Feb 28, 2025Great location, but a few things lacking
Stayed for a week at Melia Costa Del Sol in Torremolinos outside Malaga. The location of the hotel is great, just across the road from the beach with a panoramic view of the sea. We stayed in a suite which was one bedroom and one living room with a fold out couch. The room was nice and clean, the staff were friendly and the food was pretty good. We had some problems with some noisy neighbors next door. The walls are paper thin and we could hear everything. When we raised this issue with the front desk we were offered an upgraded room for extra charge. On the last day we were finally offered a better room. Good shampoos and body wash from Rituals in the room, but bring your own hair dryer as they only have tiny, barely functioning ones at the hotel. All in all a nice stay, but would expect more for the money.

Will be lovely once building work ends
I booked this holiday as a solo traveller. I have never done a solo holiday before but as my partner can no longer travel I wanted to see if travelling solo was something I could do. I chose the Melia as it is a large hotel on the sea front and close to the town centre . I booked half board as I was not comfortable going out at night. Jet 2 did advise there was some renovations taking place in Block 2 on the 10th floor . Please note: Rooms on the 10th floor of the “Level” building at the Melia Costa Del Sol are to be refurbished. The hotel will place Jet2holidays customers in the main building away from these works. There may be visual evidence of these works taking place and there may be some mild noise disturbance. Work may take place intermittently; however, the hours of work are anticipated to be between 08:00 and 18:00, daily. This is somewhat of an understatement the whole block is being renovated approx 250 rooms . The noise of vehicles , drills, saws, shouting, and music goes on all day from 7 am to 7 pm . The room was comfortable with a sunny balcony which i appreciated but the building noise was constant . Breakfast and dinner were good with lots of choice and the staff were very efficient . I did look out for anyone else travelling solo but never saw anyone . I did go to the bar before dinner but it was almost empty and for the last few nights the noisy group of men at the bar felt intimidating . The roof terrace on the top of block 1 is lovely plenty of chairs and no problem getting a sunbed , however there is constant loud ‘musak’ with a boom boom beat which was very distracting if you wanted to read or sleep it was impossible get getaway from it. A number of us did ask for it to be turned down or even off for a period of time but nothing happened . The pool area between the building had all the noise from the building work. Had I travelled with a partner I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel once the building work is completed however travelling solo was another experience . Would I do a holiday like this again on my own , probably not , but that is no fault of the hotel , for couples it will be excellent once the building work is complete

I have to say this is the first hotel which I don't have anything negative to say. It's a very nice hotel with good service, however the rooms are standard unless you upgrade to the Level. Great location on the strip to some local shops and the beach is just across the road. The metro is also not far to go to the old town. Just a note if you do use the beach across the road the side that is connected to the hotel, you do have to pay for the sun loungers, which I did find a little disappointing. I used the indoor heated salt pool in the spa which was so relaxing. Overall a lovely stay for a short break.

What a beautiful hotel. Very modern without being boring. Unique lighting fixtures throughout public areas. Attentive staff. Excellent food in buffet restaurant. Outstanding views from rooms. Comfortable beds. Will definitely return. This a 4 star + hotel.

Excellent Hotel in great location
I am writing a review before we go 28th Feb. Why, because I’ve just realised I went same time same dates last year and don’t think I left a review. That was an injustice to this hotel. We stayed for 3 weeks and everything was enjoyable. The hotel is immaculate and the food was outstanding. All the staff were very friendly and professional. We hadn’t returned home for long before we booked our revisit this year. Reading up to date reviews reflect our experience from last year and have started to count down the days. We are lucky enough to be able to return for another three weeks. This is our main holiday before it gets too hot and cannot wait we know we will be well looked after
