Disappointing Experience at Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve, Puerto Rico – Not Returning
Our experience started on the wrong foot at check-in. Traveling with a 6-month-old infant, we were assigned a first-floor room in a building with no elevators. Carrying a stroller up and down the stairs multiple times a day was frustrating and thoughtless on the hotel’s part. We were given complimentary drink cards at check-in—great, right? Not really. When we tried to redeem them at the bar, we found out only three basic drinks were covered. There was no mention of these limitations on the card itself. If you’re going to offer a perk, at least be transparent about what it includes. Bicycle rentals are advertised as “free for one hour,” but the staff member explaining the rules was rude and accusatory. We hadn’t even used the bikes yet, and were told we’d be charged for violating rules we hadn’t broken. It felt less like a resort perk and more like being scolded like a 6-year-old for enjoying something “too much.” The restaurants on the property were okay, but heavily overpriced. After paying a steep nightly rate, we didn’t expect dinner to cost extra on top of that. We had a reservation for breakfast at Water’s Edge, but still had to wait in line with no priority. What’s the point of a reservation if it doesn’t offer timely seating? Pros: • The property is beautiful and well-maintained. • The breakfast was delicious and worth the cost. • The rooms were clean and spacious, and the view from our room was breathtaking. • Though rooms lacked a microwave, one was provided on request to heat food for our baby. Overall: For the price we paid, we expected thoughtful service, better communication, and an overall relaxing experience. Unfortunately, basic common sense and hospitality were lacking. We left feeling disappointed and won’t be returning.

Do Not Visit - Find a resort that cares, this place doesn’t.
Travel from Brooklyn, New York April 2025. Service was awful and below expectations for a 5 star resort. See example below: Irresponsible with Luggage: Took my luggage upon arrival and did not provide a luggage tag. When I tried to retrieve my luggage i had no way of validating I owned my luggage. I had to go to the back room to find it. Embarrassed at breakfast: I sat for a while waiting for my bill. I got tired of waiting and asked the manger for the bill, he then took me to the middle of the restaurant and proceeded to lecture me surrounded by servers…for just asking for the bill. Entered my room when asked not to: I asked house keeping to not clean the room because the safety deposit box was broken, they did anyway. Overpriced and taking advantage. Part 1: The cost for (2) 12oz cokes was 8.48 - enough said. Overpriced and taking advantage. Part 2: I bought a bottle of wine, got back to the hotel room and noticed there was no wine opener - called the front desk. They charge 3 dollars for a wine opener. Overpriced and taking advantage. Part 3: The majority of the staff is not friendly, slow and could care less if you are there. They add 16% gratuity to all checks so there is no incentive - do yourself a favor and find a hotel that acts like they want your business. Unable to get a restaurant reservation: When secured one the acted like it didn’t exist. Tracked down for a signature: The waiter from breakfast hunted me down because my husband did not sign the bill. Apparently i am not able to sign bills despite being on the reservation. Avoiding my phone calls: Tried on multiple occasions to get help for all of these problems and they avoided me. Still have 1 more day….

Beautiful resort
My husband and I stayed here as our "minimoon" and it really exceeded our expectations. Everything was phenomenal. The drinks and food were delicious, the staff was incredibly friendly and kind, and the resort is gorgeous. There were so many kids, but I know that the resort is not responsible for this but just thought we should share!

Great resort and service
We stayed a couple of nights at Hyatt Grand Reserve last week and had a great time. The resort is quite large and they have golf carts to shuttle you around as needed. My wife and I used that service a few times and the people could not have been nicer. There is also a golf course and spa on onsite and both are top notch. The restaurants are very good. I will cation you to MAKE RESERVATIONS for dinner Since it is a large resort there is limited seating for that many people. We saw many people turned away just walking up. They have a quick service market for those that don’t plan ahead. We ate at both Water’s Edge and Nori. Both are very good. The pool is quite large but still not large enough for that many people . There is also the issue of people saving chairs that never arrive , or arrive hours later. The staff , however, seemed to be responsive to this issue. If you are golfing , there is a discount for those staying at resort. Even though it is on site , it is quite a distance from the hotel. The course will pick you up and drop you off back at hotel. It was a nice stay and glad we were able to experience it.

Terrible experience
This was a terrible experience from the beginning. I've stayed at resorts in many countries around the world and some were good and some were great. This experience overall was terrible. Upon check in they did not have the ocean view room that I had booked and paid for. It took a long time to get straight but they finally put me in a room that was fine and gave me a 150.00 resort credit. However, on checkout, they did not have a note in the system and I had to argue with them until a manager finally approved it. However, the resort was very crowded and the staff indifferent at best. There were small mistakes at almost every turn which, one would not have been a big deal but they were constant. Housekeeping one day cleaned the room and took all of the towels but did not leave any. It was late when we got back from an excursion and it took awhile to get them. Another time they took the towels and left two in the bathroom and three on the couch like they were watching TV or something and forgot. They have a mandatory tip in the coffee shop for someone behind the counter to hand you a drink. They don't serve you. The last day I asked for a late checkout because we did not leave until 2 and they told us we could stay until 1 but it would be 50.00 an hour past that. I thanked him for approving it until 1 and we walked around the resort until 2. When I went to get a copy of the bill, they charged us 50.00. I argued that we were only in the room until 1 which had been approved but then the person stated that all late checkouts were 50.00. I would have paid the money if I had been told that originally but the staff at this resort generally care less. I ended up having to pay the 50.00 because I was tired of this resort and arguing. These are only a few of the constant problems we encountered. The hibachi restaurant was the only pleasant experience other than it costing 350.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids. But I expect high prices at good resorts. This, however, is not a good resort. Do yourself a favor and stay the Conquistador. We stayed there in the past and it was great.
