Family Club Review
Just returned from a 6-night day stay at Family Club Grand Bavaro Princess with my wife and 2.5-year-old son. We had a good time overall – I’ve put some of our experiences into pros and cons to help other travelers. Pros Room – We had a swim up suite and we all really enjoyed it. It was clean and each day the mini fridge was restocked. My wife lost a part of her anklet somewhere in the room and the cleaning staff must have found it and placed in view on the nightstand which was truly appreciated. The extra pull out on the bunk beds wasn’t the most comfortable but my son loved making into a fort and having Dad sleep there, so it was worth it. My son loved having the swim up suite and really enjoyed being in the water there and playing with some floaties we had purchased. Pool Area Family Club – Our son really enjoyed the water slides and the dedicated family club buffet was nice and convenient . The food while a bit repetitive was still good. Beach – We enjoyed time on the beach, and they did a good job cleaning any seaweed. We’d get to the beach around 8-8:30 and always found a spot under one of the straw huts, most of the lounge chairs had seen better days. The kid’s area by the beach was nice, things were a bit worn down but did not present a safety issue. The playroom had a nice mixture of toys for kids and snacks. On Easter Sunday they had a little easter show for the kids. Restaurants – We visited the main buffet, Teppanyaki and both Italian restaurants and enjoyed them the food was pretty good. Booking via the app was simplistic enough. The free version of WIFI was good enough for our usage needs. As mentioned the buffet offerings could get repetitive but overall quality was good. . The food and drinks trucks were a great option when spending time by the beach or main pool. Staff – Overall we found the staff at the restaurant, bars and the cleaning staff to be very kind. They always went out their way for our son, something as simple as a fist bump, helping him say Ola or giving him a balloon. All the interactions were genuine and truly appreciated. Cons Security – Consistent issue throughout the week of the same group of 11-12 year old causing numerous issues in the Family Club pool area. While not staying in a swim up suite they would constantly jump into the swim up suite pool area, snooping around the "deck" areas of each suite, caught taking float toys and other items from these decks. Dangerously diving/jumping over or near young swimmers. Even with multiple families advising staff, no security ever came out to investigate. I’m all for kids having fun but this was not appropriate behavior and was disappointing to see the lack if resort response. It affected the young kids the most who did not want to go anywhere they saw these unruly group. Train System – At times could be infrequent but the main issue, which isn’t in the resorts control is other resort guests jumping ahead of people. How many times were parents holding small children trying to climb into a seat only to be literally stepped over by someone. Decency was absent at times. Entertainment - We personally would have liked more performance shows versus mainly bands at night. The one kid themed night was the Lion King but that started at 9:15pm so most kids were fast sleep by that point. Overall 4 out 5 stars ...

Great Resort; Booking Issue Makes Us Reconsider Returning
Booking issue review: 1/5 This review is specific to a booking issue that really impacted our trip and is a beware for anyone booking through Expedia with Princess. We booked our family (2 adults = 1 toddler) through Expedia and it was a seamless process. All of our names were on our booking info online, and obviously had no issues flying as we were all listed. When we arrived at the resort on Feb 27th, we were told that only my name was on the booking, and not my husbands. I believe I may have just gotten a gentleman at reception who was quite indifferent to our concern, because he didn't provide much explanation or options, just told us if we wanted to stay, we needed to pay for my husband (toddler was free), which ended up costing us ~$2,500 CAD. This is not reflective of all employees, we have had great ones at reception when asking later on about other things. This was a horrible start to the trip because I've been booking trips for years through Expedia, even at this resort before! And somehow in the process two travelers weren't included. A claim through Expedia proved futile, as they indicated Princess wouldn't issue a refund due to their policy, nor would Expedia provide a credit despite this seeming to be a booking issue on their end. Because of this issue, I likely won't book again through Expedia or Princess; I can handle travel issues, but this was a rather large issue. Resort review: We've stayed here previously and enjoyed it both times, good food, staff, grounds, rooms, etc. Toddler loved it. Would recommend if not for the booking issue.

Good place not so good service
I call several times from USA and the system hung up on me. when we arrived, the first day the air conditioner was not working I call twice the front desk no muchhelpfrom them, and no one fixed I stop twice the next day finally they fixed the reason of our trip was celebrating our anniversary and we didn't get no one amenity, also the first day it was Alex saying he have a gift for us for the next day at breakfast time I said around 9am oh dear,,big mistake! The next day someone kept calling me 4 times saying that Alex was waiting for us I was so annoyed !! We meet with Alex he said let's go for breakfast I was like wait a minute what is this?? To find out they want us to get some type of timeshare 😠 in exchange the gift" was a tshirt, I dint agree that's a really disappointing I dont like no one bother me on my vacations that I paid fully (not discount ) .the sushi restaurant terrible food (cold what was supposed hot appetizer) the waitress just pour water and left before we got the chance to order something else,,not good at all if you want to eat on the restaurant try to book it before you get there otherwise is almost impossible to get a reservation, the buffet EXCELENTE the meat on the grill THE BEST!!service really good!!! Our favorite was Yommi Thank you!! Another thing the blue towels guys by the pool was so rude I witnessed a situation with a senior American they didn't help hem with providing towels the employee said he was there to please he's boss not tho please us the customer, That to me was so disappointed tho hear.

