Privilege: Worth the Upgrade, especially for families
Booked this trip fairly last-minute and the only options were Privilege rooms, and in end, we felt that was worth it. This perk provides you the services of a butler who books you reservations to the restaurants (we watched some have over an hour wait), spa services (discounted for privileged members), roped off beach cabanas/private beach area, roped off pool lounges closest to the beach, and a gorgeous spot to have breakfast and lunch with a beautiful view of the ocean. There is also a Privilege Lounge in that same building that has a concierge who can help with all of your needs, and where you can grab snacks. We had the Privilege Junior Suite Pool View, and it was gorgeous! The beds were very comfortable, and it came with a large bathtub, which each kid (age 10 and 7) loved soaking in at the end of the day. If you have children, make sure to request children’s bathrobes (adorable, and made the kids feel part of the fun). We had two queen beds and utilized the pullout sofa for our son, which worked out great. He said it was very comfortable. The pool shuts down in the evenings, so no need to worry about late night partying. It gets quiet and peaceful pretty early around the pool area. One night they have a beach party with a fire show, which is awesome! Don’t miss that event. Our butler was Wolgang, and he checked in with us every morning via WhatsApp if we didn’t message him first. It was very easy to communicate with him throughout the day for anything we needed, as simple as getting the kids robes or something more complicated with the room. He handled everything and was incredible. We celebrated my birthday while we were there and he decorated the room with balloons, was around to sing happy birthday. He was so kind. He found us around the property at random times just to say hello and check in. We were very grateful to have him during our stay. Loved staying at this resort and highly recommend the privilege services, especially if you have kids. The dinner reservations are clutch so that you don’t have to wait in lines. When you’re checking in, ask if you can request for Wolgang. He’s truly the best.

TUI ceveat emtor
I booked this with Thomas Cook (which are owned by TUI in believe). I put a lot of trust in them and they let me down, let me count the ways- When booking it was not made clear the resort operates a privilege scheme. This means you get some additional perks, not for every one but it did include use of the beach restaurant at night which is exclude for others. I would have paid the extra for this perk alone. At the time of booking I was not offered any preferred seating. I thought it odd but went along until the on line check in which was dine through TUI. Only then did it ask about seating by which time there were no seats together, As a couple we prefer this especially on a long flight. I was not happy about this. At booking it also overlooked transfers so when we arrives at Punta Cana the TUI rep had no reference of us. We took a taxi! It is not the 40 Bucks that is cost it was the abandonment of the TUI rep and the apprehension of the unknown. At the hotel; they did not expect us at the normal greet point, no rep, no nothin'. The hotel reception deck were OK but then we were on our own. There was no welcoming meeting no explanation of the facilities, it was a case of suck it and see. The next day we went to find a Thomas Cook rep, there was no such beast. We would have to deal with the TUI rep, this was a completely useless exercise, a total waste of time and effort, it became clear did not give a monkeys! More on the rep later. The resort was good here are a few observations; You can only book 2 of the al a carte restaurants, the steak house and the Chinese, you can book the beach restaurant if you are privileged. We tried the steak house once, not impressed. If you want to book an al a Carte I suggest you try at 0800 to avoid disappointment. However Route 66 had a very good burger, the Italian was good and likewise the French, these are a first come first served so turn up at 1800 and book your slot to make sure. The 2 buffet halls are very good, we ate in these most of the time, the staff are very polite and professional, please treat them with respect as this is often missing in other guests. Sun beds are universal, nothing more to say. Lots of entertainment, very enthusiastically preformed and the piano bar is a nice retreat We would come back to this resort in a heartbeat but with a different tour operator. Back to the TUI rep. They have NFI (work that out yourself). We went back to them in an endeavor to sort out a transfer. Told to come another day, they were a no show. Another rep told us to come back the day before departure date, really! We decided to book a taxi and waste no more time on TUI. Check out was very straight forward and the Bellboy was more capable in 5 minutes than the TUI rep and been at all. The bellboy took us back to reception booked us a taxi, told us the cost (universal 40 bucks) and we sat down with a drink and relaxed. So all in all Hotel good but TUI/Thomas Cook crap I hope this honest reflection helps

Great Stay at Ocean Blue & Sand Resort
We spent 12 nights at Ocean Blue & Sand Resort and had a wonderful experience overall. Although we had an issue with our room on the first night due to the hotel being full, the staff moved us to a newly refurbished room the next day, which was well-equipped and comfortable. The all-inclusive package was fantastic, with delicious food and a variety of options. The staff were friendly and attentive, making our stay even more enjoyable. A great resort for a relaxing getaway!
