still good even though they are preparing to become all-inclusive
Located less than 10 minutes from PVR airport and in walking distance to Marina Vallarta, this is a very good Marriott resort hotel. The proximity to the airport and the convenience to the marina can't be beat. If you get a room in the Tower A you will also have an outstanding ocean view of Banderas Bay. There is a daily resort fee. Front desk persons Juan and Azumera(?) provided great courteous service always. Comfortable bedding and lots of lighting in the room, along with an excellent walk-in shower and bathroom. Note that there is no microwave in the room, but there is a small fridge and you may have a mini-bar set-up if you'd like. Superb balcony with ocean view. Housekeeper Sandra also made up my room nicely every day. The breakfast buffet in La Estancia is excellent. Andrea or Fernanda will make you awesome omelettes cooked to order. Lots of other items to choose from - fresh fruits, yogurt, Mexican specialties, and more. Don't miss trying the jugo verde - delicious! Their Marriott burger is classic - no matter where you are in the world you will find a quality burger at any Marriott hotel. Must be a standard. The fitness center is excellent - large facility with many weight stations, free weights, I think a half dozen treadmills + more exercise bikes and ellipticals, separate studio with exercise mats. They also have a health spa on the other side of the fitness center. The word is that this hotel is turning into an all-inclusive in 2025, so I advise inquiring in advance as to whether there will be construction (jack hammer, drilling) during your stay period or not - especially if you are looking for quiet. I've heard stories of major disruptions...I thankfully did not have any such noisy disruptions during my week's stay. The big question in the future is how Marriott will address food quality when it becomes an all-inclusive. This is the major aspect to be seen, and the determinant as to whether this resort hotel can be even more phenomenal than it has been. I hope so, and best wishes. You are in walking distance to a Soriana supermarket, and more-extended walking distance (or quick taxi ride) to the Galleria Vallarta shopping mall and Walmart/Sam's Club next door. The Marina itself is great for walking - don't miss the live crocodile (but don't feed him!) and iguana...lots of restaurants (recommend D'z Route 66 Diner for American cuisines and Frankie's Italian). Also, not to be missed October through May on Thursday nights only is the Art & Market Marina Vallarta...the marina lines up with small booths selling everything from food items to handicrafts to tasty desserts and more...live performances there as well. Highly recommend.

be very careful of the buffet they charge you huge money for water
we enjoyed a beautiful turkey Thanksgiving dinner at the Marriott buffet but upon paying our bill we were charged 1000 pesos for water we think that that's a total total unnecessary expense wasn't even bottled water it was poured tapwater in logo bottles from the Marriott

The Marriott Surprised Us!
Are review of the Marriott is from an amazing experience so we hope we can help people with there choice. We arrived on the 16th and was surprised to learn that the room we reserved was not available. The staff member behind the desk was great and apologized with 2 free breakfasts for our family of 3. We had reserved 2 double beds with an ocean view but received 1 king non ocean front. It had a couch so it was ok for a few nights. The resort as you enter from the front is inviting , sleek and very clean. As you enter in the other portions of the hotel it feels more Mexican like with many amenities like a coffee shop, ice cream bar , general store , and nice lobby. There are good choices for restaurants and food, there is a swim up bar at the pool with lots of chairs. There are cabanas for rent , lots of beach space , and of course the Mexican vendors. Even though they have a policy not to reserve chairs unless your there that policy is not followed so we arrived early every day to get a good spot. I don’t think there is a bad spot to sit but there are some chairs more desirable. There are lots of umbrellas available. The food was amazing around the pool with a great menu to choose from. The live DJ was something we really enjoyed around the pool. The drinks are great too with a fairly large cup. The prices are good, average for most Mexican hotels. They use premium paper towel in the bathrooms which I noticed right away. Most hotels don’t use this kind of quality. The staff were awesome but we want to mention a few names that gave us even better service . Jose the Bellman was fantastic as he is so nice and pleasant to talk too. Hugo the pool waiter was amazing , friendly and super attentive. Raul the pool waiter loved giving us Spanish lessons even though he was busy. Hector the pool waiter was kind and attentive as well. Ernesto was another fast and very attentive worker around the pool. Carlos was always there when we needed him. Rosa the house keeper did an amazing job in our room. The activities people made our trip complete. Veronica Bibiana Blanca Marcela Flabia The hotel is clean but if I have anything to offer the management is that some of the amenities need updating , like the bathrooms near the pool. Things were loose , just a little run down looking. The main pool is missing quite of few tiles in certain areas , and the spa needs a little tlc in the hot tub , steam room, and sauna areas. While using the spa most other spas in Puerto Vallarta will offer better service like offer to bring you water or juice or offer cold cloths as you use the sauna or hot tubs. There is a staff member inside the change room at the front as you come in that is under utilized. He just sits there. One other thing I will mention is this hotel is super close to the airport and literally right down the street from the marina with lots of other food and shopping choices. All in all we loved this hotel and will be back in April.

This entire resort needs help. Not a good experience.
This is a difficult review to write because we came to this Marriott after four nights at a five star Michelin rated resort, the one and only Mandarina. Because of flight times we decided to stay one night in the city near the airport. Even if I hadn’t stayed at such a luxurious high-end resort prior to this, I would’ve been grossed out by this entire hotel.. First there was jackhammer construction going on for half the day we were there until almost 6 PM. Our room looked like it died in the 1970s. It smelled like moldy beach. There was absolutely zero luxury. Furniture was stained ripped torn. This is a resort for the most pedestrian people. It’s just a gigantic pool and party house for anyone who can pay a couple hundred bucks.. it was not peaceful. It was not pleasant. I very much disliked my experience here. I will say that we did eat a few things, and the food wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, and the prices were actually excellent compared to most hotels. Otherwise, this place felt like a motel six on the beach. We had used points from our father-in-law for this one and wished we could get them back. they upgraded our room to an ocean view, but it didn’t matter the balcony hardly fit two people, and the plastic furniture was like sitting on cement. I would never go back here. This property needs tons of improvement and has absolutely zero luxury.

Definitely a five star hotel except on a Demo day.
Location, beautiful pool area and service. We stayed at Marriott Marina for about a week. You are approximately 10 min max from the airport and walking distance about 10 minutes max to the Marina. So many restaurants to choose from, which does help with their closure of 2 main restaurants. Going into downtown Puerto Vallarta is about 20 minutes, not far, traffic is pretty busy but easy to Taxi or Uber. About $10. Would love to give 5 stars because this is a Great resort! Positives: our Costco booking, Panoramic King room, Good price. We really enjoyed the comfort and view from our room. Good bedding and towels, housekeeping very efficient. Love when they come early & quickly to attend to our room. Super friendly staff, especially by the pool. Thank you Javier and Jose. The pool area food was delicious and reasonable for a nice resort. Yum-o. This is a beautiful resort even though some reviews say it’s dated. No issues about our room & they really keep up the grounds which are very tropical and lush. Negatives: Demolition of a structure by the pool, which ended up lasting all afternoon for 4 days. Jack hammering and a large tractor were not good. Very loud and frustrating. If your trip is for relaxing please check with the hotel to see if there will be a major demo during your stay. I understand they are going to be All Inclusive in the next couple years. For now, love going to all of the restaurants available at the short walk to the Marina. Easy walk for anyone. Don’t let the 2 restaurant closures affect your stay. But Beware of a demo day. All in all we had a great time at the Marriott. Could have stayed longer but moving to Nuevo Vallarta north of Puerto Vallarta for a few weeks. Nice beginning to our vacation.
