Truly warm and genuine island welcome!
Everything here is what you would expect from a Marriott property resort. BUT I have to give a big shout out to the welcome team at Westin main entrance. I came down with a crying baby this morning and they were so helpful. We got on the resort shuttle bus. Chandal, our driver was very friendly and immediately calmed the baby down. We just rode around the resort for almost an hour picking up and dropping off people! He’s waving and had such a blast! Chandal offered us water and wet towels. She really was a life saver this morning to a very tired parent. A BIG shout out to her and staff for their genuine island welcome!

Did not feel welcome here
As the title describes we simply did not feel welcome here. Some of the staff were nice but enough of them were condescending or indifferent that it really soured our experience. Overall we felt like an imposition. Another reason for the low rating was that the room was in poor repair and was not clean. Broken tap. Lamps missing bulbs. Things left unplugged that required moving heavy furniture to remedy. Empty shampoo bottle discovered part way through shower. Dirty shower floor. Room not actually cleaned during stay. Etc.

Great Resort and staff! Angelique is amazing!
Angelique is amazing. She went above and beyond to ensure we have a great stay. I will be returning just because she made us feel so welcome. Thank you Angelique. The resort is beautiful. The rooms and view are breathtaking! For sure a 10 out of 10!

Nice but overpriced
We checked in for a 5 day stay at the Westin Frenchmans Reef. Overall the property is really nice, they have obviously been working very hard to restore it after the two Cat 5 hurricanes a few years back. The rooms are new and clean and everything worked. Pluses : Clean rooms, friendly staff, beautiful pools and facilities. Minuses : Very pricey food and drinks. Get used to $100 lunches and $200 dinners for two. Some bars auto-add gratuity and some bars don’t so pay attention. Drinks are over priced and weak. We knew when we went to the gift shop to get a couple of diet cokes and a sandwich and it was $38, we were going to have to go into town and shop. The Westin is next to another property called Morningstar Buoy Haus which is apparently owned by the same parent company because you can charge food and beverages there too. Our favorite bar was at the Buoy. It was located by the pools and right at the beach shore. Lots of breeze, pretty views and ambiance, the food was excellent too. The beach there is awesome, no need to trek around the island and fight the cruise ship crowds, you have the best beach with bars and restrooms. You can use everything except the pools. Unfortunately, they will chase you out of the pool if you aren’t a guest there. Asking around, there is a spat between the properties and neither will let the other use the others pools, bummer. OK, so back to the Westin that we are paying a fortune for, lets head to the pools. The Westin staff will chase you out of certain areas of the pools too. We were sitting in a cabana looking out of the water and wanted to charge us for the use of that too. So, where can I sit at the pool that I paid for? You can sit in the chairs….Would you like an over priced drink or food? No thanks. I'm glad we got a rental car, it was not as hard as I had feared, the rental process at the airport was fairly smooth (Budget). I thought I’d have to argue about additional insurance but I didn’t. Driving on the left side was not that bad but watch out when you are a little tired, you might take a turn into the wrong side. Drivers seemed to get more impatient and aggressive as the sun goes down. We never had a problem parking at the Westin, there were barely enough spaces available but we always found something. It was nice to have a car to explore other restaurants and get away from the hotel prices. By Friday, we were ready to leave. I'd say three full days with a rental car is all you need. This could have been a 5 star review if the prices were a little more reasonable and the silly pool stuff. Maybe we’ll check back in 5 or 10 years to see if there have been any improvements. YMMV

Amazing but slow processes
Kyara L made my check out process super fast! Food was AMAZING, in every single restaurant I went to. Processes are slow… “island time”. And you need to check a hundred times with them if you order something / ask for a taxi to make sure it will be there on time for you. But all the personnel is kind I had a great experience all in all!
