I love this place. The staff is amazing! Thanks to Andrew at the beach! Nice grab with the umbrella! You’re a hardworking guy! We took a road trip down the Keys and back and this stay has been by far the best. The beach, hotel and pools are in great shape! And the staff is EXCEPTIONAL! Shout out to the manager at the front desk! You are so accommodating!

I read a previous review and I agree with most of it except the food and beverage part. The staff, food and beverages were exceptional. The resort needs attention. They market it as a top rate resort and charge accordingly. With the repairs and upkeep needed the rates should be at a moderate hotel range. The main thing they have going for them is location, location and location. You walk right out to the beach and the other resorts on the strip you have to cross the street. I will stay there again but will not pay top dollar for moderate amenities. Also keep in mind the beach set up team should be tipped and there is a misconception that there tips are included in the resort fees or the set gratuity that is in everything.

Great Pool Service
I give Maarten Green a five star review. He was so attentive at the pool and provided excellent service. Make sure you see him for your food and beverage needs! Marteen saved our trip. When we arrived to our room, we noticed right away the toilet didn’t flush. Maintenance was called (super nice guy, might I add), however, after a few more flushes, it broke again. The shower head also was not working so my entire family had to shower with the handheld wand. I inquired about moving rooms as this was setting the tone for our trip and I had no idea how many times this is going to happen, I was told that there were no rooms left. I was, however, given a couple lousy free drink and free ice cream tickets. For the price of our stay, I expected much more. While I’m not sure if I would stay here again due to all of our inconveniences, I can say that we felt really valued by Maarten. The Pelican should appreciate his hard work and dedication to the customers here, as I’m not sure management would do the same that Maarten has done for us today.

Review of our stay
Our family of five stayed in an Oceanview Premium room for five nights. The room was spacious for us but the wear and tear on the rooms was noticeable. We also had an issue with cleanliness as we wiped up a spill when we got to the room and noticed the floor was not cleaned. We reported it to the front desk who said someone would come to address it and that did not happen. Our room type gave us VIP beach service which was not explained to us at check in. It was not until our third day that we realized we could have been calling down to reserve beach chairs and umbrellas. Instead we were told it was first come, first serve. Service at the beach and pool was good. The servers were very friendly and went out of their way to memorize our orders. They are definitely busy and so service could be slow but that wasn’t their fault. Maybe management should consider having more servers, especially on the beach. On our last day, we waited over an hour for our server to bring us our check. The pool area is small but great for families. The beach was beautiful and great for kids. Every day there was an issue with towels, however, where they would run out. Seems like there could be a better process for that. We ate breakfast on our first morning at the hotel restaurant. The service was very slow and one of the items we ordered was not available which they did offer a sample of something else in its place but then didn’t come back to see if I wanted to place an order for that. We decided after that to eat breakfast off the resort. Overall, it was a good spot for our family because of the proximity of the beach so I would recommend it for that knowing that other areas may have shortcomings.

Absolutely magical
This place is fantastic. Everything is perfect. Frank and the team were awesome, great service at the ocean. Chairs, umbrella, towels, tables, they give you everything. You can get anything you want with a smile here and it’s like paradise. The shuttle service from the resort will take you anywhere reasonably in the area too - which was so classy. Great Vaca.
