The staff makes this resort!
The resort was clean, and the room was well appointed. The pool was very cold, but if you can stay in the water long enough, you get used to it. The food was just average. Jorge Michael in the buffet was amazing. He made us feel special every day! Alphonso Jimenez in the LEVEL office was super, booked our meal reservations, and was flexible when we changed our plans. The entire staff was very friendly!

Wonderful Stay at Melia
Our family of 4 (2 adults, 2 kids aged 12 and 11) stayed here for 8 days the first full week of November. I spent considerable time reading a ton of reviews prior to us arriving. I don’t know what the “bad” reviews are talking about. This place was awesome! We are not bougie travelers, so maybe that’s why the things that others complained about had no effect on us. The room was clean, the staff was wonderful, the food was fine. We did not visit the adult pool just because we had our kids, but we frequented the family pool daily, which was also clean. We never had any problems getting seating at the pool or the beach. November is a shoulder season so maybe it wasn’t as crowded then as it is during peak season. The beach was beautiful! We did not swim in the ocean here (others were, we just preferred the pool). There was only one day the beach had an influx of sargassum that was not raked but every other day we were there, the beach was raked. We got the level package and stayed in the tower on the 8th floor. The view was incredible from our room. It was quiet, we all slept great. Our TV didn’t work, it was probably the batteries in the remote, but we never said anything because we didn’t really spend that much time in the room. My daughter and I did a massage at the spa, and our family did the photo package they walk around offering. Both experiences were great. We plan on using the photos for our holiday cards this year. My “Karen” complaint, if you will: the shower. There is a rainfall shower head and the water pressure is not great. I would rather have a regular wall mounted shower head with better water pressure than the rainfall shower head. I never felt like I ever really got the shampoo out of my hair. Overall, if you’ve read the bad reviews, ignore them. This place was great and we would stay here again.

Our stay at Melia
My wife and I were craving somewhere tropical to visit and we came across Melia in Cozumel. We could not have been more happy to have chosen this resort and location all together. The staff at Melia (especially Eduardo of the dining center, Rene who helped us with sight seeing, and of course our bartender/mixologist Felipe) were so personable to us and were familiar faces throughout our stay. All of the staff here made us feel welcomed and at our home away from home. We loved experiencing the island, learning about the Mayan culture, and relaxing at the beach at our resort. The resort was very clean and well maintained and the food was excellent. Thank you Melia!

Amazing Stay so FAR
I wanted to write this review while still at Melia as I am so impressed with everything. Yes, it's an older resort but the layout, amenities and the staff. We booked The Level and the concierge are so attentive. Alfonso Jimenez is the greatest. He makes sure everything is going great and helped us with an amazing upgrade to the penthouse. He explained everything in detail on arrival and continues to make our day! If he is busy his coworker Hector has helped us out and answered some questions about getting to a marina for diving. One little mishap was the Nespresso not working, they immediately had replaced within minutes. Husband loves his morning coffee. The wait staff on the beach are amazing, serving and making our drinks. We have been to Cozumel many times, never to Melia but this will be our go to.

Best stay yet
This was our 4th stay and I have to say probably our best. It was not the greatest back in April that I believed was a management issue, but I didn't want to write the place off yet. It made such a turnaround in my opinion. The real gems are ALL the staff, so kind and helpful everywhere. A few to mention that I was able to remember their names, Santos in the lobby bar, Martin and Gilberto our waiters Filipe at the beach bar, Diego and Geraldo at the bali bed hut, and finally there was an elder gentlemen in the buffet, I cannot remember his name but he was so kind and sweet. Again every staff member we encountered was fantastic. We always found a decent meal, no complaints about the food. We loved the fish house menu and the snack bar. The buffet was quite impressive for low season, great ceviche's at lunch. My only suggestion is to have some deli meats and cheeses out at lunch in addition to the breakfast buffet. We plan to continue to return as you can't beat the hospitality, location and the beach.