Dream come true for families
(Long review) Going to the Family Club Gran Bavaro Princess was the best decision i have ever made. We checked in the family club for Christmas week 2024. From the moment we checked in, i felt welcome and accompagnied. Front desk employees are helpful and fluent in multiple languages; bravo! The room keys are bracelets: super convenient! Never have to think about bringing the key with me; just wore the bracelet all week…Special color for the family club. I needed to have my child « blanky » washed and they did it within 2 hours…thank you so much! Jerry, you saved me - also, thank you for the candies/ lolipops it brought the smile back on our faces. The rooms are very clean and well thought of for families. The cleaning staff is very competent and listen to all our needs. When I needed extra face towels, soaps and chocolate milk, they were happy to provide extras for the rest of the week! They knew who we were and what room number we were in. Mini-fridge kept the water bottles super cold & the beer ready! The food is colorful and generous in all the restaurants ; buffet & à la carte. I ate with all my senses. La Hispanola buffet is super diverse : Fish, seafood, raw, cooked, sushi bar, freshly cooked pork or steak, a LOT of vegetables cooked or not, pizzas, fries, fresh fruits, at least 20 types of bread, even more choices of desserts, a fresh crepes area and 5 types of ice cream are always available… basically if you can imagine it; they have it! Did i mention the various fresh fruit juices every morning? Delicious! They keep it all clean by having staff wiping and sweeping in the buffet area at all times. We dropped an ice cream scoop on the floor and within 5 seconds, someone had picked it up and the manager smiled and said « it’s ok don’t worry about it » and for my anxious personnality, it was reassuring. The service is perfect and employees are always very nice and constantly have more suggestions of food and drinks for you. Adalgisa & Alexandra_S from La Hispanola are always very welcoming and greet us by our names at every meal. They listen to our needs and respond rapidly…i have never have such perfect service in a buffet restaurant! Well done ladies! Special thanks for the balloons. My child (6) went in and out of the kid’s club all week. They have a ton of activities for kids. The ladies from the kid’s club are the best!! Yennifer was constantly suggesting activities, inviting all kids to join and making sure we all felt welcome. Yennifer really has creative ideas for all kids. She said hello every morning, knows all the kids names and often asked if we needed anything. When she learnt my child loves balloon animals, she went out of her way to make dog balloons for us; she made us smile and laugh all week long! She really is the pearl of the kid’s club: we love you forever and we will never forget you Yennifer! The ladies from the kids club always go out of their way for all the kids!! We were really sad to leave them and I wish I could bring them all back with me! You can ask for indoors/outdoors games, organized group activities, video games, you name it. They did darts on balloons, tennis, painting, dancing, yoga, soccer, aerobics, and more! You can lounge around the kids pool with a drink whilst watching your kids playing with the animation team a few feet away. Parents, yes there is a bar close by. The water tower is supervised by 1-2 lifeguards at all times and it’s only for the kids. Special thanks to the lifeguard (only guy on the animation team) who constantly insures the rules are followed for the kids to stay safe; bravo! I felt confident that it was safe at all times. Tired of the view? Walk behind the kids club to enjoy a very chill area with fewer action and more available day beds. This place truly became my second home. We will be back!

Just an average time
I went to Princess Family Club November 2024, I came with my 3 child and husband. I would say we had an average time. The resort was huge, they had multiple places for food and drinks which was nice. The 24/7 pub was awesome as you were able to order food from a menu so it was cooked fresh. The restaurants (LA Carte) were amazing, compared to the buffets. They have a convenient app that you use to book with. I found the service was pretty good, mostly all the staff were friendly. The water park was great for the children, they loved the slides and play structure, my husband was extremely disappointed when he found out he wasn’t allowed on the slides. They have a lifeguard making sure the children are using the play equipment correctly. My daughter noted that some of the slides hurt her as not enough water went down on them. The beach was beautiful but a journey to get to, we went in November which is off season so getting a shuttle for the most part was easy, I can see if the resort was busier how hard it might be to get one. There were locals trying to sell everything on the beach but honestly which resort doesn’t have this issue? You need to say no and be firm with them. The water was beautiful and sand was soft and warm. The main pool seemed super dirty the colour was off, I saw them clean it daily but I guess it might just be getting old. The kids clubs beside the beach was wonderful, the ladies were friendly and the pool was clean. My children loved playing inside the building too. Lots of toys and video games to choose from. The room was the worst of it all. Everything seemed to be broken. The roll out bed was off the hinges so you literally rolled around the room all night. The lamp shade was not attached to anything and just balanced on the top of the bulb. The door for the fridge was off the hinge and was so unsafe, we complained multiple times about that issue specifically and nothing happened, no one came to fix it. The mini fridge was very warm. My child had refrigerated medicine that went bad due to the temperature. The bathroom door didn’t shut or lock. Also it had a bit of a moldy smell to it, we made it work as we knew we’d only have to deal with it for the week. I’m not 100% sure if id choose this resort again. It was completely average, nothing was awful but nothing was great either.
