Nice location but not so proactive staffs
Location is good. Staffs serving in bars and restaurants are also great. But all other staffs including housekeeping, reception and room services must be more proactive. Buffet restaurants had the same menu throughout my stay. Good restaurants like Tauro are booked for 3 consecutive days. Rooms are not stacked daily even to have regular housekeeping I needed to call and remind the operator. May be this is because of the season and employees were overwhelmed by the number of guests they had to serve. But that left a bad taste for me. If I plan to stay in Melia, I will go for Paradisus the next time as I heard better reviews there but will not visit Caribe again.

No thanks
Two of us got food poisoning from the Italian restaurant at the resort, which ruined the last 2 1/2 days of vacation (also the fact that we were afraid to eat much after that incident). Management couldn't care less. Upon checkout we were met with indifference, and were told the manager was away at a reunion so they could do nothing. The rooms were fine. The tv did not work, the remote was broken, the AC was temperamental. The pool area was so dirty I didn't want to walk with bare feet. The staff was friendly and warm, but left much to be desired. Definitely won't be back.

Beautiful landscape with lovely service! Looking forward to returning in the future
Booked a trip to the Dominican as a nice treat for the family (myself, wife, son), and it did not disappoint! The minute we arrived we were swiftly checked in and by our pleasant surprise were given a concierge to assist with this. We were checked in within a matter of minutes, and then were shown to our room by one of the many brilliant concierge team. The rooms were lovely! We had a ground floor deluxe with a lovely patio that overlooked a stunning temple (believe it has a proper name as opposed to just temple). Room was well equipped, and everything (including the mini bar) refreshed daily. The beach is stunning! Imagine the white sands you see in movies, and the sun beaming everyday, it was truly incredible. Our little boy loved the splash zone, which was closer to the beach end of the resort whereas our room was closer to the reception area, but there were regular shuttle trains to transport multiple guests to and from the beach. Just make sure you get the correct coloured one, or you’ll take a slight detour through the adults only section of the resort (not an issue, but adds a couple of minutes to your journey and has different drop off points). The restaurants were okay. Nothing really amazing to write home about, with the majority of the food being quite basic. Our go to choices were either Merkado & what was a fabulous Spanish restaurant called Alma. The other options either left us feeling hungry after (meaning we’d go to Merkado) or the options were very limited and actually poorly cooked at times. Make sure upon arrival to book for restaurants other than Merkado, otherwise your options will be even further limited! You can get menus etc sent to you by a concierge through WhatsApp. All in all, we paid around £6k including the cost of transfers/visa etc, all inclusive for a week, and feel we got our moneys worth. Definitely make sure to check out the evening entertainment as it is varied, and certainly can be good fun (as our son found out when the circus made him participate). The only one piece of constructive feedback would be that the room refreshes need to be done earlier in the day and quicker. We would leave our room at 9am some mornings, coming back at around 2pm to find our room had still not been refreshed, meaning we had no drinking water in our minibar (can’t drink the tap water here), so then when we contacted our concierge to be told it’ll be with us immediately, it somehow took 45 minutes to arrive, at which point I’d already been to the nearby bar by reception to get some for us all (not ideal in 35 degree heat). We definitely will return one day for certain!!
