Rough resort, the villas are in disrepair. The pool looks like it should be shut down, missing tiles everywhere. The boardwalk is totally rotten & could fall over at any moment. The beach is GONE!(Don’t fall for the old photos. The waves now crash against the lunch buffet restaurant.) Most of the staff seem nice but stuff like not getting coffee at breakfast & when you do get coffee no spoons was a daily occurrence. It feels like there’s very little capital investment going into this place. They’re probably just keeping it open until they tear it down for a new resort. Don’t waste your hard earned money here.

This was our 5th stay at Occidental. Very good every time. Nice quiet pleasant place to vacation!! Good value in my opinion.

dinner at Occidental Coral &overal review
Staff are professional, friendly and attentive; food is solid and attention to detail is very apparent, especially with reserved dining restaurants. Beautiful locale --you can watch the sunset in open air dining. Resort is beautiful and well cared for. Staff are diligent, top notch and hard working. Snorkeling off of beach is excellent.

Our waitress Zuemy was the best… sometimes other waiters forgot or took a long while for beverages or coffee at Buffet. The greeters were nice as well.. Ivis was a great bartender Sad that there were no Kayaks or SUPs… hard to get info on things… kept on being referred to 2 pp at front desk and they were always busy always working hard. Resort is beautiful, pool was great
