Jan 21, 2025All inclusive trip at Cancun
We had a wonderful family get together in Cancun, at Occidental. The staff was great and attentive while the property had everything to keep your family entertained. Definitely recommended and would be coming again soon.

Our second visit! The server staff in the buffet and a late carte restaurants are excellent. Vanilly, Carlos and Guadalupe are always anticipating your needs and take excellent care of you. Food is great at buffet and restaurants Front desk staff like Esmerelda and Luis are great. We had an issue where my son wet the bed and there was going to be a hefty charge but after pleading my case that it was not a staining fluid like blood he saw my point and tore up the charges. Henry De Leon is an awesome bartender Over all a smaller resort that’s great for young kids!

There are 2 Occidental hotels in the hotel zone. One has a beach where you can walk for miles and has crashing waves to play in. The other one has 50 feet of beach, is land locked on both sides, has a view of a shipping lane, has 2.5 feet of calm water roped off so you can’t venture too far into the shipping lane. If you book the wrong one, too bad, too sad. Occidental Costa is the no beach hotel. To be fair if you don’t like to walk or swim this hotel is fine. They have very nice employees, but the employees are helpless to help you change your reservation to the other hotel. I was prepared to pay for the other hotel and still couldn’t get help. You are not allowed to actually talk to a person who could help you, you must email them, and then wait for the non-existing response. They got your money, the shareholders are happy, so who cares. The food was OK if it was local fair, but horrendous when it came to "USA fair." DON'T eat the brussels sprouts unless you enjoy spitting food back on your plate. They tasted like they had travelled a long way and had aged toward compost. They did have tripe soup which was surprisingly good, cactus also good, and they can stew a chicken right. I truly hate giving this hotel chain a bad review. I have stayed with them multiple times and like the international flavor of the quests. They had fun activities that helped you meet your fellow vacationers, and they had live music. But I came all this way for the beach and that was most important to me. So I enjoyed the beach at the Marriot which I paid additionally for and came back to this hotel to eat occasionally during my stay. Also do not pay in advance for shuttles. They end up being more expensive and time consuming then a taxis. A taxis is per ride not per person and you don't have to leave your hotel 5 hours before your flight and so they can stop at multiple hotels and pick up other people.

My Birthday Vacation
We had an amazing time at the Occidental Costa. The customer service was amazing, the food was great and entertainment was such fun. There were so many that I want to thank and sorry if I missed anyone. First off, Sheyla Solis reception manager was amazing she had stellar customer service and was very professional and kind. Vanilly at the buffet was such fun for breakfast, and Anaitl provided lots of fun entertainment. I will be referring my clients to Occidental Costa Cancun, as it was a smaller resort, which felt like family. Thank you for the birthday cake, 🎂 beautiful stuffed animal and dedication. Thank you for your hospitality and we will be back ❤️

Family Vacation at Occidental
Great family trip. Hotel and amenities were great. Food was great and lots of variety. Staff was outstanding.
