Jan 22, 2025Overall experience at Occidental Resort has been excellent.
Fabulous experiences at La Carreta restaurant. Claudia, Jasmine and Armondo worked so well together and their attention to detail made our experience first rate. They were all so pleasant and made us feel like family. They were quick to explain any questions we had about the menu and even offered information about places to see on the island. We have spent more dining time at La Carreta than any other restaurant as we have so much enjoyed time spent with Claudia, Jasmine and Armondo. And the food has been excellent also.

We Love the Intimacy and Mexican Vibe of the Occidental!
We love the Occidental and have been here a few times because my partner is a diver and the snorkelling is pretty amazing right in front of the hotel. We also love how quaint this resort is with hacienda style buildings that are secluded in the jungle. Lots of privacy, with a quiet adult pool and beautiful gardens. The rooms are very clean as is the entire resort. The rooms are very spacious, the beds extremely comfortable and the AC can blow very cold! There are 3 a la carte restaurants and 2 buffets. We are both foodies and find that the food is very good especially the Mexican choices that are always available. The main dinner buffet often has theme nights such as, Asian, Italian, Caribbean, etc. so it’s never boring. The resort is also one of the last heading south out of St. Miguel so not impacted by day use cruise ship people. If you’re looking to relax in a quiet Mexican vibe with good food, this is the place for you!

Dive dine and party
What a great dive trip I came here with Columbus scuba. Met the wonderful dive master Armon (Carlos). The wait staff at the restaurants on sight were great especially Crisly, Rosanio, and Karrena. Now the coffee I got at lunch was very strong ( the way I like it) but that is how Shany makes it. Great time great people will do again

Amazing service
I went on this trip with my now fiancée. We stayed here 7 days and it was beautiful. The resort has lots of beautiful buildings and even better walking paths. The grounds are well kept and easy to get around. There is plenty of space on the beach, not as easy to get lounge chairs poolside. The service here was amazing. Our room was cleaned everyday with fresh towels. Staff went out of their way to make our engagement special. We frequently went to the lobby bar solely to speak to two very kind bartenders. Zuleima and Adriana helped us work on our spanish while also serving us amazing drinks. They quickly learned what we liked and introduced us to many more cocktails we loved. Highly recommend taking time out of your trip to meet these wonderful, hardworking women :)

Beautiful resort. Relaxing. Great staff
We have stayed here multiple times. Special shout out to the staff. Especially Mila and Jesus who do activities at the pool. They make everyday fun and really do a good job with kids.
