THIS IS NOT A 5 STARS HOTEL
this hotel is qualified as 5 stars but it is TERRIBLE!! The chrck in took about 45 minutes. The quality of food and drinks its very low that's not a 5 starts hotel food. I needed to pay an extra package to have access to premium drinks. My room's AC was broken during 2 days!!!! The room service came wrong twice!! The celling started to felt down. The discotec its very poor with low quality drinks. Everything is low, also the service from most of the employees. Upon i sent couple of emails i never heard back. I dont want to receive apologies I want a refund of at least a percentage of my stay

I had high hopes
I had high hopes for this resort since I had stayed at Barcelo Bavaro in the past. Unfortunately my expectation fell short on day 1. Food was consistently cold in almost every restaurant, the only time I could get a hot meal was at the snack bars and that was only due to the fact that they made such small amounts at a time. Most days the Staff acted as if they were tolerating you; and the ones that were nice were just trying to sell you a timeshare. if you go to the beach get ready to say no thank you to a hawker every 20 minutes. The pools are very shallow and only one pool bar in the main pool. This is supposed to be a 5 star resort and it is not. 2.5 at best. The Property has potential but they don't maintain it well, the bathrooms were moldy in the room, The air conditioning worked only sometimes (they changed my room and the second one was only slightly better) and the room I originally got was dirty when I walked in. When you take an even closer look around you can see the patio doors don't lock properly, the fixtures are corroded, and rusted, the ceiling fan squeaks so you can't fall asleep and there are ants in the room, even the key card holder is coming off the wall. I tolerated the situation cause I was there for 10 days but I have stayed in much nicer resorts and I likely will never stay at a Barcelo resort again. this was disappointing.

Disappointing
I’m writing this with you while still at the resort struggling to find a good Wi-Fi reception. So yes, this is the first complaint: Wi-Fi is very spotty. Present in all the certain areas like lobby, buffet restaurant, only small part of the beach - closest to the and farthest from the water. My Claro (local cellular service company) SIM card are giving only 3G service as well, which is as good as no service at all. Next, towel service at the beach: could get a towel for over an hour. Came three times every time it was sold they don’t have towels and I should come back 20 minutes later. The beach is crowded and if you didn’t get a your beach chair early in the morning you’re out of luck. Third: low lights to get a drink I will touch a picture. The concept of the following inclusive beats a purpose if you have to stand online like this to get a drink. Most of the staff I spoke with do not or speak very poorly. It feels that this Resort no longer caters to Americans or more. Generally, English speaking people. Practically all the guests in the resort, always speaking Spanish.
