toured the resort as part of buying a cottage here. Wow! They really have these place designed for people who say, "why would I need to leave?" Tons of eating choices, from super casual to fancy. Several bars, including one at the saltwater (!) pool. A private beach they take you to by boat. Lots of little shops at The Village. It has residential and rental cottages and homes of every possiblr size. Go to their amenities page, click discover more on each amenity, way too much to write!
