Not a resort.
Nestled between two landmark hotels - Moana and Grand Hawaiian, OUTRIGGER, Waikiki Beach Resort is centrally situated and has direct access to the beach. It also offers beachfront dining with evening live music and decent, albeit overpriced, food and beverage options. Although Outrigger Waikiki Beach claims to be a 4-star resort, it's more of an average 3-star hotel with limited amenities, basic rooms, and average service. Even though there's a $50 resort fee per night, the property offers hardly any amenities for guests. "Resort" fee does not include any beach umbrellas or chairs, despite the "resort"'s beachfront location. Beach chairs and umbrellas are very limited and expensive to rent. Our entire Expedia VIP credit went towards beach chairs and umbrellas that were not included and charged extra every hour. There were some loungers by the small pool, but not enough to accommodate the majority of hotel guests. The beach staff (rentals) were rather rude and irritating. There was not a single guest bathroom in the beach/pool area. (The closest toilet was inside Duke's restaurant) The pool area was overcrowded. The only resort "perks" were: flask, beach cloth bag, and unlimited pool towels. Waikiki Beach is quite narrow, so there was not a lot of real estate. The water was calm and turquoise with a few gentle afternoon waves. Wonderful panoramic view of Diamond Head from the shore. Our balcony was facing the construction area, and we heard jack hammer daily beginning at 9:00 AM. At night, street entertainers blasted loud music until midnight. The partial ocean view was OK, though the side balconies were on a smaller side. The room was a bit dated but clean and well-maintained. The bathroom was very cramped and had a strange set-up. The fridge was under the sink with barely enough space to open/close it. The shower area was also awkward. There was a small square basin instead of a bathtub in the shower. The shower was in the same room as the toilet. Poor selection of toiletries. Overall, good but overpriced accommodation with somewhat disappointing amenities and not always accommodating staff. Great location for entertainment, shopping, and dining. However, in retrospect, I wish we had stayed in a historic Moana or elegant Grand Hawaiian.

Amazing hotel
Best location! You’re in the center of Waikiki so there a unlimited food options and right behind is the beach. We walked into the waters at 5 AM and stayed to catch the sunrise. The staff were all very friendly and rooms were clean. Would definitely go back!

Outrigger Delivers
Excellent Aloha service from the Outrigger Staff. I've been going to Duke's for drinks and eats since 1994. The vibe is still great as always. Amazing location: Walk out the back of the hotel and you are on the beach. Opted for an ocean view room - woke up every mrning to see the surfers out for dawn patrol. Just awesome.

Not a warm vibe but right on the beach
Outrigger Waikiki is directly on the beach, making it easy to access the ocean and sun. The staff was friendly, but I didn’t really feel the Aloha spirit—it felt more corporate than welcoming. The beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent, which felt like an extra cost I wasn't expecting. There are two on-site restaurants, both convenient but overpriced for what they offered. The buffet didn’t have the best selection, and it didn’t feel like the authentic Hawaiian experience I had hoped for. The property is located on the crowded end of the beach, between the Royal Hawaiian and the Moana Surfrider, so it can get busy. The pool was small, and there was only one, which added to the crowded feeling. If you're looking for lots of shopping, this is a great location, as it’s right across the street from the International Marketplace and all the shops. However, if you’re seeking a relaxing stay with true Aloha spirit, you might want to try something on the other end of the beach. We had booked a full ocean view but discovered at check-in that it wasn’t a "front ocean view" as we expected, and we still had to look to the side to see the ocean, which was disappointing. The rooms were just okay, and we deliberately didn't book a partial ocean view, so this miscommunication was frustrating. My girls did enjoy the lei-making class, which was a fun activity. Overall, the location is great for those who want to be in the middle of the action, but the vibe didn’t feel as warm or relaxing as I expected.
