Apr 16, 2025Great Staff/Urine Smell was Crazy!
It's my second stay at the hotel as we are returning business travellers. I'd like to strt with a positive word: The "Level" staff is exceptional – friendly, fast and really attending to their customers. I'd give them 6 points if I could. The "Level" lounge is a great place to eat, relay and work. Well done! However, the quality of the rest of the hotel is highly questionable and some of it is absolutely gross: I was moved from the "Level" room on 7th to the 9th floor as the room next to mine was literally taken apart by heavy tools (drilling, sawing, plumbing) from 8:30 in the morning to late in the afternoon. Being an air crew we tend to get all the sleep we can get through the day before longe duties, so we really appreciate quiet rooms. The "spot work" as the front desk (who first claimed they were unaware) turned out to be a full-scale renovation of multiple rooms next to ours. The room on the 9th floor was much quieter but had such a bad Urine smell that I slept with the window open. You could basically smell it in the hallways. I am talking "train-station-at-3am-on-a-Saturday night" smell. I noticed that another customer here left a similar comment during the same period of stay for the same floor, so there was something going on. On the 1st night in the new room I had a knock on the door at 22:15 pm from a house technician who checked something in the toilet/bathroom and then disappeared. I figured the hotel was on it (he didn't speak more than a few words of English) and fell asleep. On the second night the smell was better but still quite noticeable but not wanting to move a second time (and dragging my entire life through the hote) I kind of went with it. The third night the stench/smell was worse than ever before. I felt like I was sleeping in a toilet. Bonus Issue: On Monday I booked a massage appointment for 4 pm on Wednesday (which was one of the few remaining slots) – which was cancelled at Wednesday a few hours before the appointment for unknown "problems" at the spa. If they were connected to the hotel's plumbing in any way I made have gotten the easy way out. The location is good, so is the bar/restraurant on the opposite side of the road and the "Level" loung and its staff. But the hotel seems to suffer major sanitary/plumbing issues and to conduct major work on multiple room renovations during the beginning of the high seaoson is "interesting" to say the least.

Apr 16, 2025Bad start but a great stay in the end
Our 5-night stay at Meliá Costa del Sol began with serious technical issues with a strong sewer smell in the room and a urine smell in the bathroom in two different rooms on the 9th floor and unprofessional very passive aggressive treatment from the customer service manager at extension 700. However, thanks to the excellent support of José Miguel Cáceres (front desk manager), and the kindness of Andres and Carmen at reception, our experience turned around completely. They really showed up for us in difficult times. We were upgraded to a beautiful sea view suite and ended up having a wonderful stay. The rooftop areas and Level Lounge are fantastic, and the hotel is in a perfect beachfront location. Despite the initial hiccups, we’ll definitely return — thanks to the great service from José Miguel Cáceres and most of the staff.

Enjoyed our visit
We really enjoyed our stay at the Melia Costa del Sol. We had a deluxe sea view room on the 9th floor. Lifts, while small, were quick to arrive each time. The room was spacious, with plenty of wardrobe space. Small set of drawers tucked into the wardrobe. Plenty of plugs sockets in the room with USB sockets on one side of the bed. Free safe to use in the room. Fridge, kettle etc in the room. Items in the fridge are chargeable. Our balcony had 2 chairs and a small table. TV with hotel info. Our only criticism is there were no English channels. Plenty of Spanish, French, German and Arabic. A BBC news channel even, would have been good. Considering the amount of British people that were there, I am surprised. The bathroom was spacious with a great shower (rain shower and a normal shower to choose from). The toiletries were pleasant (we tried them), with hand gel, body lotion, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Bath towels were huge. We were only on a B&B basis but the breakfasts were amazing. From cooked British breakfasts to the omelette station, pastries, pancakes, fruit, meats, cheeses, breads. Hot drinks, juices and cava each day. We used the adult only terrace with the bar and adult only pool. We had a day bed for only spending €25 on food/drinks at the bar. We had amazing views across the bay. Well worth doing. The hotel is close to the old town either many lovely tapas bars/restaurants but up lots of steps for those with ability issues (same with resort centre). There are lifts during certain times of the day from behind the hotel. We spent a morning on the hotel’s beach. Beds were €9 each. Very comfortable sun beds. Whilst the hotel is not adult only, we saw very few children. With the adult only area, it felt like an adult only hotel. Great for those that work with children on a daily basis.

Staying at this Hotel. Spotless in all areas. Food very good. Room very good too, Balcony not huge but lovely view. Entertainment very good so far, especially IL Divo Tribute. Special 👏 to Tamara in sky & sea absolutely outstanding, friendly, helpful, kind . 👏 to Francisco in Bar Friendly and helpful too.

Marvellous Melia Hotel Torremolinos
Great location gate at bottom of terrace takes you on to the promenade where you can walk for miles. clean, pleasant helpful staff, good food , would definitely recommend. Our balcony had a lovely view of Malaga and the mountains and looked on to the sea. Didn't get the sun but that means in the very hot weather it would be nice and cool. If you wanted a sunny balcony you would ask for a pool view. Our rooms were cleaned daily fresh towels by lovely cleaning ladies.
