Not our cup of tea
We came from Barcelo Maya Colonial one week ago. What a mistake that was. About same weekly price for AI for both resorts. We thought that Cancun is more nicer than the other. Sure long beach stretch looks great with turquoise water. Once we went to test swim and investigated the corals and stones in the water. There was corals not crazy much but reef walker shoes are must. Waves were also pretty high and for senior travelers too rough. End of the week tropical storm generated eve bigger waves and red flags were shoving dangers in the water. We booked room in Premium level facing the sea. First 3 night air-con work fine, but after that we feel at night like staying in Turkish sauna. Technical staff try to fix malfunction, but no success. Only solution was to change room. They offered similar room from the old side. Air control worked well and it was cool night's except the noice of the machine was loud. 3 different speed was available and I try to put it slow mode. Nothing changed all 3 position = same loud sound. Technical guy came to evaluate the situation and he's response was "No can do". We closed the air-con and used fan and it helps a bit. If it is raining like in our visit outer walkway was wet and stone floor seriously slippery. We hold hand railings all the time and walked like old penguins slowly. Too fast walking quarantined for sure meeting the wet stone floor in close distance. Try to get your room in the middle of the resort if possible. More up means more wind noise's but better views and don't leave any clothes over night in the balcony, they might learn to fly in the night. Food servings in buffet or a'la carte restaurants are just average, nothing special. Next possible visit in Cancun area is not in Cancun, but Maya Beach but still Barcelo branded. We can't splurge resorts with 500 USD per night so we can't comment how much better food experience you will get.

No air conditioning
Room had no air conditioning, AC could not be fixed, and it took four days get a new room. Heard other guests having same problem. If you have AC, the beach, pools, food, and location would be wonderful. Avoid the aggressive "membership" sales person.

The stay was Great.
The stay was great and very affordable. The check in process took awhile with the line but the staff brought us drinks while we waited. Daniel at the front restaurant reservation area was so helpful and kind. The food in the buffet was very good and had lots of options. The room was always kept clean and the mini bar was always restocked daily.

Great location but rooms could improve.
The customer service at this hotel was exceptional. The buffet service was of the highest quality and truly remarkable. While some of the restaurant food was excellent, others were merely satisfactory. The rooms, however, require improvement. The pillows were old and lacked support, and the mattress was excessively soft for my preference. On a positive note, the beach is stunning and conveniently located just below the hotel.

One of the highlights was the beautiful beach, with clear turquoise waters and plenty of loungers. We also took part in.
Noelia nos enseńo todo los mejores lugares para Tomar y para comer! I recently stayed at the Occidental Tucancún and had an incredible experience. The hotel is beautifully located on a stunning stretch of beach, offering breathtaking views of the Caribbean. From the moment we arrived, the staff was friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. The check-in process was smooth, and our room was spacious, clean, and well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay
